Want to see 5 star panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains? This ultra-safe, ultra-private property is located only 10 minutes off interstate 77. There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna.
I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose.
Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain.
Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking.
The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure!
I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do.

Looking for an affordable place to park your car, camper-van, or tent in Blacksburg? That's us! We are located 20 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia tech but with a country atmosphere and a view of the New River.
Our home is also home to three cats, a dog (who is fenced and quiet), chickens, and two peacocks. We would prefer you not bring an animal of your own unless it is leased at all times and well-trained.
We have a picnic table and a fire pit. We also have an electric hookup and a trash can on the front porch for your use. Our home and campsite have a river view, BUT NO river access. Please do not cross onto our neighbors' property! However, if you want to access the river, the New River Junction is .5 miles down the road and has tube rentals from late spring to early fall!
Our home is easy to find, turn from Price's Fork rd onto McCoy rd and follow it to the end (approx 7 miles). Turn right at the stop sign, and we are to the left of Big Falls in .3 miles. Our house is visible from the road and has a trampoline and chickens roaming.
Be aware, there is limited cell service and NO easily accessible bathroom. Pee jars and camp toilets welcome. You can use our toilet inside if we are home. There is also a train a couple of times a day. We think it's pretty quiet, but you be the judge! Happy camping!

What a peaceful place to spend a weekend at! My partner, our 2 dogs, and I had such a relaxing stay at The Lee farm in the glamping tent. The cows were so fun to watch and listen to! Theresa is a wonderful host who is such a pleasure to chat with. We enjoyed exploring with our pups, laying in the hammock, and stargazing. We were grateful to have almost all the amenities we needed on site so that we didn’t have to pack too much since we visited from out of state. It was a bit chilly overnight when we stayed for a mid October trip, and the comforter in the tent was so luxuriously cozy and warm, we didn’t feel cold at all while sleeping! It was nice to have a real bed instead of our camping pads for once. Glamping at its finest!

Weekend Trip to FoxDen by Heartwood Farm and Cabins
We had a great time staying here for the weekend!! It had everything we needed and felt incredibly private while also not completely isolated. The host is very responsive to any questions and the location is great. We loved being able to use both a propane stove and fire, had portable chargers, comfortable sleeping arrangements and overall great!

The bear camper had everything guests would need for a getaway in the woods such as air conditioner, space heater, extra blankets, camping area/seating and TV. With no cell reception and wifi, it was a true unplugged experience.
The farm also had many types of animals - donkey, peacocks, pigs, hens, cats and goats. Guests being able to pet and feed them was really fascinating and fun!
Farm fresh breakfast in their marketplace was great as well.
It was a bit of a hike to the camper and was challenging to carry luggage from the designated parking. Specific parking should be provided near this camper (on the hill).
Overall, a great experience away from home. We would love to come back and visit.

I'm so glad we stayed here. This was such an incredible place it really feels like a hidden treasure. Incredible views EVERYWHERE. We came here specifically for the stars and milky way, which were amazing, but the fall colors really stole the show. This was the most wildflowers I've ever seen! Goldenrod in every direction. We were also completely alone here and there's plenty to explore. This is our new favorite place!

The covered caravan was absolutely charming. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, hikes, sun set on cow pasture hill along with the fire pit, star gazing, and the lullaby of crickets chirping you to sleep. Our dog enjoyed running around the grassy paths.
Definitely something everyone should experience.

This is a fun place to stay if you’re visiting the Lewisburg area. Wish we could have stayed longer. I liked that there were yummy home cooked meals available right there onsite! The bathhouse was clean and nice. The cabins have a pretty good amount of space between them and the hosts were so kind when I ran out of drinking water. Bring your own bottles of water or you can purchase some at the little store. It was a fun experience with the animals and everything and the view of the mountains was unforgettable. Thank you!

Had a wonderful stay over 4th of July weekend at Rugby Creek, just a stone's throw from Grayson Highlands. Lodged in the "Neighbor" trailer at the top of the hill, cozy and private with a lovely overlook of the property. Owners are kind and accommodating; I highly recommend scheduling a tour of the property to meet all the animals and learn their stories, including the famous Fabio and Sadie, the sweetest mini donkey ever. All of the residents are clearly very happy and well cared for, and I basically had a private petting zoo all weekend. Would love to go back!

Weekend Trip to JILLBILLY'S
Staying in the airstream up on Moonlight Hill was magical! Very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We slept really well. The airstream itself is really cool, too --- lots of well kept, vintage features. Right outside the door is a beautiful fire pit and a well stocked wood rack! Just steps away is Jillbilly's -- the camp headquarters. We met our hosts, Jill & Mike, there for check in. They are extremely kind and generous! Jillbilly's also has a composting toilet, refrigerator, and electricity --- not to mention lots of lawn games...I love me some corn hole. There were great hikes and even a fun river float only a short drive away. Our hosts showed us where to go, and we made the most of it. Can't wait to come back to the Hill with Mike & Jill!
