The PARK at Brushy Creek

5 sites · Lodging, Tents55 acres · Trenton, TX
We're situated just outside Trenton on 55 acres of gently sloping terrain featuring a wide creek and expansive grounds beyond the Big Oak, perfect for exploration. Enjoy stunning sunsets, a clear view of the night sky, the tranquil sounds of the creek, and occasional visits from deer, all contributing to a peaceful retreat. Our property is evolving as we create manicured groves and open pastures for both our farm animals and guests. During rainy spells, expect some mud and occasional sightings of heavy equipment or tractors. Our livestock rotate between our two properties, so they may not always be here at The PARK at Brushy Creek. If you don't see them here, you're welcome to visit our other property across the road with the big green gate. Currently, there is no electricity or Wi-Fi on the property. Lighting is provided by solar power or batteries. Tent sites have access to a water spigot, and there's a Port-o-let nearby. This is rural country living; our neighbors' livestock and dogs may make sounds like bleating, barking, oinking, mooing, neighing, squealing, whinnying, braying, or whining at any time of day or night. We are conveniently located one hour north of Dallas Fort Worth, just 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, and within 10 miles of Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham. Trenton is only five miles away. Several lakes are nearby including Lake Bonham, Lake Texoma, and the new Bois' d Arc Lake. Fieldsong Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents13 acres · Lucas, TX
In 2013, we bought our 13 acres from a larger parcel of land that had been owned and farmed by the Snider family for 150 years. (Note that we live on Snider Lane). The Sniders played an important part in the development of our town, Lucas, and surrounding schools. The rest of the land has been sold to two families, and all three purchasers (that includes us!) are establishing small family farms. Hurray! Plus the Snider's old house and barn next door are being renovated by the new owners! Since 2013, we have brought in water and electricity to the land, built fences, a house and several barns. We have a flock of chickens, a bunch of loud, nosey Nubian dairy goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs. We farm organic vegetables, and have planted some fruit trees. We are committed to conservation of our land and the wildlife that call it home, and are working to restore our wildflower meadow (location of the campsite) to original prairie state. Come see us; we'd like to share it all with you! Learn more about this land: Come to Fieldsong Farm, absorb the peace and serenity, and leave refreshed! Stake your tent on the edge of our tallgrass wildflower meadow, and immerse yourself in diversity where the city ends and the country begins. Enjoy a fire in the fire ring from your seat on a "porch" swing as the sun goes down and the wildlife begin their nightly symphony. When the sun comes up, you'll have many choices to make--cycling, horseback riding, fishing, boating, paddling, hiking, running, strolling, visiting with the goats, cats and chickens, helping with farm chores, or just sitting to enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm. There are many great shopping and eating choices withing 15 miles. Breakfast will be brought to your campsite for an additional fee, booked in advance. Horse pasture rentals is available, also booked in advance. Camping in Lake Ray Hubbard with horseback riding guide

Overview

One of the largest lakes in North Texas, Lake Ray Hubbard, lies just a half-hour drive from downtown Dallas. When the temperatures soar in summer, pack your swimsuit and head to the water to cool off with a swim, picnic at the lakeside parks, or rent a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Or why not BYOB (bring your own boat) to cruise the 22,000-acre lake and try your luck fishing for striped bass and catfish? Lake Ray Hubbard has no public campgrounds, but a few RV parks and resorts sit within minutes of the lakeside.

Where to go

West Shore

A short hop from Dallas, Lake Ray Hubbard’s west shore has a number of public parks where you can picnic by the shore, drink in the lake views, or take a swim in the summer months. Play a game of volleyball and choose from two swimming beaches at Windsurf Bay Park, head to the golf course at Waterview Golf Club, or fire up the barbecue at Lakeside Park South.

East Shore

Drive across Interstate 30 to the east shore of the lake, where the Harbor at Rockwall affords some of the most impressive lake views. Take a peek at the landmark lighthouse, dine at one of the harborside restaurants, and stick around to enjoy the nightlife. To get on the lake, Chandler’s Landing Marina has boat rentals and a boat launch, or head north to hit the mountain trails at Squabble Creek.

North Shore

There are plenty of good reasons to visit the northern shore, including a golf course, a winery, and the lake’s only RV park, which sits between Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Lavon to the north. The neighboring lake makes a worthwhile detour, too, with scenic hiking trails, a public campground, and several sandy beaches.

South Shore

The south shore of Lake Ray Hubbard is the most undeveloped corner of the lake, making it a great spot for boaters to escape the crowds. Alternatively, head to the Heath Golf and Yacht Club, which has a championship golf course and walking and biking trails right by the lakeshore.
