Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group. Falls camp is on the primitive side of the river from the mill and bathhouse, and offers the best privacy, full shade, and ambient river sounds. There are several flat camping pads at the edge of the forest for tents, hammocks, or small campers, and a large private fire pit just below. The river and dam can be reached on foot down a nearby trail. This site is car accessible and a one minute drive (or 5 minute walk) back over to the mill.

Woods camp is on the primitive side of the river from the mill and bathhouse. The site is tucked in the forest for privacy and shade, has a private fire pit, and is great for medium sized groups. Brand new private riverfront beach just below the historic dam. Space for several medium sized tents, or a couple larger tents. Plenty of both shade and sun, easy access to the river, private fire pit, and the soothing sound of the river falling over the dam. Hike-in only (2 minutes from parking).

Beautiful spot and very friendly host! You have to hike in a bit, but it’s not too far. Also bring a card table or camp tables as there isn’t a picnic table. Clean bathhouse not too far away at the mill. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time tent camping at Jessup Mill! We stayed at Jessup Mill because we were spending a couple of days hiking at Hanging Rock State Park. Hanging Rock is less than 30 minutes away from the mill. We had a positive experience communal camping and meeting new people. There was also a very friendly cat that would come around and demand pets in the morning and evening when we had a fire going . Bathrooms and showers were clean and a much needed luxury after a long day of hiking. We had such a great time, we would definitely stay here again and we would recommend staying here to others.

Perfect slice of sportsman's paradise/quiet family fun. If you're interested in disconnecting from the everyday and communing with nature this place is for you. Nearest food store is approximately 10-15min. Nearest gas station is 8min. Please out of respect for the owners and nature, clean up after yourself. Leave it better than you found the site and we'll all be able to enjoy the facility for years to come.

Had a great stay! The falls site was perfect for a small van and the whole property is beautiful! There was a live show going on at the mill and the music was great, even from my site! Absolutely must check out place if you’re in the area! Make sure to download directions before heading out here cause there’s very little cell service but there is WiFi at the mill.

There is so much to say about this unique place. I wouldn’t say it’s a traditional camping spot because the way it’s laid out. Rather than having a tiny campsite we had the mill yard, a huge open field surrounded by trees that allowed us to spread out and relax. The fellow Matthew that I secured the spot from was genuine and courteous. He checked on us the second day we were there and that’s the last we saw of him. I saved this as a favorite location to visit again.

Beautiful place to escape. I took a solo trip here and enjoyed it immensely. I was already starting to plan my next visit before I even left. I loved that the area allowed me to truly disconnect but there was still access to wifi nearby if needed.

Great spot. Great host. Awesome like hang in northern NC. Great access to places like hanging rock, Mt Airy, pilot mountain and more. Looking forward to going back when the tubes start running. We stayed in the primitive side but it was nothing short of perfect. A1 minute drive or home for five had you at the mill house and showers and bathrooms. Host was incredibly helpful. Informed is if some upcoming events that would be a dam (sic) shame to miss. Definitely with your time if you're interested in picking up a spot here. 12/10 will be back again.

This is a rustic experience which is exactly what I was looking for. The sound of the water from the river and the dam close by was soothing and helped me get to sleep. There was nobody camping down by the water, so I wandered down there and sat in this idyllic spot for a while. I bought a wheelbarrow of firewood, but if you do this in advance be aware that it's a bit of trek to go to the mill, bring back the firewood, return the wheelbarrow, and then walk back to the camp. Near a river, close to showers

Great place to stay for a few days. It was easy to find and drive right to the camping spot. Matthew (host) is a super, super communicator. There is a nice river that you can easily see and get to from the camping spot. I loved listening to the water all night long. No AT&T cell service at the camp site. However, about a 5 minute walk away you can get to an area (the Mill) that has WiFi, showers, and a bathroom. The showers and bathroom were clean and well stocked. In the morning, before leaving, I parked my truck at the Mill and did several hours of work using the Wifi. If I’m ever in the area and need a place to stay, this would be my first choice.

Stopped here for one night while I was traveling through. Great spot. Really peaceful. I could see it being a really fun place to invite a few friends to for a little getaway. It was really easy to find, and has everything you’d need. There was a really nice cat there too. Hung out with me most of the night. 👍

Falls camp was incredible, great open area, quick walk down to the river. Lane was awesome and welcoming. There’s trash/recycling at the camp spot, fire pit and well shaded area. Restrooms are down at the Mill which is a 5 min. walk. Weather was incredible, can’t wait to come back.

A peaceful weekend getaway

We loved our stay at Woods Camp. The site itself is spacious and peaceful, with good views and easy access (a vehicle that is low to the ground might have a slightly harder time on the gravel access road, but it's well kept). Falls Camp is just up the road, far enough to give a secluded feel to both sites. The bathhouse and on-site firewood at the mill (across the river) were a big plus, as was our warm welcome from the owners' sweet cat! We look forward to another visit in the future.

Fantastic find. I grabbed the private beach and was completely happy with the location. Had a chance to meet Matthew the host and chatted for a bit. Did some hiking, fishing, sitting, reading, and sleeping. The sound of the dam was southing and relaxing. Minus the downpour overnight, nothing but positive experience. The cat at the mill became my buddy, and the wood is a steal at $10 a wheelbarrow load. Long push to the beach, but exercise keeps you young. I went here to scout it out for my young son, and I can’t wait to get him up there! A true gem of a location.

This spot was so perfect for our group of friends! We had multiple tents and a dog and the Mill was perfect. Matthew even stopped by and helped us get a projector up and running to watch football on our last night. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful experience camping here at Jessup’s Mill. It was such a private and peaceful place! Falls camp at great spot for our kids and dogs to run around, play, and explore. There were shady spots and sunny spots to set up camp. The camp was very clean, well taken care of, and the grass in the field had been freshly mowed. It was convenient to have the trash can a recycling bin provided. We enjoyed having a 5 min walk to a bath house with hot showers if needed. The host was great, communicated well and gave excellent directions! We hope to be back!

We had a great stay. Matthew was very communicative and helpful. We actually stayed at Falls Camp instead of down by the river (couldn’t change the site for the review), but both sites looked beautiful. Both have views of the river/dam, with the river site being much, much closer. Up at Falls Camp at the top of the hill, we could still hear water rushing over the dam through the trees (great white noise at night).

I almost don’t want to say anything positive because this is a secret gem and want to be selfish… however, so far as I’ve camping for many years this is my favorite place. Within moments you feel like family, the trails, beauty, tradition, EVERYTHING was perfect!!! Huge shout out to Marcus and Lane who made me feel like family, Matthew (Lane) thank you!!! Jessup mill was the best hip camp hidden gem I've come across!! The amount of times "cute" and "awe" came out my mouth was too many to count. The ambience was a 10/10, there was little to no bugs and tons of amenities available to guest. I knew this was a good spot when I pulled in and was greeted by the sweetest cat Olive :) I will DEFINITELY be returning. My review doesn't do this place justice. Plz do yourself a favor and book here! You will NOT regret it!
