We have 104 acres along the Allegheny river that we are willing to share with people who enjoy the outdoors. My husband and I, have been living here for twenty years and just enjoy the beauty this valley has to offer. We see bald eagles everyday, and every once in while some otters can be seen playing in the river.
Black Fox Island is visible downstream and provides a pool in the river that is a mile long. A person can easily paddle upstream; when the river is at normal summer levels.
Over 100 years ago, this was an industrial area with railroads, deep mines, strip mines, and gristmills. Some remnants of those times are still visible.
Paddling, biking, walking, fishing and swimming are some of the activities to do here, but doing nothing and watching the river go by seems to be the most popular.

The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions.
Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization.
Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana.
They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center.
Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

We will cater to what you would like to eat and dietary needs. You will be responsible for the price of food plus delivery charge of $40. *Please order 24hrs prior to your arrival.
2.Dogs A- Permitted on Leash: We understand that many campers enjoy bringing their furry babies along for the adventure. Dogs are welcome at our campground, but they must be on a leash or a run. The fields have some groundhog holes, and we would be devastated if your dog was running and broke a leg if a leg slipped in a hole. We just want them safe.
B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

We are Marty and Deborah. Welcome to our 40 hidden acres of paradise where we are surrounded by wildlife and raise much of our food including beef, pork, chickens and a productive garden. We have multiple campsites here from wooded to open field or by the pond so come and pick one that suits you best.
We are adjacent to the Kennerdell Tract Of Clear Creek State Forest which has miles of hiking and biking trails as well as the Allegheny River which provides fishing, boating, kayak/ canoeing opportunities. There is also The Allegheny River Trail which provides miles of paved bike trails.
What we offer: We are not a campground and do not offer multi-night stays
We are vandwellers when we are traveling. As such we understand the problems associated with finding a spot to overnight.
We offer just that, a safe, quiet stop over for the night. That being said, if you need an extra day feel free to ask, we often say yes.
We enjoy our quiet country life and request limited use of generators, Thank You

This was a perfect getaway with plenty space to setup a tent or hammock. It's also only 15 minutes away from a store if I forgot anything. Kate supplied plenty of split wood, picnic table, chair and bench. The view was amazing and I will definitely be back again!

We had a girls camping weekend at the farm, and it was an absolute blast! There was plenty of open space to create our own setup, we were far enough away from the city and close enough to Ohio Pyle to go hiking Saturday morning. Maggie was incredibly responsive and helpful when planning for our weekend. We will definitely be back.

Had a wonderful experience at Laurel Highlands! Maggie is a super friendly and attentive host, and the space was perfect for our needs. It’s not as tucked away as some other campsites we’ve been to, but that did not dampen the experience at all. It’s a bit elevated from the surrounding area and it was really cool to see the fog roll into the lower elevations at night. Some of the space is on a slight incline but it did not affect our ability to find a good spot for our tents or placement of our cots. I will definitely be planning to return again!

We had a great experience at Burnhead Grazings. The two campsites were scenic and spacious. The stream site felt very private and close to farm and accessing the facilities. Moire was a gracious host and cooked us a delicious breakfast. Emmy gave an enthusiastic and informational tour of the farm and we were excited about seeing the various animals on the farm. Overall we had an excellent experience and we can't wait to come back in the future!

This was a super secluded area! Tons of ground to explore. Kate was an amazing host making sure she was available for all of our questions, ensuring we had the best time. I would HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a weekend "away from it all".

Great campsite on a lovely property. Though I got in late and left early, I was able to chat briefly with Martin and Debbie who very friendly and welcoming. Quiet and very safe. Perfect pit stop off i80 for a long road trip. Highly recommend!

We could have stayed for a few days to check out the bike trails and hiking, but alas, we only had one night at the farm. Would definitely stay again. A bit off the beaten path, and so worth it! I took my family here over labor day weekend. We had the best time! You have the perfect view of the sunset and can see the river through the trees right from camp. The stars are absolutely breathtaking from the camp or a short walk into the clearing for a better view. Kate is attentive, knowledgeable and kind. We will absolutely be back.

Really beautiful property with several campsites to choose from. Very private and rustic. There is a serviceable outhouse, fire ring and picnic table. He is working on a shower! Great place for a one-night stop.

What a hidden oasis! Peaceful in so many ways. Beautiful clean property with lots to explore. Being able to sleep riverside added a special touch. Sunsets and moon rises were unreal. Hosts made the group of girls feel welcome and safe. 5 stars!

Everything about this camping destination is special. The ambiance of the environment is hard to beat, we stayed adjacent to the stream and tied our hammocks up right alongside the water. We enjoyed our conversation with Moire and with Randy and our dog had a fun play session with their dogs. We forgot to make our way to the swing overlooking the pond but next time we visit we'll be sure to remember. You won't regret staying here, what a treat!

The farm plot is a stunning property with a beautiful pond. Proximity to Indiana is only 3 miles, with the Hoodlebug cycling trail very close by. Wish we could have spent more time there!

We had a great time and wood was available too! Plenty of places to set up camp. Then there's the river. We didn't catch anything this day, but the scenery made up for that, 😄. Paul and Vallerie's place was amazing. It was clean, well kept, and had beautiful views of the river. It would be a nice place to go with a group of friends or family. I would definitely recommend the private spot to anyone that loves camping. Paul and Vallerie was very helpful on everything or if you had any questions.

I camped here in June 2023, and for the fourth of July in 2025; it's always a delight to visit and listen to stories by the Hosts Moire and Randy at breakfast!
Very polite and friendly, they have two dogs, one is a corgi who is free range and wanders the property.
Between the farm animals, wildlife and stunning firefly population, the surrounding scenery always dazzles me when I stay here.
The creekside spot is the way to go! Especially during the hot, dry season, the creek is nice to soak in.
Plenty of space, firewood, and room to relax in my tent with my bf and his dog. Town is 5 minutes away, including a Giant Eagle for groceries and other conveniences.
We had a lovely time!

I would absolutely recommend this site! Note that this is an open field (no trees) at the top of a hill, but there is a wooded area with a large table very close by. Worth it because the view is beautiful! It was also so convenient to already have a tent with a bed and a second structure set up. Maggie was a responsive, kind, and helpful host.
