Christy’s land was perfect four our family with two young kids for a fun Fourth of July weekend. We had privacy right by the creek and set up hammocks in the woods. She had activities set up with prizes that my kids went crazy over. We enjoyed fishing and thought the bullfrog pond was so cool. We were checking off Ohio animals and creatures and we saw so many right on her land and is a pollinators dream! Her land is close enough to Alum Creek if you want a water day which we did and fully enjoyed! Forever grateful for Christy’s hospitality!

Weekend Trip to The Turkey Hollow Campground

Beautiful camp ground. There’s a pond you can fish in and there’s a 4 person kayak that is a ton of fun. The two small cabins we stayed in were perfect. The experience was well worth it. I’d recommend getting thee two cabins along with the meadow at the bottom of the hill (Kermit’s bottom) for large get-togethers. The only negative thing was that we couldn’t find the shower and didn’t have anybody that we could ask where it was. Great time if you’re looking for a secluded camping stay.

My friends and I came here for my birthday weekend and had the most amazing and beautiful time! We stayed at site #5 and it was perfectly shaded with a great water view. Plenty of space for tents and cars if dry. Richard was an amazing host! Please ask about his ranger talks and to be shown around his property. Be cautious of poison ivy and ticks.

Weekend Trip to Away From The World Farm

We wanted to camp where there were few people, no RVs and peace and quiet. That is exactly what we got!! The camp sites were not on top of each other and in the woods. The hosts were super friendly and accommodating as one of our campers accidentally pressed buttons on her phone (she was unaware) which called 911 and brought the sheriff’s department out to the property at 4:30 in the morning. We all had a good laugh! Definitely recommend!!!

Weekend Trip to Broken Oak Campsite

Fantastic! This is a very nice site. But the hospitality of the hosts and getting to interact with the animals made our experience better than we imagined! Highlights of our trip include being invited to bottle-feed a baby goat, fun and very successful fishing in the pond, and making friends with the 5 barn cats. (The pond is across the street behind the barn. But the hosts happily allowed us to fish and explore.) There is quite bit of poison ivy off the mowed pathways. But the camp description warns to stay on the paths, and we were able to do that with four active kids in 1st-7th grades. The peacocks are also beautiful and fun to see, but they can be noisy at night, so if that would bother you, it's something to consider. We will definitely be back! I think camping here is going to be a core memory for our kids! THANK YOU!

Weekend Trip to Shady Owl Ranch

This was a great place to stay for the weekend! It’s was so peaceful and relaxing, definitely recommend checking out their trails on the property but wear bug spray! We did go to quite a few of the restaurant recommendations and they were delicious! I would say before you buy groceries check out the cookware they have and just be mindful that there is really only the fire pit to cook food. Me and my boyfriend got a lot is use out of the pond for fishing, which was very nice for spending time together. Overall great property and place to stay- it was beautiful!

Weekend Trip to McKee Farm - Treehouses and Camping

We had a wonderful stay at the Oxley! The A-frame and outhouse was as clean as a whistle, and the view from the deck was absolutely beautiful! There was quite a bit of noise coming from another campsite, and lots of ATV noise going up and down the road into the evening, but it was no fault of the host and it did quiet down after a while. The hosts are very responsive and we were grateful that they allowed us to stay on their farm. 100% will stay again!

Weekend Trip to Good Knights Reserve

Great secluded camping site!!! There was a very large tree that was perfect for two tents and the picnic table. The fire pit was under a beautiful star filled sky and the pond was perfect and gave our dogs a chance to wade/ swim. Great spot, we will definitely be back.

Christy’s place was gorgeous! She has walking paths through groves of trees and through the meadow. There were so many fireflies - the woods looked like they were twinkling all night. We saw deer and frogs along with Christy’s farm animals. The whole place is so quiet and peaceful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

We've stayed at James's campsite 3 times now and it was a great place to tent camp everytime! It is a peaceful, fun spot to stay! The bathrooms are convient and clean.

1 night at The Turkey Hollow Campground

This was a cool spot! We stayed at the first site. There wasn’t anyone else there. Felt safe. There was some construction in the morning but it didn’t really bother us. The showers are open so you can’t shower unless you have a bathing suit or want to just rinse your feet or something. It was nice flat land. The pond was pretty but didn’t go in or near it really. Nice to have a place to throw garbage. Running water to wash dishes was nice. We didn’t drink the water but the construction workers were.

Wonderful and quiet stay. Beautiful acreage. Would stay again for sure.

