Scheffer’s Acres is a 70-acre private homestead in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The property offers rustic camping, with trails to explore, and mesmerizing views of the night sky. Locally, you can find something for everyone - kayak and canoe rentals (even pontoons!); public access sites and fishing spots; wildlife and waterfalls; bowling and mini-golf; grocery stores and restaurants; even a Thomas Danbo troll (ask us about our birdhouse)! If you’ve dreamed of getting to the Upper Peninsula, and taking the time to enjoy the beauty of the world around you, this is your chance!

Pitch your tent and make yourself at home! Blackbird Camp is down a quiet lane, tucked back into the woods; offering privacy, with a picnic table, fire ring, and mesmerizing views of the sky. An outhouse with a solar shower bag is nearby, for convenience. Firewood is available for purchase - No outside firewood please. Children camp for free with accompanying adult. Be aware of the local wildlife and follow the DNR suggestions for safe camping. Store food and trash away from your tent.

Set up camp, and make yourself at home! Eagle Camp is down a quiet lane, tucked back into the woods; offering privacy and mesmerizing views of the northern sky. This site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and has space for two tents. An outhouse, with a solar shower bag is available, for convenience. Firewood is available for purchase, and a can is available for trash disposal. No outside firewood, please. Children camp for free with accompanying adult. Be aware of the local wildlife, and follow the DNR suggestions for safe camping. Store food and trash away from your tent.

Blackbird Camp
The site was very small. Our tent was set up as far back as possible, but was touching the fire pit, so we couldn’t set a fire. There was slippery mud and standing puddles around the picnic tables. The site was also over-run with mosquitoes, so we were constantly dousing ourselves with bug spray. Overall, not a relaxing experience. The entrance/exit needs work. The ground is torn up with many projects in various stages - multiple vehicles with collision damage, a trailer, a school bus, construction materials, UTV’s, snowplows……it was hard to navigate a path through all the clutter. Beer cans, pop cans, and some trash were scattered around. Trash can was not emptied and ended up overflowing. Overall just a really rough experience, and I am a seasoned rustic camper. We ended up leaving a day early.

Very private and quiet campsite. Wife and I had a lovely time here. Close to Seney Wildlife Refuge so a lot to do in the area.

Eagle Camp
Sarah had a great spot to camp on, which we truly enjoyed despite a torrential downpour. Plenty of space, and tucked in the woods nicely. Pretty quiet, and far away from other campers so it really felt like you got to escape from everything!

The property was so peaceful and cozy, tucked back in the forest off of a dirt road. We were only about a 45-60 min drive from Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon, and other popular spots in the UP. The host was soooo nice, accommodating, and respectful of our privacy. We loved everything about our stay!
