This is a camping accomodation in an RV that is onsite at our property. You cannot drive it off the property, it remains here at all times. Just bring yourselves and your food and belongings! This 30 foot RV has a queen size bed, seating and dining area, small kitchen space, shower, toilet, refrigerator and electric, wifi and water hookups. Septic dumps are our problem, not yours. Historic farm property with standing structures from the early 1900's including the schoolhouse in our driveway and smokehouse at the very back of the lot. Our neighbor across the street grows 30 acres of the best alfalfa around, and we also have ranchers nearby raising sheep, top quality cattle, horses, pygmy goats, rehabilitated former race horses and even peacocks!
Great Bend proximate camping is hard to find. We offer a safe, secure place to camp 10 minutes outside of town with a beautiful farm pond to enjoy in the backyard. We were so honored to be named one of Oregon's top rated HipCamp sites in 2020 and 2021! Thank you! We have taken a break from hosting the last few years and are happy to be back with this new option.
Nearby: Explore trails and Bureau of Land Management (free and open federal property) access nearby for mountain biking, hiking and more. You are welcome and encouraged to explore our property and enjoy all of its peaceful tranquility, including two beautiful ponds. You can walk your dogs without leaving the premises.
Kids love our giant tree house. This is a great place for those with dogs and families. We have dogs and cats but they are friendly with other animals. We ask that you never bring a pet with you who might harm one of ours. There are also wild animals here like deer, hawks, quail, coyotes, porcupines, rockchucks, owls and more.

You will wake up in the morning to the sound of roosters crowing and our crew of friendly animal residents. It can be noisy at times but we find it delightful! The tiny house has huge, direct views of the Three Sisters mountains and Broken Top and plenty of outdoor sitting space to enjoy it and a little propane fire pit to enjoy the sunsets. The tiny house offers an amazing "glamping" experience and a unique opportunity to learn more about what we do at our animal sanctuary and even take a tour!
The Space: Our hand made tiny house offers a double sized mattress (bedding included) in the upstairs area (access via an attached ladder). Room for an additional person across from double bed also in upstairs area or put provided mat on the floor. Please note: the space is small for 3 people and better serves 2.
The Kitchen: Tiny house kitchen area has a small refrigerator, small counter space for meal prep, a tea kettle for hot water, water jug for fresh water, french press coffee pot and coffee/tea, hot plate for cooking, popcorn maker and popcorn, pots and pans, silverware, napkins, bottle openers, etc. We now have a new small outdoor kitchen with a two burner propane stove and an outside fish washing station.
The Facilities: The tiny house offers a composting toilet for night time pee pee needs and offers a port-a-potty for all other uses please! If you want to know a secret river dipping spot or where to go to find a sauna I’m happy to share!
Outdoor Shower: We have a lovely little “instant hot” shower for use on non freezing days.
The Location: We are conveniently located between beautiful Bend, Oregon and Sisters, Oregon. We have hiking and biking trails within .3 of a mile! We also have books to recommend 100's of other hiking, biking, nordic skiing and alpine skiing nearby! And, since we are outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, we are happy to recommend places to ski, hike, mountain bike, float or paddle!

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.

Our property is about 5 acres and tent spots are first come first serve with about 1 acre being closer to our house with shady grassy areas. The other 4 acres are in the pasture and mostly unshaded.
Pitch a tent out in the pasture, near the canal that runs through the property. We are a perfect location to the fairgrounds for the Farewell Festival and all Bend festivals throughout the year. We are 4 miles to the festival sights in Redmond and 20 min to Bend. We offer shuttle rides to and from the festivities so just enjoy the ride, enjoy the show and come home for a relaxing evening under the stars.
If coming for The Farewell Festival we offer the purchase of a weekend shuttle pass to and from the fairgrounds for the weekend so you can enjoy your time and not spend it stuck trying to get out of the parking lot!!
If you are bringing an RV or trailer we have hookups for electric (first come basis).

This is a camping accomodation in an RV that is onsite at our property. You cannot drive it off the property, it remains here at all times. Just bring yourselves and your food and belongings! Historic farm property with standing structures from the early 1900's including the schoolhouse in our driveway and smokehouse at the very back of the lot. Our neighbor across the street grows 30 acres of the best alfalfa around, and we also have ranchers nearby raising sheep, top quality cattle, horses, pygmy goats, rehabilitated former race horses and even peacocks!
Great Bend proximate camping is hard to find. We offer a safe, secure place to camp 10 minutes outside of town with a beautiful farm pond to enjoy in the backyard. We were so honored to be named one of Oregon's top rated HipCamp sites in 2020 and 2021! Thank you! We have taken a break from hosting the last few years and are happy to be back with this new option.
Nearby: Explore trails and Bureau of Land Management (free and open federal property) access nearby for mountain biking, hiking and more. You are welcome and encouraged to explore our property and enjoy all of its peaceful tranquility, including two beautiful ponds. You can walk your dogs without leaving the premises.
Kids love our giant tree house. This is a great place for those with dogs and families. We have dogs and cats but they are friendly with other animals. We ask that you never bring a pet with you who might harm one of ours. There are also wild animals here like deer, hawks, quail, coyotes, porcupines, rockchucks, owls and more.

