We had an incredible stay at this campsite and couldn’t have asked for a better way to welcome the New Year. The host was exceptionally kind and welcoming, greeting us upon arrival and making sure we had everything we needed. We were able to purchase firewood directly from him, which made settling in easy and seamless.
The site itself was the best primitive setup we could have dreamed of — thoughtfully arranged with a fire ring, and we were provided with a trash can, and a honey bucket. Everything was clean, well-organized, and clearly cared for, which made the experience feel both rustic and comfortable.
Spending New Year’s here with my partner was truly special. The site was incredibly peaceful, surrounded by quiet beauty, and the nearly full moon and stars made the night feel almost magical. It was the perfect place to unplug, reflect, and simply be present. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, well-hosted primitive camping experience.

this place was perfect for our 25ft rv and our dogs! they enjoyed the wide open space and were very interested in the goats and chickens. the space was a little less private than i would prefer but it wasn’t an issue at all. robert was very nice and attentive, we loved this site and will definitely be back!

We had another great trip to the Hostetler Homestead. The highlight is always the animals (goats, chickens, and turkeys, but also the barn cats and their dogs). We had a perfectly clear night that allowed us to enjoy the stars. We even caught the ISS flying over. Andy and Annie are great hosts and we look forward to more trips in the future!

Loved Lost Acres so much! Vinnie gave us a great tour of his favorite places on the property, and he was so, so accommodating and helpful. The property is super nice and private, but it's also very close to a Dollar General in case you forget something. Will definitely be keeping this site on our camping rotation!

This is a tranquil, very private alternative to crowded, noisy park campgrounds. We stayed just one night in a tent on a cross country trip. The chickens and goats made us feel right at home and would be fun if you are traveling with young children.
Communication with Robert was always prompt and accurate and we felt welcome and safe in this space.

Awesome stay.. the beautiful, private surroundings, along with the quaint sights and sounds of a few chickens and goats make this hipcamp a great find.
**Additionally, and a big perk and unique to any hipcamp I have stayed. Robert was a Chef in his previous life but continues to share his love for food as he offers dinner service which will exceed your expectations / compares to the very best restaurants we have dined.
Robert is an excellent host.
Recommend highly / will stay again!

Even though the RV pad and the spot we used for our tent and hammock were right next to the host's house, aside from the times we'd see Andy tend to the animals, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Having access to all the animals was amazing. All the goats were super cute, but Cinnamon was our favorite. ;)
We were introduced to Sparkles the cat on our hike down to the Duck River. She appeared out of the woods and escorted us down and back. She even hung out in our tent and hammock off and on through the nights.
We definitely look forward to coming back in the future.

We had a wonderful time camping at Hostetler Homestead! We’re hammock and tent campers, and while there weren’t trees suitable for hanging hammocks, we brought our hammock stand and set up comfortably behind the shed near the water spigot.
The animals made the whole trip extra special. We loved playing with the goats, they were curious, playful, and super entertaining. And the cats were so sweet, especially Sparkles, who slept near us both nights like our personal campsite protector. 🐾
The property was clean and peaceful, and the host was welcoming. We had 1 bar 5G with AT&T, so internet was no problem.
If you’re looking for a relaxing stay with amazing views and with a touch of animal magic, this place is perfect. We’re already talking about coming back in the fall when it’s cooler. We can’t wait to see Sparkles, Cinnamon, and Kevin again.

This site is in the host's backyard, but unlike some other backyard spots, it feels really special. The concrete pad was nice, the neighborhood was gorgeous, you felt like you were in nature, and the goats were great neighbors. But the best part was the delicious homemade meal. Go visit Robert! You won't regret it.

Robert has a lovely property with a small animal petting area that can be enjoyed by both children and adults, there is also a swing set, climbing wall and trampoline. My grand kids had a blast.
The option to have Robert cook dinner is also available and we chose to take advantage of the opportunity. The meal was wonderful. Robert is a legit chef with lots of experience.
Definitely a 5 star experience. Robert is a wonderful host. Will definitely be back for sure!!!
