We love the island feeling it has with a little log waterfall and a lot of natural sand between our toes. We can provide new queen air mattress for A frame, up to 4 hammocks, or feel free to bring your own, a tent, a small camper, etc. The road in is relatively flat, but is natural ground. A primitive outhouse is on site as well as a gas grill and firewood. Dogs are welcome if picked up after. We have a quiet generator available for rent.

Valle View Camp Spot! A flat and private spot. Praise Be! Quiet area of Valle Crucis. It is just 2 miles from the original Mast General Store. Larger units must back in carefully between the guard rail and the ditch. The lot had some damage from Helene. This is a parking lot of an old church and sits by two small creeks. Maximum stays are up to 6 nights. No water, no septic. No generators are allowed.  Large concrete pad/parking lot for RV and an extra car or two. This is a campsite only, an RV is not included. We have electricity but no water or septic.  In the spring, summer, and fall - We have a toilet and hand-washing sink inside the building that you may use if you select this as an "add-on". A code to enter the building will be sent if you add this feature. This site does not have potable water and does not have a shower. The closest public bathrooms are at Valle Crucis Community Park. Mountain Dog Coffee and Holloway Corner Kitchen are private, but good places to start your day with coffee and/or food. Please respect our neighbors by limiting noise. This lot is private, but you may see or hear the neighbors. Dogs must always be on a leash when outside your RV or car.  There are no garbage cans or trash pick-up; pack it out, please. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage.  We DO NOT advise taking Clarks Creek Rd. from 105 to get to this location. You must travel to Clarks Creek through Valle Crucis via 194. You must also detach any trailer or towed items a mile or so before the camp spot and before the switchbacks. Please view the map and be comfortable with travel to our campsite. There are sections of the road with no shoulder and pit holes due to current construction/road work. There is very limited cellular service in this area. WiFi & WiFi calling should work fine. --- We have a 50 AMP Hookup NO water NO septic. If you have 2 cars, trucks or RVs in the same group you may add them on as another unit. Grandfather Mountain Campground on 105 allows non-guests to use their dump station for a fee. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. Take the trash there before hooking up and leaving as that section of 194 has a large truck warning.

Welcome to Peak A View Farm & Camp where Rest and Relaxation are a Reality! Come enjoy the beautiful landscape of the western mountains in Ashe County, NC on ninety acres of farmland and forest surrounded by mountain peaks, the New River and breathtaking sunsets. On the drive in, to the southeast you can see Peak Mountain for which the property was named. The mountain is part of the New River State Park and is known for its scenic river views and hiking trails. Two RV buddy campsites are available on the property. Campsite #1 was originally created for our personal use. Campsite #2, so our fellow camping buddies could join us. Although a short drive from our homes, the serenity of the property always makes us feel as if we’ve travelled many miles. Campsites are laid out in an ‘L’ shape which creates the perfect group camping experience. Guests can choose to camp alone or invite others. Campsite 1 and 2 are reserved together as one booking due to the close proximity of the sites. The property is secluded, but easily accessible. Campsites are full hookups which include water, sewer and 50 amp electric. Both sites can accommodate any size RV. They are gravel and level which makes getting set up easy. A 30 x 30 shelter with concrete floor, lights, picnic tables and trash bin is nearby, which is a great asset in any weather. A fire pit and chairs are a nice addition for evening enjoyment. Firewood is provided. WiFi is available. The area is pet friendly. Pets can be off leash, however, you might consider leashing your pet, as wildlife is frequently seen. If your furry friend is anything like our dogs, the chase is on when a deer, squirrel or turkey makes a sudden appearance! During your stay, take a 7/10 mile walk down to the New River. Pull up one of the chairs on the small covered deck overlooking the river, sit back and take in the sounds of the calming waters. Watch floaters, kayakers and canoe navigators pass by or enjoy your own floating, fishing and swimming. On the other side of the river is part of the New River State Park. A 15 minute drive will take you to downtown West Jefferson for restaurants and shopping. Visit the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce online or downtown for information on our county’s many attractions and events.

Awesome spot!! Ample room for the dog to run around. The proximity of the river access was such a cool surprise! The weather was rather warm for November, so we could utilize the river. Super private. The wildlife/cattle are cool. Incredible stars at night. We had a bit of rain and a sort of crazy windstorm one night, but felt super secure in the structure. This is an ideal beginners “primitive” camping spot.

Lovely place to camp. Very private and peaceful with the creek nearby. Hard to beat for a small group of campers looking to have their own space. Plenty of firewood was provided, a few extra chairs, and the A frame with the deck was oh so cute! There was plenty of room for a few tents. We didn’t use the grill. The toilet was a 5 gallon Lowe’s bucket with wood chips - primitive, but gets the job done! Not sure if this is an every night occurrence, but the cows in the nearby pasture were relatively noisy and interestingly never stopped moo-ing all night long. Wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for us (we kind of enjoyed it) but it wasn’t all that quiet. The stars were lovely on a clear night with no moon, though the nearby farms did contribute to some light pollution (understandably) so it wasn’t quite as dark as we were hoping for. We will definitely be back!

Great place to stay! Host are great people and very welcoming. The campsite is very private and has amazing views. We enjoyed relaxing fires every night and watching the fog lift to coffee in the morning. The access to the river is a huge plus. The trail to get to the river is beautiful itself, but the river front is perfect. Our dogs enjoyed running around and we enjoyed relaxing by the water. This place is added to our list of sites that we will be returning to in the future.

We had a great overnight stay! Cheryl is a fantastic host who was very attentive to our requests. Additionally, she communicated with us to solve a problem we had created with the bathroom lock late at night. We really appreciated the help when she could have just let it go until the morning!!!! The sound of the creek at night was spectacular. Set up was so easy. While the site is just off the road - there’s little to no traffic to cause any disturbance. We will stay here again. We had a fabulous time camping at Peak-a-View! We were welcomed by Penny, and she even had a bag with brochures to local activities. So very thoughtful! Full-hook up, private, AND gorgeous views could it get any better?! Yes, it can...because there was a magical trail to hike down to the river! We floated down the rapids, went fishing, and played games (there is an overhang at the river with chairs and a table). Our pup was able to roam free, and our children were able to ride their bikes down the drive. We were able to enjoy the firepit with the two chairs, and they provided firewood! The stars put on a show, since there is not light pollution. We saw many birds, butterflies, wild turkeys, and deer. The covered patio with picnic tables and trash cans was great for meals and games. There are a lot of great local hiking trails; we enjoyed hiking in Mount Jefferson State Natural Area. We also had a lovely time exploring downtown. We will be back!

Steve and Penny are amazing hosts. They met us at the property and made sure we knew our way around and gave us a ton of things to do nearby. The property is large, clean and private. The views from the site are amazing and having the pavilion as an option for a hangout, or for some foul weather is an added bonus. The riverfront has a little shelter with some chairs and you can pack a cooler and hang down there all day if you like. Be mindful it’s about 3/4 mile down and uphill, but it’s more than worth it. We’ll definitely be coming back.