You will wake up in the morning to the sound of roosters crowing and our crew of friendly animal residents. It can be noisy at times but we find it delightful! The Space: Our hand made tiny house offers a double sized mattress (bedding included) in the upstairs area (access via an attached ladder). Room for an additional person across from double bed also in upstairs area or put provided mat on the floor. Please note: the space is small for 3 people and better serves 2.
The Kitchen: Tiny house kitchen area has a small refrigerator, small counter space for meal prep, a tea kettle for hot water, water jug for fresh water, french press coffee pot and coffee/tea, hot plate for cooking, popcorn maker and popcorn, pots and pans, silverware, napkins, bottle openers, etc. We now have a new small outdoor kitchen with a two burner propane stove and an outside fish washing station.
The Facilities: The tiny house offers a composting toilet for night time pee pee needs and offers a port-a-potty for all other uses please! If you want to know a secret river dipping spot or where to go to find a sauna I’m happy to share!
Outdoor Shower: We have a lovely little “instant hot” shower for use on non freezing days.
The Location: We are conveniently located between beautiful Bend, Oregon and Sisters, Oregon. We have hiking and biking trails within .3 of a mile! We also have books to recommend 100's of other hiking, biking, nordic skiing and alpine skiing nearby! And, since we are outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, we are happy to recommend places to ski, hike, mountain bike, float or paddle!

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.

We offer shuttle rides to and from the festivities so just enjoy the ride, enjoy the show and come home for a relaxing evening under the stars.
If coming for The Farewell Festival we offer the purchase of a weekend shuttle pass to and from the fairgrounds for the weekend so you can enjoy your time and not spend it stuck trying to get out of the parking lot!!

Bonita had the place all warmed up when I arrived and sent detailed easy check in instructions. I was there for cozy solitude and the bunkhouse delivered. I cooked all my meals and the kitchen had everything I needed. Would be excellent as a pit stop for folks exploring and also folks like me wanting a quiet spot to read, write, and enjoy sitting by a fire. Check out was a breeze. Will definitely be back.

This was our second time staying here. We really appreciate the generous check in time (1pm) because we can drop our trailer and easily get in a hike, etc instead of losing a day. Easy access to 97 and we were left to ourselves. It’s a big area where you can easily position your equipment to maximize privacy- though we only saw 2 vehicles drive by the whole time we were there. Easy to find. The view of the canal is amazing! If you pull in nose first, you'll have a better view out the side door of your rig, and a bit more privacy. You are parked right near a road that is only busy at rush hour times, it seems like. The road noise wasn't too bad. Michelle's property is beautiful. Michele herself is a very lovely person to talk to. We met 2 of her children as well. Very nice kids. If you have your pup along, go to Pine Nursery Park. It's not far away and their dog park is awesome.

My dog, Panzer, and I had a great stay here! We had originally booked site 4, but due to a no-show Cheryl said we could set-up in site 5, which gave us a ton of room to spread out that I didn't expect. It can be dusty, but I'm used to that in Central Oregon - having the gravel road cuts down on the dust quite a bit too (personally, I packed up my tent in the gravel). I was surprised by the complete lack of bugs, which was a great highlight. And I loved how close the restroom was - even being in the furthest camping spot, it's maybe a 2-minute walk. Once we got the lay of the land, the best part was being able to let Panzer run off-leash - he had a grand ol' time traversing the terrain. It was nice that Cheryl kept checking in on us as well - very personable and a great conversationalist.

Cheryl is a very friendly host and so easy to work with! We happened to be the only campers there when we stayed (I think a recent fire scared people away), and it was fantastic to have a real bathroom all to ourselves!
In fact, since we were the only campers, Cheryl suggested we switch to site 5 which is bigger and has more shade. We really appreciated that!
Our biggest complaint is no fault of Cheryl's; the land is just really dusty, and all of us and all of our stuff was very dirty. Otherwise, we had a great stay.

Spread out over nearly 200 acres, this massive forest offers ample opportunity to hike, bike, fish, and kayak. Popular attractions within the forest include Newberry National Volcanic Monument and Mount Bachelor.
Warm Springs
Owned by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, this sunny part of the state is characterized by rugged, arid landscapes and plenty of wild mustangs. It's also home to a number of attractions, including the Museum at Warm Springs.
When to go
Prineville is at its busiest in July and August, when kids are on summer vacation, though this time of year can be a bit hot for some people, with highs in the upper 80s and little to no rainfall. For more pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, the spring and fall shoulder seasons (in May and June and September and October, respectively) are ideal for many campers, with daytime highs in the upper 60s or 70s.
