The signs of age are there: roofs dipping, walls groaning softly, but the craftsmanship and spirit of those who built this place live on in every beam, nail, and corner of this land. In 2021, we didn’t just buy a property; we inherited a promise. A promise to honor their work and breathe life back into these weathered walls. We are a SEASONAL camp open late May through September, weather permitting. We are a laidback camp directly on the Klutina River. Our central location provides a great place to stay while exploring: The Wrangell/St. Elias Visitor Center just 7 miles from camp; Old Town Copper Center; the Worthington Glacier; The Klutina Lake Road is a great 25+ mile ATV trail; The Kennecott Shuttle stops at our camp and will take you to explore the town of McCarthy (where The Edge of Alaska was filmed) and tour the Kennecott Mine. There are several restaurants in the area and a gas station, mini-maty, liquor store and fish processing/shipping service about a mile from camp. We offer: FISH; fishing lessons, a variety of seasonal fishing charters, and our most popular FULL day "Alaskan Adventure of a Lifetime Excursion". CAMPING: Cabins and camping; Tent and RV camping from full hookup to dry. While staying with us: You'll have great views of the wrangle mountain range and the river itself. You'll have access on a spacious river bank to fish from camp, no need to hike anywhere. Bald eagles sit in the trees eager for the fishermen to get lucky and pose for pictures. We have fire rings and picnic tables at each site. We can accommodate large RVs to tents. showers, flushing toilet and laundry facility are located at the main office building; outhouses down by the river. Our rates are tent $35, dry RV $40, electric $50, electric w/water, $55, full hookup $60 and $150 for Cabin (minimal 2 nights stay for cabins) We have a small office store that sells ice, firewood, tackle, gear rental, and souvenirs. Wi-Fi is available in the Wi-Fi room and at most full hookup sites Going fishing with us? Full service charters offered. Yes we provide all gear tackle bait etc. We offer rafting charters only, not on a jet boat. We get off and fish at the hot spots on the way down the river. It is a 24mi float down one of the fastest sport fishing rivers in America. We target multiple species and can customize your charter accordingly. In the river we have King Salmon available 1 July - 10 August. Sockeye salmon from June - September. Trout, Grayling, Dolly Vardan and other smaller species able to be targeted throughout the year.

This is a 10-acre property along the edge of the north bank of the Klutina River--a major king salmon-fishing stream that flows into the famous Copper River just one half mile downriver. That part of the property used for camping along the river is 3 acres. This is a SEASONAL location: Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend with NEW LOWER prices. At this time only the riverside sites (south side of the river dike that one drives across) are available for camping or RV parking. We have no power or other hook-ups on the riverside except that water is available on site through a series of new DEC-approved pipe and spigets, along with more fire pits and more picnic tables. Showers are extra @ $5.00 a person; Laundry tokens: $3.00 per washer load or 40 minute dryer load. Bar on site. Food service coming later THIS 2024 season. WIFI is only on the north side of the dike near any of the overnight rooms or the bar. We recommend no RVs to exceed 28 feet on the river side of the dike. Very private sites and spread out--far more so than other nearby locations. The public restroom is on the north side of the dike. AND we have several budget rooms available on the north side of the dike as well. In 2024, these go for about $100/night. These all have Dish Net, WIFI, and coffee in the rooms. This property is undergoing development. There is still a fire pit on the river side, as we have considerable brush to burn (not during the camping season, but brush is typically piled on the site about the time we open). Just to the east, across the Copper River, is the 12 million acre Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Our property is conveniently located in driving time almost exactly halfway between Anchorage and McCarthy-Kennecott. It is about 3 1/2 hours in either direction. At the Klutina you can charter a sight-seeing river boat or you can white-water raft from a point several miles up a historic trail that follows the river to its source--Klutina Lake and Klutina Glacier. You can obtain a visitors' license and fish here for salmon. You can also hike along the dike or numerous trails in the area.

We have large coin-operated showers, a handicap-friendly outhouse, dump station, water, tackle shop and awesome salmon fishing. Fishing for the famous Copper River Salmon is good right from camp. Enjoy a short hike to the nearby Copper River. You can expect most sites that are on the water to have limited privacy due to the popular location. If you are the type that likes the more secluded feel we also have tent sites set back from the water that are surrounded by trees and thick vegetation for a more private feel.

This was an excellent camp site! Even though we had folks on both sides, it felt private because of all the trees and bushes. Bathrooms were clean and accessible, nearby water spout, and the grounds were beautiful to walk through. We even had our very people-shy dog with us without incident because it felt so secluded. Great tent spot with a firepit and picnic table. 10/10 would recommend!

Great location! Peaceful, very quiet. Gets very misty and moist here so bring a canopy if you are choosing a spot that doesn’t have one! Spotted a black bear at the lake. 10/10 only 30 minutes from city of Valdez. 5 minutes from main falls pullouts!

Great campground! It wasn’t very crowded when we were there as the reds had already run through the Klutina there. So we had a peaceful, relaxing time at the campground. We were there 8/3-8/7. We booked full hook-up but there was no way we were going to fit with all three slides in the full hook-up up site, water, electric and septic. These sites aren’t for big rigs, at least ours wasn’t. We have a 35’ fifth wheel with three slides. The camp-host came out for about ten minutes offering a few ways to back in, then disappeared. After 45 very frustrating minutes of trying to make it work, a wonderful, frequent guest, Mary, and David in the office, found us the perfect pull through spot with water and electricity. Mary even walked us down to show us the spot. It was so wonderful we stayed 4 nights instead of one. There’s WiFi but you have to be closer to the office, which isn’t a far walk. You can fish right there, the owners are fantastic and so sweet. The showers are what you’d expect from a finishing campground, it felt great to take a hot shower though. The laundry is $5 to wash and $5 to dry. They will keep fish in the freezer for you for a small price. Most of the spots I saw were great. Super friendly people there and the location doesn’t get any better. We also had our two dogs with us who loved to go for walks around the campground and by the river. The campground was very clean as well and well maintained.

This place is *spotless* - I didn’t see any micro trash. Bathrooms are sparkling. Shower is probably the cleanest camp shower I’ve ever seen (and the water is HOT, with fresh towels provided daily). My site has some mild road noise during the day but it was not bothersome at night at all. Firewood is inexpensive and easy to get from the shed. Host is very communicative. Definitely enjoyed my stay here.

Once run by the state but is now managed by VAA. The beautiful Blueberry Lake campground on Thompson Pass has spectacular 360-degree mountain views. 21 sites are available (1-17 on a paved loop road) near the lake. Vault toilets and a water pump are available for use. Several sites work well as group camping sites. There are no RV hookups or pull-throughs. Pets and generators are allowed. Bring your own firewood. The McAllister cabin, at the mouth of Shoup Bay Marine State Park, is best accessed by kayak or boat. There is a narrow, tide dependent channel that leads to the inner lagoon where Moraine and Kittiwake cabins are located. Kayaks recommended for access.

The property at this location is very special to us because my grandfather homesteaded here in the 60s and it’s still in the family. Learn more about this land:Stunningly beautiful location in the heart of the Chugach Mountains ~45 miles east of Valdez, Alaska. Snow capped and glaciated mountains with active waterfalls surround this quaint valley known as the "Serendipity Homestead." Google search Mt. Billy Mitchell, Alaska, and you'll see what your campsite view will be, as this location is literally at the base of this gorgeous mountain. 2 rivers, the Tsina and Tiekel, and Stewart Creek (All glacially fed...) converge in this valley.
