Tarantula Ranch is inside a fenced compound two miles off the nearest paved road. We are in the Chihuhuan desert wilderness. Experience life at the end of the road!! Neighbors are far away so we have some of the darkest skies in the world not to mention peace and quiet with no traffic. We have spectacular mountain views with great sunrise and sunsets. Our terrain is the Chihuhuan desert which has cactus covered rocky mountains with all the desert plants. Although we have privacy we are only about 35 to 40 minutes from the Big Bend National Park and The Big Bend Ranch State Park. Although we are remote we have a very nice swimming pool and restaurant only about ten to fifteen minutes away. We have two cabins we rent out. The big cabin has four rooms and sleeps six. The other cabin is called the small cabin it is one room and sleeps two.

Lots of space, workers always friendly RV sites Have water and electricity and it’s perfect! We moved from the front area site 11 to back area site 15 for more privacy away from traffic and site 15 is next to shade area/ picnic table that we were able to enjoy. They did have traffic from workers going to the stalls behind us but less than store customers traffic which was better. Highly recommend this area. No cell service here but they do have wifi access for guests if needed. We use our Starlink so can’t rate reception of the WiFi.

Another outstanding stay!! Maru the camp host made sure to come by and check on us often. 😊 Jennifer and Ashley at the store were awesome. We met a few of the locals and hope to be a part of it all in years to come.

Cute little store on the way to Big Bend! They have RV hookups right next door! Ashley was very sweet and helpful! But I'd have to say our favorite part was the camp host, Maru! She is the sweetest orange and white cat! She checked on us every morning and night and made sure we were nice and comfortable!

We enjoyed our stay at the Little Burro again. The sites are clean and well kept and the views were fantastic as usual. We also got to meet a new addition to the resident burro herd. Baby, Dusty is adorable. If you are looking for a great spot to camp, I highly recommend Little Burro.

Great location, easy to get too. Great for three vehicles as we each had our own dedicated set up. Host were great with communication and ensuring our needs were met. Would consider using again next time we’re out that way. The host also gave us great information on locals spots to clean up and eat. Worth the stay!

Jackass flats was a great spot for our overnight stay. The donkeys and cat are adorable. Electrical hookup worked great. Only downsides were a little too close to the road (mild road noise) and the porta potty wasn’t the most pleasant, but then again what porta potties are. Perfect stopping point on the way north to Alpine or south to Big Bend. Definitely would stay again!

Excellent tent camping spot. There was no one around. The restroom was very clean. It had both a fire pit and a BBQ grill. It also had a trash can. The owners provided detailed driving instructions which was fortunate as we got their at night. If you plan to go to the Big Bend NP plan on about a 45 minute drive from the camp site to the Park HQ. Would definitely stay again. Enjoy!

We loved our spot at Jackass Flats! It was so beautiful out there, and the ladies were super sweet. If we ever make it out that way again we will definitely be staying there.
