Rusty's Retreat

12 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Fostoria, OH
We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Scott and Amy's Rural Respite

21 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Botkins, OH
This 80 acre farmland has been in the family for 6 generations. Some of the land is still used for farming to this day. The old barn, built in the late 1800's still stands. Now there is also a motocross track on the property. The track is only open occasionally. Enjoy easy trails in the woods, feed fish in the pond, and if you would like to see our goats and chicken we can arrange a time to introduce you!

Farley’s Farm Sanctuary

1 site · Tent5 acres · Swanton, OH
Farley’s Farm Sanctuary is a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit animal sanctuary located on 5 acres in Swanton, OH. The campsite is located in the heart of the woods. This is a hike in primitive camp site (about 1/4 mile walk depending where you park) . We have a wagon and wheelbarrows available for use for hauling stuff back to the site. All money raised from this camp site goes back into building our sanctuary and provides ongoing care for our rescued animals! Oak Openings Metropark (including HEAVY Brewery) is located less than 5 miles away and offers a plethora of outdoor activities. Also located nearby is Johnston’s Fruit Farm (apple picking, pumpkin patch, fresh cut flowers, etc.) Tano’s Pizza (we recommend V-6 without cheese plus breadsticks no parm) and China Garden (vegetable tofu!) will deliver food here. The campsite includes a fire pit and composting toilet!

Oak Acres

11 sites · Tents3 acres · Monroeville, OH
This rural and tranquil area offers the perfect setting for connecting with nature. If you're seeking serenity, this site is for you! Mostly shaded and private, with a few hours of evening sun, it's an ideal spot to hang your hammock or explore our 1 acre of woods, especially during early spring when Morel Mushrooms abound. Come early June, wild berries blanket the property, yours for the picking. Keep an eye out for turkeys and foxes wandering through the fields below. Kids are welcome to enjoy the playground area and trampoline. Please note, there is currently no access to the swimming pool for guests, but we hope to change this by mid-summer! Looking for water activities? Jason Sparks Memorial Park in Monroeville (just 10 minutes away) is perfect for kayaking or canoeing along the river. Stops along the way include the famous Blue Bridge, Milan Wildlife area, The Coupling Metropark, or the city of Huron. Depending on where you pull out, expect your trip to last 2 to 6 hours. If needed, we can arrange to pick up 1-2 of you and bring you back to your vehicle (we cannot transport kayaks/canoes). For fishing enthusiasts, the river and two reservoirs within 5 minutes from the property offer ample opportunities. Other nearby attractions include: Cedar Point: 30-minute easy drive Catawba Island/Put-in-Bay: 37-minute drive Attica Raceway: 20-minute drive (Friday night racing) Summit Motorsports Park: 16-minute drive (check website for schedule) https://summitmotorsportspark.com/events/21376
