1 night at Sparrow Bend River Retreat
Great experience staying in the Scamp camper. The space is tucked away from the other cabins given the proximity of the other sites. Very adequate amenities inside (cookware, towels and silverware). I would highly recommend it for couples, no more than 2 people can comfortably stay in the space in my opinion. Very responsive and professional customer service and the riverfront felt very private and fun! Definitely staying again sometime soon.

Absolutely amazing! I've been coming to the area (mainly Frio River) my entire life and this place might be my favorite place I've been! We stayed in campsite #3 and it was perfect. Plenty of room between other campsites. Very clean and had a fire pit area with a picnic table. Deer came to eat every morning and evening. We saw turkey as well. Went fishing and caught bass, catfish, gar, soft shell turtle and about a million perch! Water was low, but still had the perfect amount for swimming and cooling off. Indoor bathrooms with AC is a major bonus! The cabins on the property looked great from the outside. Truly worth every penny, we'll be coming back! Easy access into the gated property, which made us feel safe knowing our stuff was safe when we left to go to town. Can't say enough good things!

Camping spot was great! Tried to get a river spot first, but they were all booked up. Glad we ended up a Forest 1 because of the shade and close to bathrooms. Only about a 3 minute walk to the river. River was super fun. Also, short drive to Bandera which was a really cute town. Plan on returning in the future!

Sparrow Bend Retreat was the perfect camping getaway. Our spot was the closest to the river and we loved the short walk on a hot day. Bathrooms weren’t too far either. Definitely bring your own shade for this site as there is none. The owners are extremely nice and responsive.

We had a great time on Angela's property! It was so beautiful and well maintained and our campsite was so spacious and nestled away from the other campsites. We loved being able to walk down to the river and swim with our puppy.

Site 4 was honestly just as expected. Bit elevated view, shades, conveniently located between the river and the amenities/bathrooms.
The experience at the camp was great. We went on about a 3-4 mile hike in morning. We later discovered we could take the sub wheeling down same path but went much further. It’s also great for quads. Very scenic to see the texas fauna. Bit tragic to see how the river dried up over what i expect was last decade or so but also a steady reminder of climate and change.
We actually swam in an accessible part of river and it was quite refreshing i took tons of pics of the fauna, sunset, and trails. Would come back again but next time with quads.
Site also had amazing showers, clean bathrooms, firewood for purchase, and even charging ports.

We thoroughly enjoyed the campsite! Our 3 kids stayed in the river exploring and swimming from sun up to sun down. Beautiful river and scenery.
Bathrooms and shower area was very clean and convenient. We didn’t want to leave. Will definitely be planning another camping trip to this site soon!

Great spot! We were able to test out our new overland trailer and gear in a close by, easy to access space. Being able to park at our campsite was a must have with our setup. The river is great for swimming and paddle boarding.

Our first time camping here and reserved RV slot 2. It had aplenty of space, a firepit and shared picnic table. It was quiet and only one other RV neighbor. The river was within walking distance and we enjoyed our stay. Instructions were clear to find the place and although it was a dirt road and a couple of puddle holes, it wasn't bad to drive on. In slot 2 we did however find the tree above the site to be too low and dragged across our roof and shoyld be cut but no damage was done. The reservation stated it was a pull through but really was not. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay.

This is definitely one of the best camping spots we have been to! Access to the river was very easy, even from up the hill, and the water was absolutely perfect. The restrooms were nice and clean. We stayed in Spot 2 with our travel trailer and we were grateful that no one booked Spot 1 next to us so we had a good amount of space and privacy. There were plenty of other people there but everyone was respectful and we were pretty spread out so the noise was minimal.

Been to so many camp sites and Sparrow Bend is by far the best!! Clean amenities, spacious campsites, and the most gorgeous view. Sparrow Bend sets a high standard. It's hard to camp anywhere else without wanting to compare. It's doesn't get better, especially at such a reasonable price. Will be coming back over and over and over <3

The space was also bigger than we expected. Only thing I'd recommend is to bring some ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The dogs in the neighborhood would bark occasionally in the night/early AM and any sounds echo from the river canyon. It wasn't a deal-breaker but ear plugs made all the difference in sleep quality. Also, even though the river was low, the water was refreshing/clean & we were able to swim plenty (perfect for floats/paddleboards). Overall, a wonderful experience & we look forward to coming back!
