The newly created Yonder Hills Disc Golf Course is a private 18 and 9-basket course with long and short pads for almost every basket. The disc golf course is under construction with some layout changes on the last three baskets. It's playable but it isn't perfect yet. We had to shift focus to the barn restoration grant to meet the June 2025 deadline. This is a perfect basecamp to relax and unwind or be creative. Read in the lawn. Cook over the fire. Explore the Palouse. Disc golf anytime. Guests may bring their own private fire pits. Firewood is provided for the community fire pit. St. John has a bar/restaurant, grocery store, hardware stores, gas station, 2 hotel rooms, library, coffee and gift shops as well as a very nice 9-hole traditional golf course. Nice and peaceful site, Rachael was amazing to work with and I had some hiccups getting on the road, she was wonderfully communicative and flexible. Would 100% go back! Wish I could have stayed longer (and next time I will!).

Nice spot to spend the night when passing through the area. Sheri was helpful with our late(r) arrival and ensured our spot would still be available. We appreciated the heated bathrooms just a short walk from our site. The RV park is next to the highway, but we weren't bothered by any noise at night.

This was the perfect place to rest during my cross country road trip! The hosts were welcoming and made to sure let me know if I needed anything to just ask. The bathroom was so very nice after weeks of campground bathrooms, they even provide shampoo/conditioner and towels if needed. Having a covered area to relax and sit with power for electronics was also just perfect. Also the wifi provided was fast and reliable, I was easily able to get my remote work done. I definitely enjoyed trying their roasted coffee in the mornings while watching the sunrise. I would highly recommend this place for people traveling or even locals who just want a restful and peaceful getaway.

Weekend Trip to Peterson Lake Ranch

Hauntingly serene and remote location in the basalt columned scablands of Eastern Washington on the unrestored portion of a family ranch in the Crab Creek bottoms. Interesting historic barns and structures with cool vintage retired machinery. It’s a new HipCamp and will likely get some improvements, like signage and some tidying of the immediate grounds and perhaps more detail in the listing. There’s only one hookup spot, so if it’s taken, you’ll be dry camping. But the host was amenable to getting some distance from the other guest while I was there. The price is very reasonable. The region has so few camping opportunities, I’m grateful they opened up this gem. BNSF trains run by a couple times an hour 200 yards away, but no crossings for miles, so no whistles.

We stayed at the Cascade Marina during fair week. It was nice and quiet and about a 5 minute drive to the fairgrounds. Hook up was easy and the area was large. The area is all gravel with concrete pads, no grassy areas open to the campers. There is a bathroom and shower available to campers which was wonderful, but on a side note there are extra doors (you cant open while in the bathroom or shower area, but see it goes to another room) that make the bathroom uncomfortable. I would love to see doors put in with locks from the bathroom so the campers can feel secure and safe. We would stay again for sure.

The RV sites were super quiet and private. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. Horses, cows, and roosters were an added bonus in our opinion. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but that’s exactly how we like it.

We stayed here along a long trip to get away from the crowds and slow down for a few days. The lake front site was incredible, our dog and son and a great time playing in the warm water all day. There were a lot of bugs, and the weather was hot, but there’s nothing anyone could do about that. The bathrooms were small but clean. It was very quiet at night, despite the nearby train track. We would definitely stay again if in the area.
