I read the other reviews and decided to still book this because in our campervan, we could be independent with no amenities other than a space to park and the farm seemed beautiful. The unresponsiveness of the host meant we didnt hear from her until sundown the night of our stay even though we tried to coordinate days in advance. Key information that would have been helpful in getting to the property (especially in a storm at night) were not included, such as identifying her property and how bad the condition of the road from the south was. Because she neglected to communicate we did not get the botanical tour we paid for, and she has still not refunded the charge for that. Overall I thought we could avoid the negative experiences described by previous hipcampers but I dont think this host should be offering their farm as a space unfortunately. The space is lovely but it was not able to be enjoyed.

We stayed overnight in our pop-up tent van on Linda's land. It is a wonderful place, we've never seen anything like it. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Lindee , we booked late and did not get a response in time so we went another route. Expecting a refund since we requested it immediately. She has not responded. We would like our money back since we have never stayed at your place please?

Would REALLY not recommend for tents. Pictures are from 3 years ago at least imo. Since, no maintaining has been done and everything is in ruins. This should be listed as “no ammenties”. It is basically a piece of land with high grass and a bunch of old equipment and half destroyed rvs everywhere. There are a LOT of mosquitoes as well. Slept in my car. Indications not clear. Front gate did not work. Had to manually open and close it. Not worth the price at all.

I loved camping on and touring Linda's property -- the extensive plants, animals and fish, and I especially enjoyed meeting Linda! I found her to be warm, gracious, and personable -- and felt instantly comfortable with her. I would definitely recommend a friend to visit with her, in any capacity!

This spot is great. Tents, a table, and chairs are already there. You can roll up an be ready to cook dinner in 10 minutes. Linda is responsive and accommodating.

Linda is such a lovely lady, and so knowledgeable about local plants! She gave us an extensive tour of her beautiful property, letting us try all kinds of fruits and telling us all about her plants and trees, and the local critters around. She sells fruit trees that she grows, as well, so we were able to purchase a beautiful young pomegranate tree, as a gift for a friend we were visiting the next day. The camping is rustic, so if you aren’t into camping, you probably won’t like this. We loved it! Linda had a couple tents set up for use, if you want them (we were car camping), and has covered areas set up with tarps, bug tent, table and chairs, a little outdoor shower area, etc. We highly recommend Linda’s property! She was so kind and welcoming, has all kinds of fun animals (a couple talking birds, cats, a small dog - all very friendly) and was very pleasant. Her property is a short drive outside of Hilo, and it was well worth it, to be out in the jungle and away from the big town, but still close enough to drive there fairly quickly. It’s also a fairly close drive to see the volcano, from her house. And, there is some cool hiking in the area. We will be camping with Linda next time we make it to Hawaii, for sure.

Beautiful, secluded spot only s few miles from civilization. I stayed in one of the motor homes, off-grid but comfy. Friendly older dog (Jasmine), s few pretty kitties (pepper was one of s few), a few ducks and chickens not far away, none of which were botherseome.
Nice night among the coquis (E. Hawaii's famed chirping frogs).
Host is a cool person and incredibly knowledgeable about off-grid living, gardening, and farming-- among many things she does is tend to many fruit trees, which are available for sale-- but if you're lucky some fruit is free when available (I enjoyed some delicious lilikoi and avos).

Linda was great and her farm is nice. She was pleasant on the phone and helped direct me to the farm when I drove past it at night.
You do not want to use the camper vans. While they are reasonably stocked and were once nice, they're now mostly home to a bunch of mice. Holes in the walls everywhere and a lot of the exposed wiring chewed out and stripped down.
The host has also provided a rain barrel for water, some chairs, a small charcoal grill, a composting toilet and sawdust, and some other amenities. The rain barrel is full, but has no netting over the top so plenty of mosquito larvae floating in it. Expect to get bitten.
TONS of really cute tiny frogs at night.

Linda was a great host. Camp site was secluded yet easy to find. More than enough private space between camps. Do not expect to stay inside the RV though - it was in poor condition and smelt bad. Lots of chairs provided, tarp covered, comfortable space to hang out in. Recommended!

It was a great spot to camp. Very remote. The shower didn’t work and there’s no running water but if you’re looking for a place to pitch a tent for the night, this is a good area to do it. She has a beautiful garden to check out too!

East to find and price for what you get. I made the mistake of sleeping outside without a tent and had literally 120 mosquito bites on my arms so I wouldn’t recommend this if you don’t have a tent. Or else stay inside the rv.

Inexpensive, host was friendly, and had delicious fruit. Not much else positive to say about my stay here. The areas to set up a tent were pretty hard and bumpy, the toilet was a quite full compost bucket.

Wonderful host and a unique place!
Linda is a wonderful host! Her campsite is in the jungle so prepare accordingly. Her place, however, is a cool and unique experience to stay in. If you like peace and serenity then this is the place to be!

Linda did not reply to any message I sent her. Besides the hipcamp auto-generated message, I haven't received any info from her. When I arrived at the property no one was there. The campsites where not labeled with any numbers so I couldn't figure out which site number was which. I called her multiple times on the phone number provided but without any success. A day and a half later I still haven't heard from her.
Unless there is a legitimate reason for her being non-responsive, I cannot suggest this listing. I hope that she is well.

Our host was so kind and shared a wealth of knowledge. We had such a good time there in just the few hours we got to spend with her that we really wanted to go back just for a longer visit. Unfortunately our schedule on the island didn’t permit that in the end but we absolutely plan to go back and spend more time with her learning how to be more sustainable. Don’t just stay there, learn from her, you won’t regret it!
