If you have questions about the campsites, please reach out. If all sites are booked, contact us… we may be able to create a spot for you. We have room to grow but are doing it slowly.
The day of your booking we will reach out on your ETA. We always meet and greet first time campers at the gate and escort you to your site, so please arrive as close to Check-In time as possible.
We understand that travel can delay arrival. If you tell us you’ll be here at 4:30, we’re sitting and waiting for you. So if you’ll be late, please be courteous of our time and let us know… communication goes a long way.
NOTE: we don’t have cell reception and we’re only online once each day. After booking, we will send you our home landline number (no texting) to call for communication.
This is a working Ranch so please be aware that there are sounds associated with our activities: sheep and goats get excited at feeding time; livestock guard dogs bark while doing their jobs, and the rooster announces the break of dawn.

Shaped by behemoth glaciers that carved out the land over 10,000 years ago, Colville National Forest is a gorgeous treasure spanning 1.1 million acres (props to President Theodore Roosevelt for saving it). The lands include a number of geographic features including the Kettle River, upper reach of the Columbia River and the Selkirk mountain range, which is considered to be at the foothills of the Rockies.

This cozy, partially screened guest hut is situated on 200 sweeping acres of pastureland and steep, rolling hillsides. Iron Mountain Ranch features the owner's hand built straw bale house which is run off solar power, a friendly herd of horses along with a few cats and three dogs. (look up the ranch social media accounts online for additional pictures).
Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc.
The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch.
***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.***
In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be.
Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses.
Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

I had been searching for over 2 years for a property where I could make a difference in the environment and live in the wilderness.
I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote.
In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing.
I was shocked because this was the perfect property.
In my 2 years of searching I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the property.
It had a private lake with fish.
A solar cabin with a flush toilet and hot shower.
The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast.
It was beautifully treed with just the right amount of open meadow and forest with Hemlock, Ponderosa pine, and Larch.
How could this property be sold?
I tried to let it go but thought about it for the next year.
After a year and a half had passed and my search continued I came across an advertisement for this magical property, it was up for sale again.
I called the real estate agent immediately and found that an offer had been made but the buyers could not commit for 5 more months.
I made an offer that day not really knowing how I was going to pull off the money.
I knew this property was meant for me.
I wrote the owner a letter explaining that I was a land steward and that this land would never be developed.
I would be putting it in a land trust where no developers could put up condos.
The owner happened to be a environmentally focused human
and he ended up selling to me.
Come to find out when I had first saw the property sold a year and a half before, that transaction had fallen through.

Trumpkinland Farm is part of what used to be an old dairy owned by one of the original settlers in this area. It is set in a rolling valley, surrounded by hills, mountains, and heavy forest. It is once again a dairy, with a name hearkening to Narnia, the books by C. S. Lewis. It is also, however, now a smallish family sized farm with many other species added to the mix. I raise a rare breed of dairy cow and several breeds of fiber sheep along with

First, about my farm name: My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm. Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest!
You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods, tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper.
If you are tent camping, don't forget a good pad under your sleeping bag! The ground is hard, uneven, and in some places rocky!
As this property is also a farm, if you run short of food supplies, or want to buy some of what is produced right here on the farm, there are many options for that! From the gardens to wild fruit foraging, farms are all about food.
Farms, camping, and the woods are also about relaxing. In this cannabis friendly state, if you choose to really RELAX, please relax respectfully.
With fiber animals in residence, handcrafted socks, sheepskins and an assortment of hand spun gift items are available for purchase. Periodically classes are offered on old time crafts; let us know your interests when you book your time with us.

In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be.
Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses.
Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote.
In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing.
I was shocked because this was the perfect property.

Trumpkinland Farm is part of what used to be an old dairy owned by one of the original settlers in this area. It is set in a rolling valley, surrounded by hills, mountains, and heavy forest. First, about my farm name: My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm. Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest!
You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods, tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper.
If you are tent camping, don't forget a good pad under your sleeping bag! The ground is hard, uneven, and in some places rocky!
As this property is also a farm, if you run short of food supplies, or want to buy some of what is produced right here on the farm, there are many options for that! From the gardens to wild fruit foraging, farms are all about food.

