The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Plenty of room for children to run around in a safe farm environment further away from the river, so choose your spot, under the shade of a tree or out in the open. If you’re not into actual camping in tent or trailer form, come spend some time in our insulated rustic cabin that has been lovingly built by Damo. Featuring an open floor plan with a queen bed, a bunk bed and two singles, this space can accomodate up to 6 people. Sheets are provided but guests will need to provide their own blankets and pillows. Heating and cooking are facilitated by a cast iron wood fire, featuring two hot plates and an oven space and there is a cold water sink for drinking water and dishes. Some wood will be provided for your stay. Once this is gone, you may purchase extra. A small fridge will facilitate some food and drink storage but you may need to bring a portable fridge/esky as well. A gas powered shower can be hired if required. A new long drop is under construction closer to the cabin but for the moment, feel free to use the communal long drop near the camp kitchen. A rechargeable lantern is supplied for you to take with you. The cabin is solar powered, with usb points for phone charging, but no other power points. There is also an outdoor fire pit, and outdoor setting if you’d prefer to cook outside, or simply sit around it enjoying the ambience of being in nature. Wood for the fire pit will need to be brought in, or feel free to collect fallen wood from around the property. Please DO NOT cut down or deface any standing trees. A fantastic location for a girls or boys weekend, somewhere for the elders or non camping family members to stay, or for a weekend away with the family camping without actual camping!

Large 2WD/ Caravan Hillside Site

It was raining on our way there and we were held up going through Lithgow. Upon arriving, we saw the large signs at the front Watton Airstrip, and to leave our worries, we drove down the driveway seeing a large kangaroo to the right. I thought it hosts went all out. Arriving at reception to a warm welcome and meeting a few other puppies, received our direction for the site and proceeded, upon leaving reception, what o thought was a statue was a real kangaroo, it jumped away, it stood more than 6 feet. Hence why i thought it may not be real. I was happily wrong. We arrived at our site and setup camp. it was raining and windy while we setup and during Friday night and all Saturday. We still enjoyed the views and were still able to take in the views. We woke up just after midnight Sunday morning, skies cleared, clouds cleared, wind cleared, we saw an endless seas of stars, it was amazing. After getting up to start packing up, all the valleys filled with fog, like rivers of clouds and the peaks like where we were staying sticking up like islands. It was very surreal. We will be back, we will have that camp fire, proving there are no heavy winds or bans. We did have a great time. Thank you Tammie and Damien. We will see you again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We recently stayed at Watton Airstrip – Hog Heaven 4WD Only, and the experience was absolutely amazing. The property is beautiful, with a stunning riverside campsite and the relaxing sound of flowing water nearby. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. The animals were friendly, entertaining, and a real highlight of our stay. The scenery throughout the property is fantastic, and you can tell a lot of care goes into maintaining the land. What really stood out was the hospitality. The owners personally came around to check on everyone and make sure we were enjoying our stay, which is something you rarely see these days. Their genuine care and friendliness made the experience even better. A friendly warning for anyone heading down to the river campsites: when they say 4WD access only, they mean it! If your vehicle doesn’t have low range, you might end up providing the rest of the campers with some free entertainment. 😆 If you’re looking for a peaceful camping getaway with beautiful surroundings, friendly animals, and welcoming hosts, I highly recommend Watton Airstrip. We couldn’t have asked for anything better and will definitely be back.

Damien and Tammie were amazing hosts! We unfortunately had to cut our trip short due to some unforeseen circumstances. The rapids were a wonderful spot at the end of the land. It’s a short walk to amenities and somehow managed to get reception. Keen to come back and possibly try another campsite.

The site was clean, not overgrown, right by the river and spacious. We were there with a 13ft van and friends had a 15ft. It was a little rough coming down into the site but made it with ease. Damien dropped into our camp to introduce himself. Well worth it and will be back again.

We camped at West End. Nice and private with flat grassy site. Really busy over long weekend. Needs additional toilets at farthest end of camp ground as it is a long walk to toilet. Despite this we will be backas it is a beautiful site.

