Welcome to Akala Farm and Wellness Camp! Come enjoy camping under dark skies in South Kona. The Milky Way is even visible during the appropriate season. This food forest is available for wandering, relaxing, healing, resting, playing, and serving as a great base camp between Kona and Hilo. We have ocean and sunset views, forest paths, and cedar barrel wood-burning saunas on site. We will heat them up for you upon request. There is a shared shower house on site with locking bathrooms and hot showers. There is also a shared utility sink available for washing dishes. We have farm-fresh fruits and occasional eggs as the farm produces its bounty. These will be available at the farm stand when in season. We are close to Ho’okena Beach, Kealakekua Bay, South Point, Green Sands Beach, and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. This is a working, sustainable, off-grid farm supplying food to the local area and focusing on stewarding the native forest inhabitants on site. We operate using solar power and rainwater catchment systems. Please conserve both whenever possible. Our catchment water is UV-treated and filtered for safe use, but it is still not potable. Please bring your own drinking water. As a working farm, there may be farm noises and activities taking place. Please be mindful and understanding. We will do our very best to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.A simple campervan parking spot closest to the bathroom and right next to the picnic pavilion. This spot isn’t private, but close to the amenities on site including the cedar barrel wood burning saunas.
