Outdoors is the ultimate entertainer’s paradise. Relax in the hot tub and enjoy theatre under the stars on the 120” elevated screen that can be seen from the entire site. Creeping Thyme Forest

Early settlers of this area were mainly Scotch-Irish and there are several dominant family names that still populate these areas. Tobacco was grown in the area for many years, but now is rarely seen. This whole valley between two mountain ranges was chosen in the 1970's to be dammed and made into a reservoir for a hydroelectric power plant; however, the residents at the time formed a strong resistance, went to Washington, and eventually blocked the development, preserving its natural beauty. This land is within the Jefferson National Forest. It was owned for many years by Roy Light, owner of a nearby lumber mill, but when he passed away, his children cleared the timber and moved away. Since then, the diverse deciduous forest has regrown quickly. A rustic cabin made from salvaged hand-hewn logs was built on the site in 2014 and an alpaca farm was established; however, the owners had to move away due to employment changes. Currently, we are working on developing a perennial food forest, as well as dairy goats, and chickens.

When we relocated from Florida, we really wanted that vacation feel of a place to call our home. We found this cabin nestled in the background and absolutely fell in love with it! Gorgeous mountain views, a breath of fresh air, and minimal noise all around. There is a natural spring across from us that used to provide our cabin with water, and the neighbors all around have worked together to keep the area as clean and peaceful as possible for everyone! We have spent a year remodeling our cabin and starting our new country life. Come join us and see for yourself!Learn more about this land:Join us at what we call our little slice of Heaven! Our property will definitely make you feel relaxed and at one with nature and the great outdoors, but rest assured we have close access to shopping and restaurants all within a quick 10-20 minute drive depending on where you need to go.
We have plenty of wildlife for you to enjoy both during the day and at night. If you'd like to take a walk down our dirt roads, you are more than welcome to enjoy our little creek and the local animals that come to visit. If you are looking to hike, we have several places nearby we recommend! There are a few parks within approximately a 30 minute drive of us. Some of our favorites to visit are Natural Tunnel, Devil's Bathtub, Laurel Run, Bays Mountain, and Blue Hole. Only 1.5 hours away from the Pigeon Forge/Gaitlinburg area! We are located about 2 hours from Knoxville airport, and only 20 minutes from Bristol airport.
We are located off of 2 private drives with only 4 houses off both roads! While a 4x4 vehicle is not required to get up our driveway, please use caution when coming up our gravel road as there are rocks and dips along the way. We have limited parking in our driveway, so please be mindful of other guests arriving and leaving. There is a communal fire ring and charcoal grill available for use, but please bring your own supplies. Feel free to set up your tent anywhere in the front or side yard!
We are currently staying in the cabin on the property as we are remodeling the inside at this time. Our cabin is not available for rent at this time, but all guests are welcome to use the downstairs commodities. We live very conservatively, so we may not have many amenities, but you will feel very welcome and at peace at our property. Please do not feed or handle any of our animals without asking us beforehand. At any given time, we have 2 dogs, 4 cats, and a flock of chickens roaming around the property. While all of our animal family is more than spoiled and usually looking for extra treats from newcomers, please use caution around our roosters! They're job is to protect our property, and if you're in need of a morning wake up call, have no worries as the boys will undoubtedly provide you with the songs of their people.

Pitch your tent near the meadow, at the top of the mountain, or near the Rocky outcropping. A fire ring, adirondack chairs, and trash bins are provided. Enjoy hiking, 4 wheeling (Guest can bring their own ATV), swimming, tubing or fishing. Spear Head ATV trails are 7 miles away in St Paul, VA. The clinch river is a ten-minute walk. We offer tube rentals as well as drop off and pick up from the river. Rent our PVC inflatable dock to fish or swim off of. You can even take your dog on the dock.
Enjoy the amenities of our 60-acre Farmstead. All are welcome to schedule a visit to see the animals: horses, ponies, goats, pigs, chickens etc. Guests can forage for nuts, berries, mushrooms, and other tasty treats the land offers.

Our property is located in the Appalachian Mountains of SW Virginia, just a few a miles away from the Clinch River and over looking the Clinch Mountain. You'll escape the hustle and bustle by getting lost in our stunning views of the landscape.

Whether you are an adventurer or just looking for some relaxation amidst nature, our area provides plenty of activities for all. You can explore the trails in the nearby mountains, go kayaking in the rivers, or simply relax and enjoy the beauty of the scenery here on the homestead. There are also plenty of fun festivals and activities in the nearby towns.
Accommodation
Our rural homestead offers a quiet escape. Accommodations range from primitive campsites & glamping A-frame dry cabins to a cozy renovated RV with full amenities or a retro-vintage camper by the creek. Tents with setup are available for rent and you can purchase a 6 pack of eggs from the farm for your next meal.
Wildlife
As you explore the natural beauty of our homestead, you can also marvel at the wildlife. You'll see deer, turkey, lots of birds, and sometimes even bears. The night time is just as exciting as the stars fill the skies and you experience the light show of the fireflies in season.
We believe our space is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and breathe in better days. Come join us and create unforgettable memories!
Plans
We are building an educational homestead with farm stays here in rural SW Virginia to include dining experiences and food preservation classes. Our 35 acre farm is located on a mountainside with beautiful views of the Clinch Mountain. Our location is rural and peaceful with abundant wildlife. Deer, Racoons, Opossums, Bobcats, Bear, Fox, Groundhogs, and Turkey have been spotted on the property. We are a great spot for bird watching as well!
Camp Grassland:
Two of our prepped campsites are on a flattened area of the hillside field with access to a fire pit, log bench, and porta-potty. This location is in direct sun with beautiful views and easy access from the road. Parking at the top of the field is recommended unless you have a 4WD vehicle.
Farmhouse Holler:
2nd Campsite is located next to our old farmhouse on a lower section of the property. Its near the natural spring and is shaded. There are no convenient bathroom facilities at this location so it is recommended to bring your own. Reaching the porta-potty would require an extensive uphill hike or driving around to the other entrance. To reach this campsite, the driveway could be considered rough terrain so drive slowly. Lowered vehicles or those with little ground clearance are not recommended.
Each campsite has a max occupancy of 2 people. If you need space for more campers, please reach out to us about how many are in your party.
We can host groups with advanced notification.
Overlanding vehicles are welcome.
Attractions: If you are looking for birds-eye view of the area, visit the Mendota Fire Tower only 3.2 mile away. You can see it from the farm and see the farm from it. It's about a 15 minute hike from the road. You can choose the mildly challenging way up or take the old roadway for a smoother walk. Clinch River is only 20 minutes away. Cool off in the river or enjoy kayaking and tubing opportunities from Clinch River Adventures.

Friendly-leashed pets are welcome on the property. Remember to always keep your pet tethered as we have free roaming animals on the property. Never leave pets unattended on the property. Please clean up after your pets!
