If you are lucky, you will be greeted (and possibly herded) at some point by 2 friendly aussies that roam freely. Ducks and cats also live here. Saturday's 10-noon is a community Farmer's market at the island's community center. Don't miss Daisy Hill's cinnamon rolls, get there early. Shelton has many many activities and events going on all summer such as Oyster Fest, logging show, car shows, farmers markets, dalia and lavender farms, races at the Ridge motorsport, Vance Creek Railriders, also, on the island you can tour the wildcat sanctuary. The cabin is nestled in a forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away. The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are renovating it over time. There is a very steep/narrow staircase that excesses the second floor, and the twin bed artea is part of the lofty and is not an enclosed bedroom. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable farmhouse style kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to one of the decks which features outdoor seating and a bbq.

We used this cabin as a base for exploring the forests and parks on the Olympic peninsula, and we had a blast. We were able to explore everything we wanted to, and return to a nice cozy and quiet cabin to rest and recover for the next day's dventures. The cabin had everything we needed for relaxing, and the hosts were responsive and had help available if anything small came up. Great place, would rent again if in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at the rustic A-Frame cabin with gorgeous views. It was a great place to kick back and relax and yet be close to a plethora of recreational opportunities. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen with quality kitchenware. We enjoyed, with the use of the provided spotting scope, watching the groups of Bald Eagles feeding on the mud flats at low tide. We ESPECIALLY appreciated that our dog was welcome.

Weekend Trip to Dreamy Dosewallips Getaway
The Catalina camper was perfect for our glamping trip. The location is quiet and tucked away, which felt so private and relaxing, but was easy to find with instructions. The camper has a great outdoor space with plenty of seating and a table to eat. There is a table top grill with propane, it was nice to cook outside! The hot tub outside of the camper was the highlight of our trip. After a long day hiking and trekking the national park, head back to the camper to freshen up and take a dip in the hot tub. It was a relaxing way to end our day. Inside is so spacious! There is a bunk bed as you first walk in, a bathroom with toilet and shower, an entire dining seating area, full kitchen, and living area with a love seat couch. The electric fireplace was a cozy addition. The private master bedroom has a queen size bed with storage galore. We had everything we needed and more. It’s close to the national park and other recreational areas. I’d recommend bringing food and drinks from a grocery store and stock up the fridge (it’s just about full size!), plus there aren’t many restaurants nearby anyway. We enjoyed our stay and Emily’s communication was great, we felt comfortable and can’t wait to visit the area again.

My stay at Camp Duckabush was nothing short of magical. The A-frame cabin is cozy, peaceful, and impeccably maintained. Waking up in the tranquil loft bedroom to views of the Hood Canal while drinking coffee on the balcony was an absolute dream. Inside, the cabin had everything I needed—from a fully stocked kitchen (with locally roasted Rainshadow Coffee!) to a comfy living area with blankets, propane heater 🔥, and FireTV. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches like the reading nook, board games, and even a spotting scope to watch the local wildlife. The outdoor space was just as memorable. I spent the evening lounging outside with a glass of wine in the provided lounge chairs. The views of the Hood Canal were stunning, and the peaceful setting made it feel like a true escape from the everyday. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a solo retreat, or just some time to reconnect with nature, I can’t recommend this place enough. I left feeling completely recharged and already dreaming of my next visit.

A very cute, cozy, and clean stay! Angie was very accommodating and the all amenities were very clean and tidy. Love the vintage vibe of the trailer and lots of land for our dog to stretch his legs on. Located on the owner's property but very private. Separate outdoor toilet which was incredibly clean, rustic outdoor space equipped with seating, BBQ etc. My only suggestion is to use fragrance-free detergent on the linens (it was very strong but indicated they were very clean!). This place was fantastic. We came here with some friends and our dogs and it was the perfect getaway. It had a perfect cozy cabin, large outdoor space outback with a creek and fire pit, and an awesome hot tub that kept nice and warm. The deck up top was the perfect place to have brunch and the surrounding area is filled with nice hikes. The only downside is the lack of reliable internet for handheld devices but with the outdoors and perfect streaming we hardly even noticed. Ideal place to keep us and the pets entertained. Would definitely come back and planning to.

