The road that this camp was on had to be raised when they put the dam in, they even had to move the one room school house! Black Hand Gorge preserve isn't far from the camp, lots of hiking and bicycle trails. Dillon State Park is 10-15 miles away with trails for horses, walking and biking. We had a quick stop over at James farm on a road trip West and it was everything we needed. He responded quickly and even got us some fire wood last minute. We didn’t get to meet as we arrived late and left early but it was a beautiful place. The bathroom in the barn a great plus!

We had a great time at the swimming hole- the host Carlos answered all of our questions and the location was so cool. We took two 8 year old boys and they were in heaven fishing and playing in the creek. We are already aiming on bringing them back in the spring. Nice and flat terrain for our tent and picnic table was clutch. Definitely would recommend.

Wow, what an amazing stay! Carlos was such a friendly and helpful host, and his directions made getting there super easy. The campsite was beautifully set up and had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The creek was wonderful and we loved waking up to the peaceful surroundings. This site was just what we were looking for! We stayed in a rooftop tent on our truck and were able to drive right to the site and found a great level spot to park. Our dog was happy to be able to run around. The campsite was clean and firewood was there waiting for us. Our hosts were responsive when we had questions. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area again.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was right by the river, with a covered pick nick table, plenty of free firewood, a place to fish or swim. There were a number of spots to pitch a tent with out roots, nice even ground. A place to cook was also a nice touch.

This is my go to spot. I come to this beautiful property a couple of times a year. James and his wife are so sweet and helpful. They maintain everything really well.
Beware the wood site is full of ticks! We were pulling them off of our dogs constantly. But the site is very private and a perfect getaway.

Weekend Trip to The McIntosh Pines
Beautiful backwoods space w a scenic view and trails. It was a great way to escape for a weekend away w the dogs and our rooftop tent. With most of the leaves off the trees, we we able to see a gigantic hawks' nest although it appeared the couple had not yet returned for the season. It was spectacular to see amongst the backdrop of the creek valley. Very kind host and hostess.

Jim greeted us as soon as we pulled in and was absolutely lovely. His property is clearly very cared for and built with a lot of love. His pond is perfect for relaxing and our pup had an amazing time. There's a Walmart about 8 minutes away, which was great considering I forgot about 10 items haha.
We will definitely come back and camp again!

This place is tranquil, beautiful, & quiet.
There is a lot to do:
Kayaking, canoeing, hiking trails, you can swim & there is a creek that runs through.

Great little piece of land. It had lots of little things other places don’t have, like hammocks and floats for the creek. Access to the swimming hole and pebble beach are down some pretty steep embankments, but there are ropes there to pull yourself up, if you’re so inclined. The shelter over the picnic bench was nice too, though rain wasn’t a factor for me. I didn’t time it, but it’s about a 60-90 second walk from the parking area to the campsite. Carlos has a cart there for hauling your stuff to the site. Instead of making 4 trips carrying things, I made it in just one trip with the cart. Wanting peace and quiet on my solo trip, I was a little concerned about road noise due to the proximity to the road. It ended up being a non-issue for me, as the road was sparsely traveled during the day, and almost no overnight traffic (that I noticed!).
