Weary Traveler Haven

Lovely and secluded desert oasis exactly as advertised for road weary travelers. Enjoyed the seclusion, dark night sky and close proximity to Tucson. Highly recommended for its minimalism and desert maximalism.

I enjoyed my brief stay at Weary Traveler Haven and definitely plan to book again when I need a great place away from the city to star-gaze. Booked this stay to watch the Orionid meteor shower and was not disappointed. The tent platform was the ideal place to lay back and watch the sunset and meteor shower and then sunrise the next morning. I also appreciated the fire pit with its included grill. And it was incredibly nice having a clean and conveniently located restroom within easy walking distance from the camping spot. The location of this hipcamp spot was easy to get to, the instructions were simple to follow, and I was greeted shortly after my arrival with the fresh loaf of sourdough I purchased from the hosts. They were unfortunately out of the jam, but promptly reimbursed me and sincerely apologized. If you can afford to, definitely treat yourself to a loaf. It was delicious. Communication with the hosts was also really easy and their responses back were quick and always friendly. There was a bit of construction going on close to the property which started early in the morning, but it didn't bother me much. Overall, I had an incredible time at this location and plan to book again in the future.

The landscape here is beautiful, and I loved my stay! It was super quiet. I can’t really describe how much I appreciated a cool shower in the desert.

Taylor was really chill and sweet to talk to. Her bread is also worth buying. As for the campsite, our tent was smaller than the platform so we used some leftover rope to tie it down instead of using steaks. They had a great stove, hot shower, and portable toilet. Would camp here again!

Other than the heat, the site was very nice. We were the only ones there. First off, they were very accommodating. When our tent wasn’t able to fully secure to the bottom of the platform, they brought out some rope to tie it down. The property was beautiful, with a large saguaro right next to the sites that we had to take a picture next to. We saw a coyote the last night we were there not too far from the site, but due to the remoteness and environment, it’s definitely not a surprise. It was very central for the plans we had even if it is very remote, but if we were to do something similar again, we would definitely stay here!

What a beautiful, safe location. You can hear vague traffic now and then but are privately nestled among the desert brush. The platforms for tenting are amazing, bathrooms super clean, and environment was so quiet and disconnected from Tucson. Firepits were beautiful. space couldn't have been better.

Great experience with Taylor! She came out to meet me and drop off her homemade bread and jam which made me feel safer as a solo camper! The land is beautiful and the fireplace, shower, and chairs are super nice additions. The stars were INSANE! Really easy to find, too. It is off the highway, but after 6 it really quiets down and you feel pretty secluded.

Beautiful Spot and a Good Price

Taylor was an excellent host. He was helpful throughout the entire process. We have a 3/4 ton Chevy truck and a 20 ft travel trailer. There was no problem driving past the gate (a smallish hill). Definitely keep the pooch on a leash because of cactus in the area. Gorgeous sunsets. Would stay here again.

Great desert spot off HWY 79

Taylor and Steve offer a great spot to stay while traveling through the Tuscon area. The area is ideal for a van, RV or tent . The toilet onsite is clean and they even have a hot outdoor shower! Don’t forget about the fresh sourdough bread and prickly pear jelly. YUM. Would stay again. Thank you!

I loved staying on Taylor’s land. The amenities were super nice and it was a great place to tent camp. We had trouble finding the site and they were super helpful. Would highly recommend.

This site was pretty great. My tent was too big for the platform but they allowed me to set it up next to it instead. I loved the fire pit area too. My only recommendation is to bring an awning!! There is no shade at all, so remember to bring your own.

Safe Rural “Boondocking”

Taylor and Steve’s property is surrounded by beautiful state land with 360 views. While I was there, they were installing new cameras around the property. I felt very safe! I look forward to coming back to explore the property, as well as the nearby parks and BLM. Taylor and Steve were responsive, and extremely considerate. Thankful to have shared their space.

We made reservations for 3 nights . We have a 30 ft 5 th wheel trailer and stated that at the time of reservation. The drive to the location was beautiful. When we arrived at the turn off to the property the host was there. It was a short steep incline partially washed out. Against our better judgement we tried it only to bottom out our trailer. In backing back out we sustained minor damage to our trailer. We were disappointed to not be able to stay at this lovely location. However the bigger disappointment was the hosts in refusing to refund the payment. It is a nice spot for tents and probably pick up campers. NOT for trailers! Beware.

This was a fantastic stay! The views were absolutely stunning, and the site itself was pristinely manicured. The facilities were immaculate. The host was very responsive and made sure everything was in top shape. There was some highway noise at times, but it didn’t take away from the overall peacefulness of the site. The host’s house was within eyeshot and it actually felt reassuring to know help was close by if needed. Overall, this is a beautiful and well-maintained site, perfect for those looking for a peaceful and clean camping experience. I’d definitely recommend it and would love to return!

such a perfect piece of land to really rest and relax while on the road. taylor was so welcoming! my husband loved the sourdough she made fresh. outdoor showers are one of my favorite things! i’ve already recommend some of my friends stay here when they’re passing through 🌞
