Pigeon Valley Farms River Camp is a humble sanctuary. It hosts many types of housing and parking sites. The Owl's Nest Glamping Cabin, Fireflies RV Parking, Dark Skies tent sites, planned springtime tiny gardens and riverfront view on the James River. Plenty enough room for all to be with nature and play outdoor games. Relax, heal and gather with your family and close friends. We also welcome your well behaved pets!

Twin Poplar Farm

The Farm is located on 65 private acres of Woods and Field on the Tye River. This is a place for people who love nature and want to be out in it. We have chosen to prioritize conservation over ease of access, so though the sites are all walk in only  [or paddle in!] this means you will camp on the grass or leaves not the gravel of a parking lot. 
There are only 3 sites on the land so you can soak up nature without noisy neighbors.

"Twin Poplar" refers to the Tulip Poplar's extraordinary tenacity, after being cut down, like the Phoenix who returns to life after death, a Poplar will often regrow as two "twin" trunks. A chance for a new life and growth!

End of the day, fire by the river. The Beach is a perfect spot for fires and to put in or take out for a paddle, just steps from the camp site.

Late afternoon as the sun is setting and the woodpeckers have a good laugh at you getting a fire going!

Kayaking on the pond! It actually goes down to a depth of about 30 feet in the middle. Super refreshing for an afternoon or morning dip. 

Private Farm Minutes to Cville

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property.
The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from
Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

The Forge at Fiddler's Ridge

The farm was owned in the 30's by a musical family who's members were invited to play for FDR at the White House. My background is as a horse shoer and black smith and I have made Fiddler's Ridge my home since 2003. I have a forge on site and will be happy to demonstrate or give a beginner lesson. Includes use of older pole barn in case of inclement weather.

John was kind enough to give us a little tour of his blacksmiths shop.

This is near one of the campsites. John allows guests to use it to sit out rain if they need to. In the back, he store’s firewood available for purchase. 

This firewood is available for purchase. John sells them by the bundle and we definitely recommend making a few in one of his nice fire pits! What’s camping without some s’mores, right? 

John has beautiful gardens we had fun admiring. 

Cambia Community

Cambia Community was formed in 2015 and is slowly developing a village of tiny houses and community centers. Cambia hosts Rustling Roots, a forming interactive sustainability museum and nature center. We've been developing forest trails, campsites, and playgrounds, including our large cargo net. We love to meet new people, share meals, and learn from each other.

La La Land Farm

La La Land is the realized dream of two retired Army Veterans.
 Owned since 2014, the owners have been steadily turning the farm into their vision of a place that's part horse farm, part peaceful retreat, with room to roam and amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
 The farm is 58 acres of pastures and woods, with 2 creeks and 20 acres of trails suitable for horses and atv's.

If you want to stay on the hill above the creek, there is a flat area next to the hunting stand to pitch your tent.  You can climb the stand for a great view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