Our mini-honeymoon at Camp Duckabush was absolutely divine! We started each morning with coffee in hand, taking in the peaceful marshland views and spotting local wildlife. The A-frame’s interior is adorably decorated with charming touches throughout. Our host Makayla was wonderful, attentive and quick to respond to any needs. The cabin made the perfect base for outdoor adventures, from hiking to a stunning waterfall to enjoying panoramic views at Mount Walker lookout. We even had the magical experience of watching a family of elk cross the road, with the majestic bull bringing up the rear. Evenings were spent unwinding around the cozy fire pit, the perfect way to end each day. Thank you for an incredible stay!

My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) stayed ar the Olympic Wanderer in early June 2025. Olympic National Forest has been on our bucket list for WA for the past 2 years of being stationed in WA. It was exactly as I expected! We had a wonderful weekend of tandem kayaking & baby crab exploration in the beautiful lake! After, my husband & I soaked in the hot tub and then we made more family memories with a camp fire and making s'mores! After that, we played a family card game before bed. We were up early enough before check out to have a quiet cup of coffee before we packed up and drove over 2 hours home. They have everything you need such as drinkable water, coffee pods, TV with movie apos, free wifi, bath toiletries, bedding, a good size fridge with freezer, peace & quiet, a/c for both upstairs and downstairs, some games & puzzles and dishware. Bring your own s'more items, skewers, logs, and fire fluid- and you're all set! I would absolutely stay here again! My twin 12 yr olds & 7 year wanted to stay longer! If I could suggest a few things to help the stay, it would be have the grass mowed- ad it was over grown and made it hard to not trip over roots and stones. And additional recycling- as all the recycling bins on the curb were full to the brim from previous occupants. Note: None of this would delay the amazing time we had- just suggestions

There's plenty of sleeping room, a cozy kitchen, ping pong table, hot tub, beautiful little stream in the back yard, a big fire pit, and a TV with tons of dvds to finish the night with. Lots of fun outdoors activities! We brought our rescue dog on his first camping trip here and he had a great time.

We enjoyed our time at the A-frame! Makayla was very accommodating, responsive, and provided everything we could want for a relaxing stay. I loved waking up with a view of the water from the bed. The couch is super comfy and the whole place invites relaxation, with the books and board games and coloring pages. I appreciate this spot being dog friendly, and I felt comfortable letting my young puppy run around the yard without a leash.

Visited for the Veteran's Day weekend with my Mom and 10 year old son. Made wonderful memories. If you have time, check out the 5 min hike to a beautiful waterfall- Rocky Brook Falls. It's off Dosewallips Road, very close to the cabin.

