Relax in the backyard in comfy Adirondack chairs around a Crystal Fire table. You can also observe wildlife from our house's windows and deck. We're conveniently located 2 miles from the Elk River Trail, ideal for biking, hiking, horseback riding, and kayaking. We are 35 minutes from the Rail Explorers in Clay.
The space:
House is situated on the edge of a sheep farm in the woodlands of the Appalachain Mountains of West Virginia. 2 bedrooms are located upstairs. One bedroom has 2 twin beds and the other one has a queen size bed with a full bathroom in the hallway. The first level of the house has a kitchen, spacious dining area, living room, laundry room, a bedroom with a queen size bed that has a full bathroom adjacent to it just across the hall. All bedrooms have a 43" roku tv. No Smoking.
We provide Starlink internet and Roku tv.
Log into your own streaming services or take advantage of our complimentary Disney + and Paramount + subscriptions and the free channels that Roku has to offer.

All rooms of the house are accessible except for garages, enclosed porch, and storage closet.

There are a variety of trees to see and plant life. We have deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, coyotes .... Many species of birds also. Whippoorwills usually begin singing late March. At Adventure Ohio, we offer multiple camping options for you to choose from. Bring your own gear and set up at one of our riverfront primitive sites or our river-view site across the road.
Enjoy beautiful river sunsets, access for paddleboarding and kayaking, fun swimming and rock jumping, campfires, and the peaceful rhythm of passing river barges. While a busy road passes through the property, most guests quickly tune out the traffic and instead become attuned to the whistle of the nearby lock, announcing the comings and goings of barges along the Ohio River.
This is a family-owned property—my brother and his kids live on one end, and my mother lives on the other. Between them sits the Adventure Ohio campground, so there’s always someone around to help if you need anything.
We also operate an Ohio River water guide company on-site. When available, you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, or river tubes during your stay for an additional fee. You’re also welcome to bring your own equipment.
Things to Note
Because this is a nature-based site, you may encounter bugs, mosquitoes, ticks, poison ivy, snakes (including the occasional copperhead), deer, raccoons, skunks, and other local wildlife.
We do our best to keep poison ivy cleared from most areas and are continuously working on copperhead control as we encounter them. Please plan accordingly—bring bug spray, keep food secured from animals, and dress appropriately when walking in wooded areas to avoid poison ivy and snakes.

This was a great place to stay! We arrived just at sundown and it was fabulous to have everything set up for us. The bed was firm and comfortable with cozy soft bedding. FYI - there is road noise from Route 19, however, that did not stop us from getting a great sleep. Highly recommend for a quick overnight in a convenient location to the recreation areas. It felt private and safe.

Roger was super nice and the trails he's got on the property are great! Loads of wildlife all over the place. Super knowledgeable about the local birds and just as a storm was rolling in, he rolled down the hill to come check on us.

I loved everything about Roger's property. Not only was the site we stayed at accommodating, Roger made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Beautiful landscape with an array of wildlife rustling in the plush forest. Minutes away from the Mothman Museum and other places to visit. I hope to come back and hear more of your stories.
