Turkey Hollow is nestled in the rolling hills of Holmes County Ohio. We are right on the edge of the largest Amish settlement in the nation. The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 8 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels.

I started this 2 acre homestead earlier this year. It is home to myself, my three dogs, a couple ducks, turkeys, and a crap ton of chickens. I’m very close to all the creature comforts like Walmart and Target, but the property is wooded on three sides so you feel like you’ve gotten away from the city. There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys, NauitiVine and Magic City Brewery. If you enjoy boating Nimistila Reservoir (electric only very kayak friendly) and Portage Lakes are a quick 12 minute drive. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Dog-friendly, handicapped-accessible Porta-Jon with hand sanitizer, shared electricity for charging phones, pristine aquifer water, picnic tables, fire pits, fire-side benches, birds, butterflies, lightning bugs, wild turkeys, deer, and other wildlife are often seen.
Please note: We're located on a section of the Ohio-Erie Canal Scenic Byway, the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad, and at a 90-degree corner with a slight slope that causes trucks to downshift and brake. If you're a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs! We now offer disposable, individually packaged earplugs in our Porta-Jon.

We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy.
The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time.
Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table.
Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone.

I stayed at Kent's land as I wanted to fly fish at Apple Creek and the Upper and Lower Clear Fork of the Mohican. His spot put me 20 minutes or so to Apple, 15 minutes or so to the Lower Clear Fork and 20 minutes to the Upper Clear Fork. This made it a great place for me to make camp. While it is located in a "neighborhood" type of setting and isn't particularly remote, in the spring and summer when the trees are fully in leaf etc. it is likely quite pretty. It is rather bleak in the winter but frankly so is most of OH so that really wasn't an issue for me. I would stay there again if I planned the same trip. It is also perfect for exploring around downtown Loudenville which is a quaint town for sure.

We had a quick stop over at James farm on a road trip West and it was everything we needed. He responded quickly and even got us some fire wood last minute. We didn’t get to meet as we arrived late and left early but it was a beautiful place. The bathroom in the barn a great plus!

Some of the reviews are overly critical of Matt's camping area. The campgrounds are easy to get to, with improved gravel roads. The road leading to his land is mostly paved, but only one way. The 4x4 camp sites are well marked. I had no issue getting my pop-up camper in and out from one of the close to the road spaces. Kermit's bottom did require 4x4 when climbing the gravel hill. He clearly states this many times in the listing.
All of that being said, the campground is peaceful, serene, and very colorful during the fall. Firewood is provided for a small fee, as well as a fire ring and picnic table. Close to town as well - you can get whatever you need within 10 minutes. Currently there are outdoor showers and a porta potty. I will definitely come back, and I'm sure it will only be a better experience.

It’s an awesome little camp ground! Nice swim/fishing pond, an outlet to charge a phone, outdoor showers with a propane water heater, firewood available and a porta potty. The property was really pretty! Walked the creek bed to see some cool rock formations, bunch of wildlife and had owls hooting to wake us up both mornings. 2nd time there now, I will visit again! I walked past the cabins while I was there also, definitely want to rent one of those, they look really nice.

Camping at this site was great. The views are nice and you could see the stars clearly. Sheila was so nice and left us plenty of firewood to keep us warm as the night rolled in. I definitely recommend this site.

It is a beautiful and peaceful place to camp. There are a number of sites to choose from; in the woods or out in the open on grass. The only truly level place is on the grass near the road in so it is not an ideal camping spot for larger pull trailers or RVs. My camper is only 13' so it was just small enough. To my surprise there are a few power hookups and a water hydrant. Also, the owner has provided a port-a-potty and an outdoor shower with an on-demand water heater! He also provides firewood for a reasonable price. If you are a star gazer, there are clear views of the sky with no light pollution. If you like primitive camping with some amenities this is your place. I would definitely stay again.

This is my go to spot. I come to this beautiful property a couple of times a year. James and his wife are so sweet and helpful. They maintain everything really well.
Beware the wood site is full of ticks! We were pulling them off of our dogs constantly. But the site is very private and a perfect getaway.

This is a beautiful spot! I appreciated the diversity of site areas, in the grass under the sun or under trees, and the warm outdoor shower was a great amenity.
My only difficulty was getting there by bike. It's a tough climb no matter which way you go. I followed directions on the website to take the paved road on the way there from the OTET trail, which is steep with some blind turns. It felt unsafe given my slow speed and fast drivers, but maybe it was just the time of day. I chose to hike my bike down the gravel road (TWP 102) back to the trail the next morning since I wasn't confident my brakes could handle the descent with a fully loaded bike and didn't want to walk on the busier road. I would probably take the gravel road up if I had to do it again.

This was a great place to stay, especially if you are looking to explore Berlin or Millersburg. The sites were nicely secluded and every site had a fire pit and picnic table. It's helpful to arrive in the daylight for first timers so that you find the right sites. Regular camping is a left right after registration. Cabins and the group sites are farther down the hill. A beautiful place to stay and we'd happily come back.

Jim greeted us as soon as we pulled in and was absolutely lovely. His property is clearly very cared for and built with a lot of love. His pond is perfect for relaxing and our pup had an amazing time. There's a Walmart about 8 minutes away, which was great considering I forgot about 10 items haha.
We will definitely come back and camp again!

This place is tranquil, beautiful, & quiet.
There is a lot to do:
Kayaking, canoeing, hiking trails, you can swim & there is a creek that runs through.
We LOVE this Place!!!

Phenomenal spot, given its close proximity to just about anything in the area it was nice having a short drive to our kayaking and hiking spots. The property itself is quite large and secluded from everything around it. Though if u got hungry and don’t feel like cooking it’s a 2 minute walk into town. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back with my friends.

This is a beautiful property with everything you could want for a relaxing camping trip. I was greeted warmly and my campsite was clean and ready to go.
Restrooms are available in a gorgeous barn near the house. There are hiking trails, fishing, swimming, and loads of birds to watch if that’s your thing. Even an eagle made an appearance!
My dog and I had the best time and will definitely be back!