The Big Quilcene river is a water wonderland with private riverside access available to all campers just a short easy walk from each campsite. Here is where you can enjoy the cooling relief from the Summer heat, bask in the sun on cool Spring days, listen to the soothing sounds of the water and wildlife, interact with fellow campers, as well as fishing for Coho salmon in the Fall for a full meal deal experience. (Fishing license required). The river access “Common Area” is for all campers to enjoy with plenty of space to also have some alone time. If you are a more adventurous camper, Tranquil Acres is perfectly located to be your “home base” for extended stays, allowing you to explore the many wonders that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer as easy day trips. We are happy to answer any questions and share some of our favorite hikes, lakes, restaurants, and historical areas we have loved over these many years. My family has lived in this area since the early 80's and after almost a decade of renting this property and becoming a part of the amazing community of Quilcene, I had the opportunity to buy this land and “pay it forward” by creating Tranquil Acres for all to enjoy. My children that grew up here, continue to help and support this endeavor as adults. “It’s a King Thing”. Camping Etiquette: **Please read before booking** First and foremost, the road leading down to the camping area is a steep gravel drive. Going down isn’t usually a problem…it’s getting back up again. When you get to the bottom, the rest of the roadway leading to all campsites is a natural dirt road with tree root humps that isn’t designed for low clearance cars. AWD or 4WD is recommended, but please check with us before booking to see if your vehicle can have access all the way to your campsite and make it back up the hill. If not, we do have parking available at the top of the hill safely located next to our house, and transport options available to help you pack it in and pack it out without risking damage to your vehicle or the land and still enjoy a wonderful camping experience. Please inquire before booking if you have a low clearance vehicle so we can discuss your options. Please be respectful of the land. We are a “pack it in, pack it out” campground and wish to provide this space for folks to enjoy for many years to come. The Quilcene transfer station is located nearby and is open on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. (hours may differ on holidays). We do offer waste disposal as an add-on at checkout. Recycling must be separated from solid waste and contained in the bags provided and will have clear instructions of what is recyclable. Potable water is not available in the camping area. It is okay to use water from the river if you have a certified filter system (at your own risk). If you are the bold and brave that likes to bathe in cold waters, please be mindful of the eco-system and the damage that soap can do to our natural habitat. Dishwashing is not allowed in the river at any time. Like most campgrounds, our quiet time is 10pm-8am. Please be respectful to your camp neighbors at all times. Sounds carry easily in the woods. Play, explore, have fun, and stay awake to enjoy your space for as long as you want, just be mindful to use “camping voice” after 10pm. Communication is encouraged and appreciated! If you need anything, are having any issues with fellow campers, or just have a question… please don’t hesitate to get in touch… day or night. We love being able to share this wonderful land for folks to have a joyful camping experience in our neck of the woods with their fellow campers. Dogs are allowed at all campsites. Cats too if you have a camping cat! Please be mindful of your neighbors and that not everyone feels comfortable around dogs or may be allergic. Off leash is allowed if your dog is not aggressive with humans or other dogs. You know your dog best, and we will trust that you will use your best judgement in any circumstance while you are staying with us. If there is an issue in this regard, we will ask you to keep your dog leashed at all times, or under extreme circumstances may be forced to ask you to leave. We would rather not do either of those things, so please be aware of where your pet is at all times. Everyone loves a campfire! No one loves a wildfire. The lushness of the Olympic National Forest can be deceiving. Wildfires do still happen here and we expect you to extinguish your fire if no one is at the campsite, before going to sleep, and prior to departure. Firewood is provided as an add-on at checkout and will be at your site when you arrive, or you are also welcomed to bring your own. You will need to provide your own paper and flame to get your campfire going. There are many small sticks and twigs around every site to use as kindling, but please don’t use any wood you find on the land that won’t entirely fit inside of the rock ring. This is dangerous because wood holds heat and can continue to burn and ignite leaves, sticks and twigs outside of the firepit. If it is windy at any point during your stay, we respectfully request that you don’t have a fire while the winds are blowing. You can see if there is a recreational fire burn ban prior to arrival by visiting www.orcaa.org