Apple orchard mornings, firelit evenings and stars that actually show up. Private glamping in the foothills of the Catskills. The Hillside Retreat is a privately situated glamping site with wide southwestern views over the Delaware Valley, set on our 46-acre, solar-powered homestead in the foothills of the Catskills. Once a dairy and vegetable farm, the land now offers maintained walking trails, a pond, fruit trees and native plantings, all designed to give you space, privacy and a slower pace of life. Your 10’ × 12’ canvas tent sits along the gentle slope of our apple orchard and is thoughtfully outfitted with a queen-size memory foam bed, basic furnishings, a picnic table and Adirondack chairs. A two-burner stove, cookware, cutlery, plates and drinkware are provided, along with potable filtered mountain water. Complimentary firewood is included for evenings by the fire pit, where s’mores and dark-sky stargazing come naturally. A boutique bathhouse, hewn and built on-site from locally felled hemlock, features a hot and cold shower and a clean, well-kept camp loo, offering simple comforts while keeping you connected to the outdoors. Linen rental is available by advance request; guests bringing pets are asked to bring their own bedding. Yeti Tundra coolers (45 or 110) with ice packs are also available to rent. Guests can enjoy hiking, biking, tubing, kayaking and fishing (license required) along the nearby Delaware River, or simply wander the property’s trails. Wildlife is part of everyday life here, including a pair of bald eagles nesting just across the road. We are located in Long Eddy, Delaware County, about 26 miles from Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Nearby towns including Callicoon, Hancock, Narrowsburg, Cochecton, Roscoe, Livingston Manor, Jeffersonville and Liberty offer farmers markets, shops and independently owned restaurants. We also keep a small flock of chickens, along with quail, ducks, turkeys and one resident goose. Fresh eggs from our organically fed birds are often available during your stay, along with seasonal flowers and produce. Best suited for guests who are comfortable with off-grid camping expectations and are attentive to host guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you to our quiet corner of the Catskills.
