Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Linda is an awesome host and has a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy. I have found my spot and will be booking it as much as I can, so you better get there before I do.

Weekend Trip to Ladera RV Resort

Ladera RV Resort was a great place to stay. It's just far enough off the interstate to not be loud. The sites are large concrete pull thrus with full hookups. Each site has a large, level turf sitting area. Because we arrived late, we called the info number at the office and we're told what site we had. As soon as we pulled into the site, we were greeted by the on-site manager who gave us a list of all the local activities, restaurants, and laundry sites. There are several long term guests, but their area is along the outside perimeter and the Resort apparently requires they keep their sites spotless because the entire resort is extremely clean. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay and will certainly return.

This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.

It was a very clean park with a few wonderful large bathhouses and a pool, …mostly long term RVers, but everyone I encountered was very pleasant, I would stay again to do laundry and swim!