or send us a message. It is rare that recreational fires are banned in this area, but it does happen on occasion. Burning any kind of garbage in your campfire is not allowed at any time. Doing so means it is no longer a recreational fire and could permanently stop us from allowing campers to stay here. We offer a variety of add-on features that can turn your camping adventure into a glamping experience. Need a tent? No problem, we will even set it up for you and take it down. Don’t have a stove to cook with? We have that too. When we say: “It’s a King Thing”… it means we intend to provide you with an experience that leaves you feeling like Royalty. Add-on descriptions (Updated) Essentials: Toilet Available: 2 composting toilets are conveniently located for all campers and cleaned daily. Bring your own TP and please don’t leave the roll in the Shat Shack or Poop Hut when you’re not doin ur bizness. There are instructions posted if you have never used a composting toilet. Pets Allowed: Off Leash You know your dog best. Please be mindful and aware if they are aggressive towards other dogs or humans. Fire Ban in effect: (no) River rock ring firepits available at all sites. You are welcome to bring your own firewood, or add-on at checkout. Lots of sticks and twigs on the ground available for kindling. Bring your own paper and flame to start your fire. Please don’t use wood from the land that doesn’t fully fit inside of the firepit. Amenities: Kitchen Available: Grill over firepit available upon request. Forget to pack a much needed cooking utensil? Please ask and I may have one you can borrow. Picnic Table Available: All sites have a picnic table. No Potable Water: Bring your own bottled water for drinking/cooking, or you can access river water with your own certified filtration system. We do not recommend drinking or cooking with water from the river that has not been filtered, doing so is at your own risk. We are just minutes away from 2 different stores in Quilcene. No Showers: Bathing in the river is allowed if you are brave enough to handle the cold water. Please be mindful of the natural eco-system and use only biodegradable soap minimally. The Big Quilcene river plays an important role in this region supporting wildlife, aquatic life, plant life and human life. No Wifi: But all major phone providers do get service in our campground area. Pack it out: Garbage/recycling is available as an add-on feature, otherwise, please pack it in/pack it out and leave it better than you found it. Laundry Absent: There is a laundromat in Quilcene just a short drive from our campsite. Available offers: Firewood $6.00/bundle Locally sourced firewood with a range of sizes will be waiting at your campsite when you arrive. Bring your own paper and flame, and there are many small sticks and twigs on the ground just waiting to be useful as kindling! (Cash or Venmo is accepted if you need to order more during your stay. Tiki torch fluid- citronella based $10.00 A great ambiance for the great outdoors and helps keep pesky insects out of your camp. (Tiki torches are provided at all sites.) Garbage/Recycling $15.00 ** We are offering this option on a trial basis.** Containers will be provided for your garbage and recycling at your site during your stay. Clear instructions will be provided for what is recyclable and what is solid waste. PLEASE adhere to the instructions so we can continue offering this service to future campers. Large tent – sleeps up to 12 - $55.00 We will set it up before you arrive and break it down after you leave. Large two room tent with 2 doors. Broom will be provided, and we just ask that you sweep the floor prior to departure. Extra Car Fee $10.00 Only 1 car is allowed per site. This helps reduce the wear and tear on the land. There are exceptions to this…so please message me if you have more than one vehicle in your group, or you have a low clearance vehicle so we can discuss. Extra cars can park safely next to our house at the top of the hill. ACTIVITIES ON THE LAND OR NEARBY BIKING: multiple mountain biking trails for any level of rider. Check www.singletracks.com for information about trails located in Quilcene and nearby areas just a short drive away. FISHING: The salmon start running on the Big Quilcene in September. Fishing license required. There are other options for fishing around the area depending on what you want to fish for, go ahead and message me if you want some insider information. HIKING: There are many hikes close by with a variety of difficulty levels. I have hiked pretty much all of them and would love to share some of my favorites with you. PADDLING: Quilcene Bay, Lake Leland as well as other options just a short drive away. WILDLIFE WATCHING: We have deer that wander through the campground from time to time and in the mid-late summer it is a real treat to see their fawns. There is a fun assortment of birds, owls and even herons and hawks that can be spotted while hanging out at the river in our common area. If you are lucky, you can even spot a bald eagle passing by. Grey whales and Orca whales migrate north in the late Spring and Summer and there are whale watching tours available in Sequim and Port Angeles. There is also the Olympic Game Farm Park in Sequim that is a drive through wildlife preserve