Weekend Trip to Lakeside Retreat

We loved camping on Neil's land! The private lake had great fishing and there was plenty of space for our dogs to run around. It was a beautiful spot and we will definitely come back!

Tent camping was great on the property, we stayed at campsite 2, plenty of space and flat land. Very nice that they had firewood available on the site. Also used the swing and picnic table. It was very nice to have a working toilet and water available. Great for just hanging out with the family and relaxing, private enough, not a lot of stuff for kids to explore, but close enough that we were to Kings Mountain Park. Very clean, had no problems.

1 night at Lakeside Retreat

Me and my pup spent a much needed evening at the lake side retreat. The hosts were very helpful leading up to the trip. The spot is well kept with lots of wildflowers and we really enjoyed our evening on the lake. We had quite a bit of rain for our trip so I was happy I brought some extra shelter from the weather. We will definitely be back!

We loved camping here! The creek is beautiful and our boys loved catching salamanders and crayfish. We shared the site with my father in law and we were very comfortable and spread out. The seemingly unlimited supply of firewood from the shed was amazing! There is a Dollar General 5 minutes away if you need to grab anything. It was also very nice being only 15 minutes away from all Kings Mountain has to offer. Thank you, David!

We enjoyed our two nights camping at Lucky Farms Under the Stars. Taylor and Marty were excellent hosts. Taylor was fast in responding to me on questions I posed ahead of the trip, while Marty met us on site and was very friendly. He showed us the lay of the land, and provided campfire wood, the yummy muffins, and a picnic table for our campsite. The campsite itself is very clean and was a nice setting under the tree canopy. The farm is peaceful and serene, and the very accessible primitive campsite is just what I was looking for to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. My two boys had a great time exploring the trails in the woods nearby that included lighted pathways, and a big rope swing across a ravine. My boys also enjoyed petting the horses several times in the nearby pasture. The distant road noise of I-77 can be heard at night but actually provides a nice white noise to sleep to. Thanks to Taylor and Marty for sharing their land for camping, we made some special memories. Rate it 10/10 , and would visit again another time!

Daffodil Bank had plenty of room for our family of 5. 2 tents, 1 single person tent, canopy tent with our folding table plus the camps picnic table, 2 cars, and a couple places for a hammock. All that set up and still have space to move around. The Porta potty was very clean and not far from our site at all. The creek was beautiful. Everyone had a very nice time. So sad we had to leave, but we will definitely be back ♡

Pondside Single, DBA Mud Puddle

Pondside Single and the lower part of my property were decimated in the catastrophic floods of Hurricane Helene, September 27, 2024. The 1st three photos are what it looks like now. Please know that we (and Bee Tree Valley) are still in the recovery phase, and it will take *years* to recover. Pondside Single still has the electric hookups and wifi that folks enjoyed. But it is no longer a tucked away, private, sweet and comforting place to camp. Please take this into account if you would like to book with us. Pondside Single pond was originally a small quarry outlier for Grove Stone Quarry in Black Mountain. There are many small quarries in this area that were dug in the 1940s and 1950s. After they finished their work, reclamation was done, and the quarries were filled in by the streams and tributaries which flow down this valley. It is a very shallow pond which offers sanctuary to birds, fishes, salamanders, frogs, snapping turtles, beaver and otters. I have installed a Clemson Beaver Pond Leveler at the overflow. This device tricks the Beavers and they can not hear or feel the water flowing out of the pond. It has been in place for 3 years and works like a charm. Beavers are very industrious creatures.

Located on family land granted by King Charles in 1685 we have worked hard to restore and refurbish in a sustainable way, using the trees and supplies from the land that they sit on. Hand crafting doors and furniture the way the family did it 140 plus years ago. The history of this place is deep, even the nails for the cabin and farm house that is now the clubhouse were hand crafted by my great grandfather in his blacksmith shop, along with the wagon wheels, horse shoes, misc farm utensils etc... there was no running out to Lowes to pick up what was needed, it was made in the blacksmith shop. We love riding ATV's and SXS's on the trails on the mountains that I grew up on with my 3 brothers, we hope the people who visit and experience the mountains feel about them the way we do, we love em. We like to give riding tours and talking about the mountain and its challenges. We named the park from the famous product that was created here during prohibition, Cherry Bounce Moonshine. You can visit some of the original still sites on the mountain, of course they are not operational today. About the adventure co side, We are an adrenaline pumping ATV and SXS park with 25+ miles of mountainous trails at four skill levels; Green (Easy), Blue (Challenging), Black Diamond (Very Difficult) and Double Black Diamond (Most Difficult). You can bring your own ATV or SXS or rent one of ours. We have cabins & camp sites that are accessed by ATV or SXS on the mountains as well as hiking or biking. We do not allow jeeps, trucks or dirt bike motorcycles on the mountain, just ATV's and SXS vehicles.

Rock bottom campground that I am rebuilding after hurricane Helene has 6-8 Campsites right on beautiful Buck creek, a federally protected creek for its water cleanliness and clarity. It is known for its precious gems and minerals. Perfect place for panning . Each campsite comes with its own waterfall fed swimming hole. There is power, water and septic on the property, but not yet to the campsites. There is a small outdoor hot shower and toilet, at the moment, but we are working on a full bathhouse and shower. Also we will soon be running the power and water to each campsite. Great WiFi throughout the campground. If you have a self contained camper or rv , we can fill your tanks with fresh water, and also have a pump out station , so you can still use your bathroom and toilet. The campground is only 3.5 miles from the blue ridge parkway. Within an hour of Asheville, black mountain, swananoa, old fort, Marion, morganton, lenoir, Burnsville, spruce pine, little Switzerland, linville, linville gorge, linville falls, black mountain Crabtree falls, roaring fork falls, cawtaba falls, Tom’s creek falls, and many more. To many hikes to list. Only 9 miles to the nearest city , Marion. Super quiet, beautiful open night sky for stargazing. We are a work in progress, so please excuse some of our construction views. It is a small campground with all 6-8 sites directly creekside with picnic tables and fire rings. So if you are looking for peaceful, beautiful place to camp by crystal clear , cool water to frolic in, this is your place. Your dogs and kids will love it. We have horseshoe pits and corn hole available for some low key activities. There is a bonfire area where you relax and enjoy a fire. Dupont Forest and Pisgah National Forest also offers great hiking, biking and kayaking or swimming in the many serene lakes. The Carl Sandburg National Historic Site is just five minutes away. The quaint mountain town, Brevard and the eclectic City of Ashville are just 30 a minute drive. My 54' long by 20' wide driveway can accommodate most RVs and a second vehicle. You will have exclusive access to the entire driveway and use of the entire front of my house. You will have access to city water and most vehicles can plug into the 15 Amperage plug located in the garage. Please ensure you have a converter plug as the electric supply is a standard household receptacle. The driveway has morning to late afternoon 100% sun exposure to charge your solar panels. Pets are also welcome, please bring their vaccination records to show current rabies vaccination. I am a mature, non smoking, no drugs, retired outdoor female enthusiast and have many years of van life experience. I can recommend many hiking and biking trails or any outdoor adventure. I can accommodate short or long term stays. I am flexible with the time period of starting/ending the rental space. The driveway is on a mostly flat spot and is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. No smoking/vaping allowed.
