The place is thoughtfully laid out. Love the multiple housing options. We stayed in the yurt, decorated with intention. The lights at night in the trees made the evening feel warm and inviting. Bathrooms were clean. When entering the address in the gps be sure to put in the city Travelers Rest, address defaults to Greenville which is a residential area. Great stay, definitely want to try out another house perhaps the A frame house. :)

We had a great time at the Quack Shack!! Nick was super nice and met us at his pottery studio to show us around and then we had the place to ourselves all night. He was kind enough to leave us with scrap wood to make a fire in the chimnea!!! Everything was clean and the A-frame was super cozy. Absolutely wonderful glamping experience complete with two heaters to keep us warm all night, nearby bathrooms, and a stocked coffee/tea bar. We would absolutely come back and recommend this place to friends!

Weekend Trip to Milkweed Farm

I had a wonderful time staying at the Tiny House of Hosta! The home itself was cozy and adorable, and all of the bonus amenities exceeded my expectations! I loved the style and decor and loved the deck/hot tub setup, the hot tub was ready to go when I got there and the deck can be completely closed off which was a plus for my pup! The home offered anything you’d need for a getaway, including coffee and spices (which I find a lot of places to be lacking in!) and I loved the local/artisan touches I found throughout the home. The grounds were well maintained and my dog and I loved exploring the witches’ hut and the woods on the property. The town itself is quaint and picturesque with great cafes and local live music some nights. All in all it was a fantastic stay and I will definitely be back!

I loved staying on Nicks land, the site was beautiful and relaxing. He had all the amenities we needed and then some. He met us at the tea Hut to give us a tour of everything and updates on work he's doing to improve his sight which will include a sauna and another hot tub, So we will definitely be going back. He was a great host and he let us check out a little bit later to give us more time the following day to enjoy the shack.

Weekend Trip to Contrast Cove Glamping Dome

Ravi has a beautiful lot with excellent views. The dome was super clean with all the amenities you could ask for. We didn't leave the entire weekend. Just bring groceries. There is a nice wall unit that keeps the temp comfortable, PLUS an extra heater and fan. I'd definitely return.

The LED in the Hot Tub adds a little ambiance - though you'll probably be lost in the view of the stars and the setting sun.

Weekend Trip to Nantahala: Cabins & Campsites

Incredible views from a hot tub. Need I say more? This is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to disconnect from the rest of the world. The charming little cabin is just the right size for a couple or small family. Unbeatable year round views from that hot tub, I mean. You can’t beat it. We can’t wait to come back in the summertime and enjoy it again. Thanks for a wonderful break from our routine. We’ll be back for sure!

5 nights at Contrast Cove Glamping Dome

We stayed in the Contrast Cove dome in Hartford, Tennessee for 5 nights for NYE and after with our three boys (5, 5, and 7) and had a fabulous time! Our friends rented the dome next to it (Forest Fairy) for a few days and it was great to have everyone so close. I will start with my favorite part of the dome - the view! It was AMAZING. You can see mountains for miles. We even got snow so looking out to the snow cap mountains was very surreal for this southern girl. You do have a neighbor but we couldn’t even see the house and never heard anyone. We felt very secluded and the privacy was very nice. The dome itself was very cozy. We had snow and I believe one night it dropped down to 17 degrees but it was always nice and warm inside. There are heated blankets you can use as well. The kitchen had everything we needed and the induction stove, fridge, and dishwasher really made it beyond a “glamping” experience. The shower was always nice, clean and warm. There was plenty of storage as well. The enormous deck was perfect for our boys to run around and play. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and the fire pit on the deck. We made two trips to Gatlinburg while at the dome and it was pretty close. It was about 50 minutes away and pretty convenient to the dome’s location. Ravi, the host, quickly responded and helped with anything we needed throughout the trip. We will absolutely stay here again. Our boys called it “the igloo” and said they wanted to stay a million days. <3

We loved the cabin and hot tub! The cabin was also very well stocked with a few odds and ends in the kitchen like salt and pepper, olive oil, etc. It was so homey and lovely! Thanks to our hosts!!

For my birthday this year my boyfriend & I were going to go primitive camping 1 hour from where we live. Spots were filling quick so I browsed online for hours. I accidentally came across this listing & fell in love instantly. My 1 hour away camping trip with no running water or power quickly turned into a 3.5 hour away camping trip with a camper, hot tub, mountain views & ALL the fancy necessities a house provides. After my boyfriend & I both had a super tough week, I surprised my boyfriend with this upgraded camping trip & little did I know it fit right into his plan. I got to say "Yes" to my boyfriend right by the bonfire pit, surrounded by the mountains, & a sky full of stars. About the site: I don't feel like the listing photos really give the site justice. I arrived late after the sun went down & so the mountain view the next morning blew us away. It is absolutely breathtaking. My time spent here couldnt have been spent any better. My boyfriend & I checked in as a couple dating, & checked out as engaged. I hope to get to continue to come back to this same spot as its now our special place. I was able to make so many irreplaceable memories here & got to spend quality time with the person I love & I could never be more thankful for coming across this site & having this opportunity. ♡ If you're reading my review to see if you should book it, I hope you do. & if you do, I hope it brings just as many smiles, laughs and comfort as it brought us. We loved this tiny house! It was the perfect weekend getaway. We loved using the jacuzzi, sitting outside on the deck, and having a glass of wine by the solo stove fire pit. We had a short walk to a coffee shop in the morning and were a quick drive to some great hikes. I was impressed with every detail, down the high quality toiletries in the bathroom.

The Quack Shack

This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

Nantahala: Cabins & Campsites

We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there. Secluded Mountain Tiny Home & Barn

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more. Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being. This Spring (2016), we’ve increased the price a bit reflect more accurately our costs to maintain and improve the buildings & the property as well as carefully and lovingly transitioning it between guests. There’s local shopping in downtown Sylva and Dillsboro or it’s just a short drive to Waynesville, Cherokee and Maggie Valley. Our little town has a number of local craft breweries and restaurants to choose from. If you are outdoorsy check out the numerous hiking trails nearby or even whitewater rafting on the Tuckaseegee River or tubing at Deep Creek, or just sit by the fire and enjoy a nice quiet evening. Our little camper sleeps up to 4 people comfortably. It has running water and septic as well as a shower and a hot tub to relax in after a long day of exploring. We offer a gas grill for cooking and an indoor 2 burner range and microwave as well. There is a 4 cup coffee maker and a single serve Keurig for coffee lovers. We are fully stocked on essentials plates, silverware, paper towels, toilet paper and all linens are provided) so just bring your clothes and enjoy your camping experience at Coleman Flats! Please note: this property is located on a gravel road. No vehicles larger than a pickup truck are allowed. Two vehicles max. Other things to note - The cabin is heated by electric baseboards as well as a propane wall unit in the living area - The A/C unit in the loft window cools the loft as well as the living area and there is a second unit in the downstairs bedroom, as well as ceiling fans in all the rooms. - No indoor fires - Please note this is a remote location and while wifi access is available it cannot always be guaranteed.
