Boater’s paradise! Ziegler Cove State Marine Park is along waters of Prince William Sound, at the Northern side of Pigot Bay. The park is covered with second-growth forest, offering shelter and privacy to campers. There is protected anchorage at the cove, so bring along your boat. The icy waters of Prince William Sound are protected from the rough seas by islands, and bordered by mountains and glaciers. Yep, it gets pretty chilly, but the natural barriers provide calm waters perfect for kayaking. Head to the tiny town of Whittier to pick up some supplies, or take a break from roughing it with a hot meal at a restaurant in Anchorage. Located on the northern corner of Ziegler Cove and at the edge of the forest, Ziegler Cove Campground is the place to rest your sea legs for the night, and stretch them out the next day hiking through the spread of spruce, alder, and muskeg.
