This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees. There are several good options for camping in this area. Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. There is a boat ramp just a mile down the hill for boating or fishing on the Mississippi and the city of La Crosse, WI and La Crescent, MN are each only about a five minute drive. Great River Bluffs State Park and countless other recreational opportunities are just minutes away.

This is a very private location.  In its former life this property was a limestone quarry.  Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees.  Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees great for hiking, enjoying nature and viewing the beautiful Mississippi River below.  There are four unique campsites that are spaced far enough apart to maintain space and privacy.  Two of these sites can accommodate RV's or travel trailers.  There is a boat ramp just a mile down the hill for boating or fishing on the Mississippi.  The city of La Crosse, WI and La Crescent, MN are each only about a five minute drive away.  Great River Bluffs State Park and many other recreational opportunities are just minutes away.

Loved our stay. Beautiful landscape and space to roam for our dog and young child. Sites were spaced out and the host was responsive when we couldn’t find the entrance right away. The port-a-potty was spotlessly clean and the site was very well kept.

Definitely 1 of my top 5 campgrounds ever and I'm talking about 500+ campgrounds around the country. The host is very responsive, detailed and so polite checking in and making sure i found it ok and had everything i needed. Definitely give it a 5 star rating!

Beautiful private camping in the bluffs! Absolutely gorgeous in the fall surrounded by the changing colors of the birch trees. The walk to the lookout was easy and short, with a beautiful view. The porta-potty was about the cleanest I’ve ever seen! We will definitely be staying here again!

This is a lovely gem in the driftless. Near so many state parks, clean, private! Erica was very responsive to questions. We will be back for sure!

Honestly, it had more to offer then large campgrounds. More scenery plenty of things to do and town nearby. Far enough away from town lights that the night sky was clear. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Overall we had a good experience, the communication was great and we had no issues finding our site. I think the images on the listing are slightly misleading, however. Our site was not as secluded as we thought it would be, we could easily hear and see the other campers and every car going in/out of the campground. The firewood on site was also causing us some troubles, despite using 4 (!) fire starters, the wood refused to catch on fire, leaving a pile of burnt wood remaining. I can understand if the wood was wet, but they were kept under a covering, it hadn’t rained in days, and we let them sit out in the sun during the day. Also, the swing that’s depicted to be at the top of the hike to the overlook was not there, which was slightly disappointing. Overall, we made the most of our trip, venturing into La Crosse one of the days. I think this listing can be made more accurate if the photos were updated which would help set better expectations!

I'd say that camping here is worth it as you get a nice view near the top of the camping area along with being near some good fishing spots if you're into that sort of thing. A problem I could see is that this camp site is on top a steep hill so id be cautious if it rains and or bring a vehicle that can handle steep inclines. Other than that had a great time here and would definitely come again.

This is a very unique spot, amazingly beautiful each spot is extremely private. We loved our stay here. They have a stand where they sell wood, water, fire, starters and lighters and trash and Porta potty facilities are on the property.

Loved spending the night at the quarry. This was the second time we've stayed here. The sites are nice and spaced out for enough privacy. The little hiking trail to the top is fun. Really nice that they have some fire wood, starters, and water available for purchase onsite. Highly recommend this site. We'll probably be back again.

Just a really cool spot in the Mississippi River Bluffs. It quite, scenic, short hiking trails and close to Winona Minnesota. Plus Erica is a fabulous host and one of my favorite Hipcamp hosts.

The camp site was very nice. Loved how all the sites were separated. The directions getting there were clear. And the location was great to be able to go and use it as a central location as we explored the surrounding area, went on hikes, and fished.

Wild flowers galore and peace and quiet with trains off in the distance and fireflies! Very clean outhouse and spring water available. The view from above the quarry is beautiful! But be careful! I slipped on a big boulder while taking a photo of the mighty Mississippi River. Minor injury to my ankle!

I absolutely loved this campsite. The bluffs surrounding the site are really pretty and in the shade of the hot sun between noon-6 or so which was great because it was 95 degrees on average when we were there. The host gave us a nice recommendation for outdoor rope rock climbing in Granddad's Bluff - only about 20 mins driving. The campsite is close to Lacrosse which has some nice thrift shops and restaurants. Erica also gave us a warning that others would be at the other spot, which was considerate since otherwise the space feels really secluded. There's a short hike near the site which has a lovely scenic outlook. Erica also recommended Pettibone Beach for a nice beach day. It's only a 4 minute drive from the campsite. Would Loveeee to go back, so pretty!!

What a fun camping spot. Erica was right on with communicating the how to’s. Even the hike up to the steep drop off scenic view. It shows that Erica loves this Quarry and makes sure we campers are comfortable. Thanks for the love!!! Scooter

Perfect family camping weekend

This was the perfect spot for a weekend camping trip. Erica helped recommend the best site for more privacy as we brought our two girls and our dog. This was our first time camping in a tent with everyone and the location was just what we needed. Directions to the place were extremely easy to follow. The site was well kept and tucked away with its own scenic overlook and the general area was beautiful with plenty to explore. We will be back for more family camping adventures at the quarry.

I loved the spot due to the solitude it provided along with wonderful view of the Mississippi, nearly primitive amenities, the table, great instructions to site, and the price. I had the Vista grand site and the drive in my forester was very doable. Although I used to live in Idaho so off roading adventures were a bit more typical like this out there for me than not.

We had a great time! The directions were clear to get into the quarry, and it was quiet, even though there were other campers in the other area. It was cool that there was an overlook. The fire pit had chairs and a huge picnic table which was super helpful!
