In a remote valley just north of Roanoke VA, along the banks of Craig's Creek, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from the creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - barely a house in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

The cabins are primitive, no electric or water. There are solar lights inside and and out also a propane wall heater for chilly nights. This is comfortable camping in the Beautiful Mountains of WV. There is a shower house with instant hot water and outside spigots for water, a porta potty, a fire-pit for cooking and camp fires at night while star gazing. The property is over 100 acres in Greenbrier county WV. There is a lot of history in this area. There are tons of wildlife on the property as well. We have awesome trails with GREAT Views for hiking or horse back riding should you decide to bring your own equine. Pets are allowed with prior notice (not to be left unattended in the cabins). Set along half a mile of Johns Creek in beautiful Craig County, Va, our 162-acre farm offers level open fields and shady groves surrounded by the mountains of the Jefferson National Forest. The beautiful, clear creek features shimmering riffles and deeper swimming or wading holes. When the water level permits, you can float the entire 1/2 mile by kayak. The area is home to a wide range of native Virginia species. Down by the water, you might see deer, bald eagles, a great blue heron, northern pintails, and wild turkey. Part of the wooded acreage is set aside as a wildlife preserve. Our mission is to be good stewards of the environment for the benefit of nature, our farm animals, our family, and YOU! In keeping with that goal, we do not treat our pastures with any pesticides, herbicides, or manufactured fertilizers. Whether you prefer car camping or want to leave your wheels behind, we have the perfect place for you to unwind and kindle your sense of wonder at the marvels of nature. We have great spots for individual campers, all the way up to groups of 25. Fresh well water is available by the farm house, and you're only 25 minutes from town for supplies. We do keep a few provisions on hand, such as camper-friendly foods, hygiene needs, batteries, flashlights etc. Depending on availability we might have farm fresh eggs from our own chickens. And by prior arrangement we may be able to provide home-cooked meals. Covered fire pits can be used when conditions allow. Firewood should be gathered from the property or purchased at the farmhouse. No outside wood is permitted due to the potential spread of invasive species. You may also contract for porta potty services for larger groups. The area has much to offer: the Appalachian Trail crosses nearby, the New River is 30 minutes away, you can be in Blacksburg or Mountain Lake in 40 minutes, and summer blueberry picking is just the next valley over. Hike to beautiful waterfalls, Fenwick Mines, or Dragon's Tooth, all within 35 minutes. Mountain bike on unpaved forest roads...the 15-mile Tub Run Road starts right below the farm! At this time, we do not take bookings for specific sites. We will work with you to select the perfect spot based on your preferences, vehicle type, and anticipated weather/conditions.

Beautiful place with great views of the farm fields and mountains beyond. We were there on a terribly windy late Fall day (we were right at the top of the mountain) so we are looking forward to coming back in the Spring when we can enjoy being outside more and roaming the farm.

The campsite view was absolutely stunning and the proximity to downtown Lewisburg, Fayetteville and New River Gorge made it the perfect camping spot. If you’re looking to avoid crowds and cramped camp sites we definitely recommend this location!

Weekend Trip to CB Ranch Camp -Almost Heaven cabins

Absolutely loved it here! The view was incredible, and it was so peaceful. Loved hearing all the animals, and waking up to a field of horses behind our campsite was just the coolest. The bath/shower house was the best bonus! Our hosts were kind and patient as we arrived later than expected (but still made it right at the latest check-in time). Cheryl provided excellent directions which made it easy to find!

Beautiful land very private and quiet. Place was roomy and comfy and loved the bear theme. Could see all the stars at night. We saw deer in the morning frolicking in the fall colors. They had a nice set up prepared for a small bonfire and water jugs to extinguish before bed which was a nice touch. There was a propane heater and plenty of blankets. We took a walk to the pond and located some frogs. We never made it to the shower but the area has plenty to do. We went to a cidery, drive over an 1800# covered bridge, lost caves and bridge day. Will come back some day.

Weekend Trip to Beaverdam Falls

This was an introduction to camping for our six year old, and he loved it! The yurt and campsite came with everything we needed to enjoy the outdoors while having creature comforts, and the communal trailer was nice to have to check-in with family. We didn’t need anything, but the camp store was also stocked with bare essentials in the event you leave something behind. The site was very private, and Beau, Leah, and the other guests were friendly. We hope to make it back to Beaverfalls again!

We had a great time on Aprils property. We were secluded with Mountain View's in every direction, it was breathtaking. Very quiet and well maintained spot. April and her husband were some of the kindest people we've met. They ley my kids feed the chickens and sheep and their dogs were the best, the kids played with them a lot. Would DEF stay here again.

So enjoyable! 10/10! Accommodating host for needs upon arrival and was there if needed after. The Maple Knoll area was enchanting - we were lucky to have such a gorgeous view of the 3rd day past Harvest Moon and the colors of the trees were doing their amazing change from - day 1 to day 4 it was pretty noticeable. Even some novice campers were with us and they had a pleasant time. We made buttermilk pancakes one morning and Savage Acres maple syrup now holds my top favorite, so glad I added that extra! We will definitely return in the warm months to enjoy the private swim hole with the gorgeous rock formation. So happy to have found such a pleasant camping spot in Savage Acres as our first booking on HipCamp.

It was a perfect spot. You literally are sleeping on top of a waterfall. You can hear it at night with and without the windows open. perfect spot for a campfire and grilling food which has a grate. They even have a community space that has an oven and things too if you prefer to cook that way, I hung twinkle lights all over the place to give it a cute feel and also the community space they offer free coffee and they also have snacks and other items to purchase. The cave was neat to explore on the property! You can even sit at the bottom of the waterfall and have a picnic or just hang out, you can even swim in it too! At the cabin they even made a trail directly to it for those that stay in this cabin. The space was perfect at the cabin for my dog. I had him on a 20 foot lead and worked out perfect.

We’ve stayed at this property before, and it continues to be one of our favorite spots. The mountaintop setting is absolutely gorgeous, with wide-open views that make the stay feel both peaceful and memorable. It’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. April and Carl were incredibly kind and considerate in helping us with a change of plans and that kind of thoughtfulness says a lot about the owners and how much they care about the experience of their guests. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway with amazing views and genuinely wonderful hosts.

we had a group of 7 that stayed at Maple Knoll & had the best time here. we will definitely try to return next time we go camping. the land itself was gorgeous with plenty of room to spread out along with a huge maple tree to seek shelter from the sun under :-). our favorite part was the swimming hole at the creek, it was the perfect way to cool off after doing one of the many hikes nearby. Ned was super responsive and we felt like we had everything we needed. cannot recommend this site enough!

Stunning , stunning , stunning. What an amazing place. Just pulling up to that view overlooking Lewisburg is more than a reason to book here. It’s a beautiful winding road and driveway to get to this spot but it is so worth it. And great benefit also is your close to a cell tower so had service the whole time. Plus April and Carl are both so inviting and friendly. I was a solo camper with my dog and felt so safe the entire time. Can’t wait for another trip back.