that is a lot of fun for the whole family just 45mins away. (Absolutely no hunting is allowed on Tranquil Acres and we respectfully request that you keep your distance from wildlife for the safety of all involved.) NATURAL FEATURES ON OR NEAR THE LAND: BEACH: There are several Bays and Lakes in the area that I would love to tell you about that are easy to access…please don’t hesitate to ask. FOREST: We are located on the eastern side of the Olympic National Forest, and there is a Ranger Station just a couple minutes away. The rainforest eco system of this area is truly an adventure worth exploring, and our Tranquil Acres has all the native trees and plants of this unique region that makes it feel like you are living in the heart of a rainforest…but with less rain, and slightly warmer temperatures than the central and western side of the Olympic rainforest in the summer. LAKES: Lake Leland Lake and Crocker Lake are the nearest most accessible lakes in the area. There are many others, please feel free to ask about any lakes you find in the area and I can let you know if it is suitable for what you are wanting from a lake experience. RIVER, STREAM OR CREEK: Tranquil Acres is located on the Big Quilcene River. It’s beautiful and most of the time secluded (except during salmon season in September when there are fisherfolks that have public access to the river itself). There are many other rivers in the general area, but none quite as awesome as our little stretch of the Big Quilcene. SWIMMING HOLE: Yes, various options at different times of the year…and It’s COLD! Bring a float device for a gentler experience in the hot summer sun or have a bold and brave Polar Plunge regardless of what month it is. (AT YOUR OWN RISK, please be mindful of how strong the river current is at different times of the year and do not let young children into the main current without a life jacket or without adult supervision. Highly recommended to wear water shoes at all times/all ages.) The Big Quilcene is a River that anyone could slip and fall on the rocks regardless of age and how low the water is. WATERFALL: The Falls View loop trail just a few miles south of Quilcene is an easy 1 mile hike that has a spectacular view of the large waterfall that flows into the Big Quilcene River. I am happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have about local adventures in the area. MOUNTAINOUS: Mt. Olympus reigns supreme over them all, but the Olympic Mountain Range has 9 other distinct Mountain peaks, and there are a variety of ways to experience this unique mountain range…just ask me how, I am happy to share the variety of ways to enjoy the Olympic Peninsula. FARMS: We have multiple organic farms in the area where you can purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables. There are also many community activities at various times of the year to get to know this little Pearl of the Peninsula.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. Its a relaxing place to hang out for a few days, and/or excellent basecamp to explore the amazing forests, mountains, and beaches nearby. Also, there's lots of great foraging to be done (nettles, mushrooms, and oysters; oh my!) GPS LOCATION: When driving to the cabin, your GPS will tell you that 'your destination is on the left'. This is a lie. The cabin will be on the right. There is a metal gate that is closed with a chain but not locked. CABIN LAYOUT AND SLEEPING AMENITIES: The Cabin is just a little guy; only 16'x20'. There is a kitchen, living room, and dining room area, and the bathroom is a separate room - we call it our 'studio cabin'. We have a fold out couch for which we provide linens, pillows, and a comforter. There is also an inflatable mattress that is a tight squeeze, but can allow for four people to sleep (with a little furniture rearranging). There is a deck that is large enough for a two person tent that would also make a four person camp-out comfortable. All linens and towels are stored in the trunk and the bathroom cabinet. There is a 4' round dining room table with four chairs and a small table on the porch with two more chairs. All the cushions for the chairs are in a cabinet under the table inside. ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately, the cabin is not wheelchair accessible. There are 5 stairs up to the deck and the bathroom door is only 27" wide. SURROUNDING AREA: There are small trails leading away from the cabin; do not walk down them! They lead to neighboring properties and I cannot guarantee that there won't be neighbors who would be very surprised by a stranger showing up on their land! There are lots of public trails only a few minutes drive in either direction from the property :) STOLEN LAND: This property is on stolen, indigenous land. The cabin is nestled in a forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away. The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are renovating it over time. There is a very steep/narrow staircase that excesses the second floor, and the twin bed artea is part of the lofty and is not an enclosed bedroom. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable farmhouse style kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to one of the decks which features outdoor seating and a bbq.
