The campsite was very nice, with great personal touches and everything we needed during our stay. There were strings of lights hung throughout the main camp area, which was great for getting around at night. The large tent had everything one might need, from cookware and utensils, blankets, seating, as well as a bed AND a fan for cooling off. The entire setting was very pretty and relaxing, with the tent on a deck perched over large rocks with thoughtful mulched pathways throughout. It was a very nice place and our hosts were very easy to get in contact with, making sure we had a great time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great campsite with extra perks.

We found this place online and we are so glad we did! A short girls trip with daughters and their kids, this location made us feel like we were secluded, yet safe. Miss Judy had so many extra touches and a cozy atmosphere. We also got a visit from their peacocks in the morning! We would definitely stay again. Great site and great hosts!

This is a wonderful place for a family getaway. The large rocks on which the yurt is set make the location truly spectacular. I highly recommend purchasing firewood to enjoy making s’mores together. My five-year-old daughter loved visiting the dogs on the property, as well as the chickens, peacocks, roosters, and goats. In the evening, the lights surrounding the yurt create a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere.

This was the absolutely PERFECT getaway spot. The description online was accurate in every way. We enjoyed walking around, as well as making s'mores and hotdogs! Judy was super responsive, helpful, and intentional. What a beautiful, safe, and serine place! 🫶🌞

On the Rocks is such a rare and stunning place to camp! We really enjoyed the cozy fall setup inside the tent — it felt so welcoming and thoughtful. The fresh pumpkin bread was absolutely delicious, and the eggs are a must-try… so tasty!!
We had a great time exploring through the rocks and woods, and even though the site is right beside a road, there wasn’t much traffic at all during the weekend. It truly felt peaceful and semi-private.
This was such a refreshing and relaxing place to stay and spend quality time together. We’re so glad we found this gem and can’t wait to come back!

I stayed here for my bachelorette trip and it was so much fun! Not only was Hazel such a fun and simple stay, but the property was awesome too. I especially loved the dogs and cat (+kittens) and the other fun surprises that came with our stay. Lauren and Jeremy are GREAT hosts. We felt right at home and we all said we wanted to come back and/or live on the homestead!

Lauren & her husband were some of the most caring hosts I have encountered. We came here for a Bachelorette trip and we had so much fun and felt so safe. It was amazing! Close enough to drive into Nashville for a concert…far enough away to breath and reconnect with the earth. Simple living that forces you to slow down, and with enough comforts and convenience to keep that simplicity peaceful! The flowers and treats on our bed, farm fresh eggs, firewood, gas grill, firepit starter supplies…:and let us not forget the peacock!

We loved staying on Judy’s campsite! It was so beautiful being surrounded by so many trees and animals. Our favorite part was seeing the peacocks make their rounds. We enjoyed sitting by the fire. When it rained we sat inside the beautifully decorated yurt and listened to the rain tapping on the tent. Would definitely recommend!!

We enjoyed the clean and beautifully decorated bell tent. Perfectly nestled in the trees making a camping experience without the discomfort and work of traditional tent camping. It gave us the opportunity to disconnect from the hold of electronics and enjoy family time. In addition to the wonderful hosts and their family a highlight was the comfort of home with restroom facilities. Can’t wait to book our next stay!

What a cute little spot! The yurt is super comfy and cozy. We did order some choc chip cookies and a loaf of bread. The cookies were some of the best I ever had, and while I didn’t slice into the bread til 2 days later, it was still soft, fluffy, and made the perfect toast. Loved this space and so did our dog.

My kids loved exploring the rocks and looking at all the animals! The yurt is clean, cute, and cozy, and the campsite was perfectly stocked for novice campers like us. Great for young kids—room to run and explore, and only my youngest needed help on the fascinating rocks/boulders that the yurt is built on. I’d like to visit in other seasons—more foliage would make the campsite feel even more off the grid!

1 night at On The Rocks Campsite
An amazing place to have a little getaway even if it's local. My husband and I had a relaxing time listening to the rain while staying cozy inside. We ordered some cookies and they were so good with our coffee and hot chocolate.
I love the style and decor put into this yurt. Makes me want one of my own
They really put a lot of care and love into making this spot special. We would definitely go back to enjoy the fire pit sometime when it's not raining

Weekend Trip to Tipi Creek Glamping Crazy Horse
My husband and I needed a break after a stressful couple of months so I was so happy to find this unique glamping experience. The owners were so kind and helpful, and we had a wonderful time! There is neighbors in another tent a few feet away which I wasn't aware of, but they weren't close enough to feel like our privacy was being invaded. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to disconnect from the world for a bit, but also may not want to rough it. The hot tub and outdoor shower were a plus too! 🥰

Where to go
Edgar Evins State Park
This Tennessee park has everything you need in a camping destination, from lush wooded trails to a beautiful reservoir. Center Hill Lake has options for boating and fishing, and the scenic water can be enjoyed from the hikes that wrap around it. You can reserve one of the 60 campsites, which are elevated on wooden platforms. This park is about an hour and fifteen minutes from Nashville, and it’s also a great place to view wildlife, including bald eagles, hawks, and other local species.
Three Cedars of Lebanon State Park
Named after its stunning cedar forest, Three Cedars of Lebanon is a wooded park under an hour’s drive from downtown. Here, hikers will find unique features to explore, including rock gardens, sinkholes, creeks, butterfly gardens, rare plants, and more. RV and tent campers here have access to grills, bathhouses with flush toilets, electrical hookups, and even heated showers. This is also a dog-friendly park, though dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
Bledsoe Creek State Park
With over six miles of hiking trails, 57 primitive campsites, and a wide creek to enjoy, this recreation area is about a forty-five minute drive from Nashville in the nearby town of Gallatin. Take note that swimming isn’t allowed here, but know that you can rent paddle boards or kayaks directly from the park. Another option is to simply sit back and enjoy the birds that migrate through the area. There are three ADA compliant campsites and a wheelchair-accessible path.
When to go
Summer is a great time to visit Nashville, as you’ll get the warm weather and can take advantage of all the best swimming and boating activities. However, fall is also a great time to enjoy the changing leaves, and spring can be a nice time to enjoy blooming flowers and smaller crowds. The winter can be a nice time to visit if you’re planning on staying in an RV with hookups, or in a cabin where you can enjoy creature comforts, as it can snow in Nashville (though you won’t see heavy pileup).

- Unlike other US state parks, Tennessee doesn’t charge an entrance fee for its state parks.
- State park camping usually requires reservations and may cost a fee.