4 nights at The Lake at the Flying J Farm

This is one of the few places we come back to over and over. I believe this was our 6th year and our 8th stay. We had never stayed at site 1 before (w typically come early or late in the season during cooler weather and always stayed at site 3), and it was so nice under the canopy in the shade. It rained a bit but the site had good drainage and didn't stay muddy. Our host was gracious as always, and invited us to sample some of the blueberries in the food forest that were just ripening. Delicious breakfast!

2 nights at Shady Owl Ranch

We had a great time staying Amanda’s cabin. We were thankful to have a place to stay with our 5 dogs during a cross country move. We got to meet their turkeys and kittens. We had a lovely, peaceful stay and would definitely stay again!!

The Lake at the Flying J Farm

The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner. Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures). Trash. This sustainable farm has no garbage hauling, please carry away your trash.

The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

Shady Owl Ranch

Shady Owl Ranch is a 18 acre non-profit animal sanctuary with dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and turkeys. The cats and poultry are free range so if you are fearful of chickens, ducks or turkeys, you probably shouldn't stay here. 😁 Owners Chuck and Amanda moved from Northern California and re-established their rescue here in Central Ohio. We have two finished studio cabins. They are very close (2 miles) to the town of Mount Vernon, OH with hiking trails on the property. Pets are allowed but there are free range animals on the property so their safety is priority. We have added a 2 acre fenced in area for dogs off leash. It's our version of a Dog Park. Plenty of bike trails around town and only 20 miles to Mohican State Park. Farm fresh eggs from our rescued chickens and local honey are available for purchase. Money from our vacation rental helps with feeding our rescue animals and expanding our non-profit animal sanctuary.

Good Knights Reserve

Good Knights Reserve is located in Union County, Ohio just on the outskirts of Marysville. With a total of 60 acres, you'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site currently offered. Here you can pitch your tent, build a campfire, catch and release a few fish from the pond, or choose to sit on the floating dock with your feet in the water. A shooting range for target practice is available or take a short walk through the wooded trail. The camp site sits next to a wooded wetland so you'll fall asleep to the sound of croaking frogs and various other creatures communicating back and forth. A clean porta-john is close by and a small charcoal grill and picnic table with seating for 8 is available. The Marysville Upground Reservoir is just 2.4 miles down the road for more outside activities. There's also a dog friendly winery and brewery 2 miles away. Marysville boasts 5 golf courses and has several quaint bakeries and boutiques in the uptown area. Come visit Union County and discover the unique history behind its 7 covered bridges then return to Good Knights Reserve for smores around the campfire and a peaceful night's sleep. Route 33 is easily accessible.

Hidden Hill Farm

Campsites situated on an 100+ acre estate. The farm is characterized by gently rolling fields and woodlands. Walking trails lead you beneath large white and black oak, sassafras, maple, beech, cherry, hickory, pines and more. Fall is a beautiful time of year to take pack a picnic and take a walk in the woods. Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, song birds, raptors and waterfowl are common sights on the farm, along with an elusive bobcat and mink. We operate two greenhouses on site where we grow native shrubs, arborvitae and succulents. Current campsites are nestled along the tree line of a picturesque field, and will be next to the creek. Each site has its own fire ring and table. A common area overlooking lush wood lined fields features a pine log swing, a large fire pit with stone seats, and a hammock. There are many things to see and do within a 20-30 minute drive from your campsite, including Mohican State Forest, State Park and Adventure park, Malabar Farm, Tree Frog Canopy Tours and Ohio Amish country. Learn more about this land: This is an exclusive camping experience. We currently allow no more than four filled camp sites at a time on the property. This way we can better ensure that your stay will be quiet, relaxing and completely enjoyable. All campers at sites 1-3 must be over the age of 18. Site 4 allows children and pets. This is to ensure a quiet and relaxing experience for all campers. Campsites are situated on an 100+ acre estate. The farm is characterized by gently rolling fields and woodlands. Walking trails lead you beneath large white and black oak, sassafras, maple, beech, cherry, hickory, pines and more. Fall is a beautiful time of year to pack a picnic and take a walk in the woods. Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, song birds, raptors and waterfowl are common sights on the farm, along with an elusive bobcat and mink. We operate two greenhouses on site where we grow native shrubs, arborvitae and succulents.Current campsites are nestled along the tree line of a picturesque field, and will be next to the creek. Each site has its own fire ring and table. A common area overlooking lush wood lined fields features a pine log swing, a large fire pit with stone seats, and a hammock. There are many things to see and do within a 20-30 minute drive from your campsite, including Mohican State Forest, State Park and Adventure park, Malabar Farm, Tree Frog Canopy Tours and Ohio Amish country.