Absolutely beautiful piece of paradise. The track in tested us and our set up to start with but after the first run down we grew confidence quickly and by the end of our stay it was a fun test for even the missus to navigate, our stock standard Toyota prado handled it easy with the camper trailer. The horses are friendly and inquisitive so bring lots of carrots and apples, the alpacas keep their distance but didn’t see to mind us. The view from the dunny is fantastic and you don’t get better than that. There’s plenty of different options for camping spots and they’re all spread out so you don’t feel like you’re intruding on anyone’s privacy. Would be great place to enjoy over summer with a big group of friends. The beach is a great little swimming spot for a quick freshen up as it’s pretty chilly! But 100% refreshing. Didn’t see any platypus or fish but heard rumours they were there. Damien and Tammie are great hosts with lots of extras to offer so make sure you grab some fresh bread even with Bathurst being a short drive away you feel like you’re in a world of your own. 10/10 will be back!

Stayed at Rivers Edge campsite at Watton Airstrip, Damo is great bloke, very accommodating, friendly and helpful, campsite was beautiful and we'll maintained, right on the river, loverly property. clean drop toilet. You must have basic knowledge on how to drive your 4WD in low range as the track in is a moderate 4wd track which adds to the camping experience. We will definitely be back.

We had such a lovely stay at Watton Airstrip over the weekend. The campsite was peaceful, spacious and well looked after, with plenty of room for the kids to explore and enjoy nature. One of our favourite parts was falling asleep to the relaxing sound of the river at night and waking up surrounded by beautiful scenery. Atlas absolutely loved seeing the horses and alpacas around the property too. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect for a relaxing family getaway. Would definitely stay again!

This place is awesome, secluded, quiet, peaceful. Sites are set apart from each other. The river flowing, horses and llamas wandering around, plus kangaroos and possums. Great to be able to have a fire, we brought in own wood but lots of dead wood lying around to use. We tent camped and hog heaven was brilliant. There’s a drop toilet and another one in the process of being built. There was only one other tent camper there when we were there and we didn’t even know until we went for a walk. The drive down to the sites was fun but absolutely 4wd, it was mad! Met Tammie on arrival I had preordered a grazing plate and bread, heaps to eat on grazing plate and the bread was outstanding. We ended up extending another night we loved it so much. Highly recommend watton airstrip will definitely return. Thank you Damien and Tammie for opening your beautiful property up for guests to enjoy

A Riverside Hidden Gem!

We had a great time staying here and are already planning our next trip back. The drive down to the river was a proper 4WD challenge, which was a blast and really made it feel like an adventure. The river spot itself is stunning. It offers such a peaceful outlook, exactly what we needed to unplug and recharge. The sites are also spaced out really well, you get plenty of privacy without feeling like you’re on top of anyone else. Having the horses and alpacas roaming around was a fun bonus and such a cool thing to wake up to. If you’re after a quiet, private getaway with a bit of off-road fun to get there, this is the place. Can’t wait to rebook!

We loved tent camping at hogs heaven watton airstrip. Peaceful with horses and llamas walking around and kangaroos. It definitely is 4wd only the road down to the river was mad! There is only 1 drop toilet but another one in the process of being built by the looks of things. Always awesome to have a camp fire, we brought own wood but heaps of wood lying around. The camp sites were all spaced apart, though there was only another camper when we were there did not see them. The property is beautiful a credit to Damien and Tammie . We ordered a grazing plate and sourdough bread off Tammie, both were amazing. Definitely recommend this Hipcamp we will definitely be back.

This was an absolutely fantastic spot! Beautiful property and we would highly recommend. Instructions were clear. Campsites were a good distance apart and west end was definitely our pick as down one end and a bit more private although the kids also liked swimming at the site “the deep end” as it was a good depth and site had a lot of shade which would be great in Summer. The creek was great for the kids to play in and the dog absolutely loved it. Campsites were clean with a provided fire pit and drop toilet. Thanks Damien and Tammie for a great long weekend.
