We began operating our 150 acre farm in 2011 and became the first Certified Naturally Grown Livestock farm in West Virginia in 2013. We raise 100% grass-fed beef, Western and Chinese medicinal herbs. Our family garden supplies more than half of our vegetables and our favorite berries, and our flock of chickens supply eggs and an early morning wake-up call for our campers! There are no GMO's, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides used on our farm. We are 3 miles from Terra Alta, a rural town with a locally owned restaurant and a local craft beer brewery featuring an exciting rotating cast of food trucks. We are 20 minutes from Swallow Falls State Park (MD), featuring Muddy Creek Falls, awesome river swimming and gorgeous hiking in an old growth Hemlock forest. We are also 20 minutes from Herrington Manor State Park (MD) were there is a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing. Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away. Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away.Farm products are available for purchase on-site. Campers can choose to to have a farm to table meal cooked for them as an extra at checkout. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. Welcome to our Island Farm! We're located between Davis, Parsons, and Elkins. Dolly Sods, Canaan, Audra State Park, the Tygart River, the Cheat River, Seneca Rocks, and Tygart Lake are all a simple and scenic trip away. The land itself is 10 acres. The main camp area is on flat field and approximately 4 acres. Here is the secret recipe to this camp site: It will be all yours! We only offer a single primitive site per night. There are no neighbors (at least the human kind) visible from anywhere on the main field. Very minimal light pollution. The stars are clearly visible on a clear night. There are also no utilities. This includes water, electricity, or available enclosed shelters. Verizon and AT&T have strong signals in the field. There is a metal carport that has a concrete pad along with a Porta John for privacy. There are also some storage buildings on site. There is a gas station (Sheetz in Belington, WV) within 5 miles of the farm site and a Dollar General within 3 miles. Beyond that, Elkins has plenty of store options if you need supplies. Interstate 79 is 32 miles away. We are in the process of developing the far corner of the main field into an active hops farm and are members of a WV Co-Hop. Again: this site is secluded and your group will be the only people there during your stay. We will provide detailed directions when you make your reservation. The driveway is steep and could cause issues for two wheel drive vehicles in winter. If it's rained extensively there could also be some muddy areas which we ask that you try to avoid.

The camp site was beautiful and spacious for four people. The compost toilet was in good condition although the temps were too cold for the showers. Jennifer had plenty of wood for purchase and we had a great time with the farm dog, although he can be nosey at night and is a good reminder to pack up all food and food items well and securely when camping. We would definitely return!

It was great to camp at possum tail. Rain moved in while I was there, but I had a great view of storms coming across the mountains in the distance. Bishop the big friendly farm dog dog stopped by a couple of times. He was well trained and a good watch dog at night, which was a bonus in this remote area.

This place was pretty nice! We were the only ones there, so that made it even better. The porta potties were clean and stocked, plenty of firewood for sale on the grounds, nice quiet area, I honestly couldn't have asked for more. As other reviewers have noted, there's little light pollution out there making for killer night sky views!

Very nice campsite. It’s set back far away from the main road and was very quiet. Great views of the stars. The wood they sell there is great quality. Much better than what you would get at a gas station or grocery store. Had a chance to meet the owner. Very nice guy. Gave us some good tips for places to fish and times of year. The campground is close to Otter Creek Wilderness and several good places to fish. Cell service is spotty in the area so save directions and locations before you enter the area. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in the area.

This was our second stay at this campsite. Both times we've had a blast. The camp hosts are very friendly and accomodating, including Bishop the farm dog. This time we brought two kids who had two kids who had never been camping before, and it was the perfect place to introduce them to it.

1 night at Apple Blossom Camp

I loved this site for camping! The tent platform area is leveled under a little bit of shade, with a beautiful field and woods surrounding. Specifically, the aim of this camping trip was to view a double meteor shower event. The expansive lawn space and the part of the site with clear cut phone lines through the trees made for great viewing! There were plenty of wild flowers, mushrooms, and lots of fog at that elevation. It has rained earlier in the first day and the ground was delightfully dewy. Glad I brought my sandals! Everything was tidy - picnic table, fire ring, porta pot - and it was clearly marked where to park. There was a space of picnic tables up the hill as well, which offered another neat space to spend time. Absolutely would be back again!

The plot is pretty much what everyone else has said and described. Very basic but the campsite area is clean which we appreciated very much. Jennifer and her husband were very accommodating with what we needed to set up our SUV tent. Like Jennifer said the view of the sunset was beautiful and we loved seeing the cows, hearing the frogs and knowing that Bishop the dog had us "safe" over night ;) We ended up having to leave one night early and again Jennifer made sure we got looked after so as hosts I would give them 5 stars out of 5! Tasty eggs too 😋

Jennifer was very warm and kind and immediately ready for us upon our arrival. The campsite is very large and private, and the compost potty is a very neat idea! We got rained out unfortunately, but it was overall a very great experience and I would recommend it to anyone! Bishop the big goofy lovey dog was a wonderful surprise as well!!!

It was a night really nice spot for Camping in the mountains. A lot of wide open area for stargazing, would totally recommend bringing a telescope. We're very friendly and responsive and even let me borrow an axe. Super convenient to have the firewood right there. Wood totally recommend to a friend.

I did some tent camping here in about 5 inches of February snow and had a great time. Lovely little camping spot on a mountain. Beautiful drive in and the firewood supplies make it easy to start a fire. Would recommend!
