Steven is a great host. He was there to greet us. He gave options as to where we could setup. I was provide with info on the area and offered additional suggestions on things to do. He is conveniently located to beaches, some cute small towns and things to do including Niagara Falls . We had a great time at his place. I highly recommend staying here.

This was well maintained, you could easily buy fire wood, the outhouse was close and well very clean, and the sites were well spaced from each other. Gorgeous spot. Highly recommend.

We loved camping at Zoar Valley Forest Retreat. Nathan was a great host; he answered all my questions immediately with more detail to add. The camping site itself was extremely isolated, easy to get to and beautiful to unwind and relax. We had enough space for our car, tent, canopy, and hammock with lots of space left over. The site was close enough to everything we needed (towns, shopping, nature sightseeing— so many farms! etc.) but still distant enough that we felt we were completely alone (we were). We also drove an hour and some change up to Niagara Falls, which was absolutely amazing (I cried 3x), and spent the last day at Cattaragus Creek, which was straight out of a National Geographic magazine. The hike there and the swimming itself was phenomenal. I highly recommend this camping site and we would love to come back. Thanks, Nathan!

Weekend Trip to Zoar Valley Forest Retreat

This is the second year in a row that my buddies and I took our kids here for some weekend camping and we had even more fun this time. It’s quiet, clean, spacious, porta potty close by, counted about 5 cars going down the road all weekend and it was extremely hot and muggy this weekend but since the site is in the woods we were covered with shade and a nice cool breeze. Bugs weren’t terrible either. Cattaraugus Creek is 6 miles away so you can go tubing, fishing or go for a nice walk since the water only gets about two feet deep in most spots with plenty of shores and mini islands. If you’re looking for a nice quiet spot to pitch a tent, not be around a bunch of people and just relax, this is the place for you! It’s also pet friendly.

We really loved this campsite. It was very private and quiet. We had great campfires thanks to the availability of lots of dry wood. Everything was very clean and Nathan was responsive to all of our questions. We especially loved our hike into Zoar Valley. We walked on the Valentine Flats Trail, which ended at the confluence of two rivers.

I loved this site! Private and comfortably hosted myself and my friends for Memorial Day weekend. Close to a beautiful trail and easy access to the Gorge nearby, I highly recommend checking this place out! A family of owls lives nearby, don’t be alarmed by the odd sounds at night- Barred Owls can sound somewhat like coyotes but it was very neat hearing them in the dark.

We loved camping at Brian and destiny's small cabin, it was delightful, we were able to stay warm the bed was comfortable, and the host and hostess for the mostest. They were really great they went above and beyond and helped us have a really great time. We can't say enough, can't wait to return.

1 night at Lake Of The Woods Cabin Camp

I had a really lovely stay at The Lake of the Woods. I booked last minute and check in was smooth and easy and the host was very communicative and kind. The cabin is peaceful and secluded enough where I felt I had my privacy. There is noise from the road so if you are looking for total silence, this will likely not work for you. That being said, it did not bother me at all and I am a fairly light sleeper. I felt the noise from the birds and the train to balance everything out and I enjoyed the soundtrack. The cabin has all the necessities (cookware, handheld lanterns, Jackery, porta potty, etc.) and then some. I didn’t get to try the record player but thought that was a really sweet touch. The host left a propane heater since it was fairly cold the night I stayed but with an extra wool blanket I brought, I slept perfectly without it. The bed is also quite comfortable. The host also left a care package. The cabin is a short drive to many Lake Erie beaches and lookouts that I explored on my way back home. The cabin would be a really nice place to settle in after a day at the beach. I would definitely recommend The Lake of the Woods to anyone looking for a spacious and peaceful place to relax with just the perfect amount of creature comforts and nature for your stay. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This site was great and would definitely come back! There were only 3 of us but also a great spot for larger groups. We got a lot of use out of the fire pit and pizza oven! Greatly appreciated that bundled of firewood was available for purchase. It had rained recently and site was easy to get in/out of. Lots of great trails a short drive away. Thanks for putting together such a great camp site!

My weekend stay at Lake of the Woods Cabin was extremely comfortable and charming thanks to Brian and Destiny’s hospitality. The record player sold me on it in the pictures and the music vibe was just what I needed. I love the sound of a train whistle - there were many trains that went by. The spring peepers lulled me to sleep at night. I sat on the cabin porch, read a book, and listened to the rain and the birds (it rained all weekend). The hosts left a small care package and extra towels for my dogs’ muddy feet and the handwritten note was such a nice gesture. The hosts were extremely accessible and responsive if I needed anything. Nice hiking trails and access to Lake Erie are all close by. It was such an enjoyable weekend that exceeded my expectations!

For those that want to feel isolated and immersed in nature and the forest. Includes seven acres to primitive camp on, or bring an RV/camper in (10ft clearance at gate). Each site has a picnic table, and brick fire pit. Pergola party shelter and brick oven located at Site 2. 🔒Locked gate at each site entrance from road for privacy and security. Site 1 is closer to the road, Site 2 is deeper in the woods, with adequate privacy and space between the two sites. ♻️ Take out what you take in, leave no trace. 🌙 Porta potty toilet on site maintained regularly, shared between sites May-October 🌳The campsite borders state forest to hike freely, and is about 1000ft until the top edge of the valley with beautiful vantage points of the valley. Drive down the road a few miles to the Forty Road trail head that leads to the creek down in Zoar Valley. Dogs welcome, and can be off-leash!

Welcome to our charming cabin, built in the summer of 2022 from a simple 12X26 Amish frame. *Important note: Lake Rd is busy and there will be road noise that dies down after 11pm. There is a historic and active railroad line behind the cabin and you will hear the train pass through the day and night. Some people have found it cool or relaxing but others have not. Nestled on its own 4-acre parcel within our family's 12-acre plot, this cozy retreat offers a private driveway and setting for your getaway. New additions this year include a fire ring and porta-potty, adding to the complete experience of your stay. Just a mile down the road, you'll find access to Lake Erie, boasting a small beach and kayak slip. On clear nights, don't miss the opportunity to gaze at the stunning stars above. Your host, Brian, has infused the cabin with photography and treasures from his global journeys, adding a unique touch to your stay. The hosts philosophy is to not bother you at all during your stay unless you have a specific need or concern, so your stay is all yours. The price is kept low to reflect this a campsite rental, not a hosted Airbnb. With that said every effort is made to make things comfy. Features include: - Private driveway - 12-foot porch with a porch bar - Four windows for a refreshing cross breeze (East-West orientation) - Finished floors, walls, and ceiling, with insulated walls for comfort - - 7-slot vinyl record bar for music enthusiasts - Wood stove (available November - February) - Lockable doors for security - Fire ring and camping chairs for outdoor enjoyment - Porta-potty with pump sink - Garbage bin and dish sink -Common Kitchen items like plates, bowls, cups, cutlery etc… -Garbage Bags (If garbage is used please take with you upon departure) True campsite experience and not an Airbnb rental, meaning there is no electricity, water, or sewer on the property. However, we provide battery packs and solar options for your convenience. The dish sink operates with a foot pump connected to a 5-gallon water jug. While the passing train adds to the rustic charm of the setting, it may NOT be suitable for light sleepers. Road traffic noise tends to calm down in quiet hours. Bed sleeps 2 but up to 3 welcome.