We really loved our stay at Matt's cabin, which was so homey and comfortable. The solar cabin was easy to use, and we had plenty of energy for all of our needs. The cabin sits on a very quiet 100 acres, and we had a blast playing around in the lake and running around the property with our dog, who got to be off leash the entire time. A few things to note: The cabin is pretty remote, and the road is slow, so definitely stock up on groceries ahead of time! (The kitchen is well equipped, so cooking is easy there.) The road up to the cabin is narrow but in very good shape right now--our AWD Volkswagen ID.4 handled it just fine in mid-September. Also, while at the cabin, we did run into one neighbor passing by in his pickup truck (he was very friendly) and one propane delivery truck, so keep that in mind if you have a dog (like ours) who is a car chaser. (Luckily we could hear the trucks long before we saw the trucks!) Also, we could get intermittent cell service, especially on the hillier parts of the property, if you need to use your phone or check e-mails occasionally while there. But Matt's cabin is a wonderful place for completely ignoring your phone if you can! Finally, Matt is a lovely person, and he's very easy to communicate with. We're very much looking forward to visiting again.

Fantastic spot for tent camping! Our site was a beautiful little glen, surrounded by trees, with a babbling brook running at the edge. The ground is flat and mostly level, so it worked well for our 10 person tent. Because of Red Flag conditions, we didn't get to use it, but Warner had a fire pit and wood already at the site. There was a large cable spindle that functioned as a good size table. The site has a little trail that leads back into the woods for a relaxing hike if you want. Warner provides an indoor bathroom and potable water from an artesian well, just yards from the "entrance" to our site. There was even a super friendly cat that would stroll through to say 'Hi' once in awhile. It was a fantastically beautiful and relaxing place to spend a long weekend.

When I was searching for rural/off the grid, this is exactly what I was talking about! When we pulled up to the house, the first thing we saw were 5-6 deer gathered in the yard chomping on grass. I was particularly excited about this trip because I got to bring my extremely anxious dog with us. From the minute we got there to the second we left, I have never seen my boy so relaxed and in his element. He was allowed to be off leash, and explore. It was so amazing and refreshing to watch him be so carefree! We sat around staring/listening to the deer, birds, ducks, turtles. We took our paddle boards around the lake and it was so unbelievably quiet and peaceful! If you want to get away from the noise and the people, this is your place!

Weekend Trip to Nirvana Gardens
My wife and I had one of the most relaxing stays on vacation that I believe we have ever had! Upon arrival, you feel as if you are in the most remote peaceful place that you only imagine about. The first thing we saw across the lake was a spiraling water spout due to one rogue gust of wind that whipped directly toward us across the lake and swept right over us and immediately after that an eagle swooped down upon the lake.(Sounds scary, but it wasnt lol. It's a mountainous region and its to be expected). Didnt think much of it at the time but kind of had a profound meaning after it happened. After that, it was as peaceful as could be. We watched deer wander through the surrounding area with little to care of our existence every day that we were there. We both spent hours just relaxing with a book, sitting in the sun on the deck or out on the dock. Do you enjoy just seeing nature? You will enjoy the vast amount of it! Chipmunks, turtles, birds of all kinds and many a dragonfly! The cabin is cozy as can be and was quite comfortable even in the 90° weather that we experienced while we were there as long as you use the covers in the daytime. You feel as if you are the only people on the planet and every moment is yours. Matt is also very great at communicating what is needed and he is a very gracious host and seams like just a wonderful human being. We definitely hope to make it back someday!

We had a fantastic time at Bearcat Acres! Warner was warm and welcoming, and the land is just beautiful. We were able to hike all over the property and explore, as well as create a nice home base to hang out in. The glen where we set up was both sunny and shady, and the kids loved roasting marshmallows over the firepit. Warner is still making improvements to the property and you can see how much care he has for the land.
