Hanscombe Point Plantation is a 300 acre working farm that has been in the Legare family for 9 generations. We raise beef cows, heritage breeds of pigs, laying hens, and water buffalo. Additionally, we raise vegetables and do a lot of agri-tourism including: summer camps, school field trips, and a large pumpkin patch maze each year.Our accommodations include a vintage camper, primitive campsites along a salt water creek, and an RV area on our farm.We are located just 30 minutes from nearby beaches and downtown Charleston. Use our property as your base of operation as you have fun at the beach or tour the historic city, or just stay for a quiet get away in the woods.There is also a lot of wildlife such as: wild turkeys, woodstorks, raccoons, and alligators. Fishing and crabbing are available on the salt water creek next to the campsite as well.We look forward to hosting you!

The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

The campsite was lovely. The quarter-mile dirt road was pretty bumpy, and I wouldn’t want to take it on a rainy weekend, but once we arrived, it was worth it. It was very primitive, yet still enjoyable. We had a great time. We camped by a river. The grand oaks draped in Spanish moss were absolutely beautiful.

My family stayed two nights at the magnolia site. The site was clean and tent safe, we didn't need a tarp to protect the bottom from small brush or rocks. There was a nice camping toilet that was clean and right on site. Only interacted with host to buy eggs for breakfast but that was our choice, the host was friendly and I'm sure wouldn't mind more interaction if a camper needed it. Love the fact that they are a small farm providing non commercial goods to their community. We felt safe and secure in this site. Remember that this is a working farm and there will be farm noises. Thank you for hosting us.

The location on Google maps is accurate, but to find the last stretch you have to offroad a bit. RAV4s can get in all day, but I'd be worried about sportier sedans. The 5 sites are pretty much next to each other in a forested area. Has an outhouse (vault toilet) and a porta potty. They also have firewood for sale on site which is nice. Overall pretty bare-bones for a campsite but gets the job done and location is great!

Hanscomb point plantation gave us all we could handle and then some. Beautiful sites, perfect tree coverage due to our weather situation, Interesting pathways to travel due to that weather, but all in all a fantastic experience for our Troop to rest and grow as campers while staying in the area for the weekend. Thank you for the opportunity to stay on your land, some of those water hazards worried me for a bit when traveling out, but we managed like true scouts and blazed new pathways forward along the way. Would recommend your camping area to any asking.

I loved camping here! It was so nice to have an outlet to use while camping! I felt very safe as a solo camper. I was met by some sweet fur babies that enjoyed my pets that's always a great Will definitely return for more stays thank you for your hospitality!
