The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas Trees. This did not last long :) - but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall! Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants! In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future. Set in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Roanoke, VA, we offer a 17ft bell tent nestled among mountain laurel and lush ferns along a creek bed on our very private four acre property. Ideal as a retreat for couples, writers, artists, nature lovers, hikers, bicyclists and wildlife enthusiasts. The tent offers a king-sized bed, outdoor fireplace, tent stove, upscale decor, full outdoor shower facility, composting toilet, separate pop-up private bathroom tent, and outdoor chaise lounge. Please note: there is not electricity on the site, although the outdoor bathroom has full plumbing. The site is 400 ft from the parking area and there are are six steps up a hill (see photos), so those that have mobility issues may not enjoy the stay. The driveway is rough, we're working on it. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet. About the listingPitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite.Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table. We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay. What to bring Your tent and camping equipment Potable water and/or water filtration and purification equipment Fire starting equipment if needed, assuming there is no local fire ban in place Pets are welcome During warm months, a swim suit to enjoy the river! Additional details to note There are grill grates provided but campers should bring their own camping stoves and cooking supplies if they need more than just a grill grate. No WiFi is provided, and there is limited reception for some cellular carriers. Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit.
