The last day for shower use is Oct 15th. You’re more than welcome to bring your own portable shower hook up and use the shower house for privacy. We apologize for any inconvenience. You will need to have a cigarette lighter access to use the shower to power the pump. We recommend bringing flashlights as our property is solar powered and there is no electric on the property. On low sunny days, solar lights may not last as long into the evening. On rainy days the property can be very muddy and access to the top of the hill to the sites would be best accessed with a 4WD vehicle as well as winter time with snow on the ground. If you'd like to charge your phone we advise you to bring back up battery packs as there is now electric hook ups on site. The most private sites are Cloud 9, Bunny Pit and Lilou's Landing. The cottage is located down by the main house and not at the top of the hill. Pets are welcome, please clean up after your dog. * No firearms or explosive devices of any kind are allowed on the property.

Thank you for looking at what I have to offer. We love to have fun here. Which is why we call our little campground Tomtuga. It is sort of a reference of the Caribbean pirate island of Tortuga, except my name is Tom. I'm here mostly for the canal and living the pirate life but there have been sightings of Bigfoot and his cousin Yeti. They show up once in awhile to keep things interesting. Here at Tomtuga we are 2 acres with the Erie Canal across the front on a quiet street and the Genesee Valley Transportation, a local shortline railroad across the backyard. Boat season is May - Oct. Train runs mostly just two days a week all year. Step out and give the boats and trains a friendly wave. We are a hard packed base that can handle the very large RVs. Campsite #1 is where the 50amp / 30amp / 110 electric outlets are. Campsite #2 is the only area that has a "good" grassy spot. With only two campsites, along with my RV here, it is a rather peaceful camp. There are no bathrooms here, so I'm sorry but no tent camping available. We offer ''Buddy Camping'', in which if you are traveling with friends in a 2nd RV / camper. I allow you to both camp on the same campsite #1. You still need to book campsite #4. If you have more camping friends, I can add more campsites for each camper using our "Overflow sites" for booking. This is just a clerical thing for charges. Actually campsite #1 can hold three campers. Also if you don't need power, like you have solar or batteries etc. I might allow you to park anywhere on our two acres. You book campsite #3. You can check the property out before setting up. I allow 2nd vehicles or also ''toads'' on the campsites too at no charge. I'm Ok if you show up early from an overnight drive to the site and park in the main driveway. If there are not any previous campers onsite, I might let you into the site. Just let me know beforehand. *No bathrooms on the property! You must have self contained units! When I get the bathroom built, this will change. **Again, NO Bathrooms here! If you try to book posing as a ''campervan'' but just a van or staying in a cardboard box on a trailer, don't book here. Please go stealth camp at Walmart, they have bathrooms and are free to overnight. I wouldn't pee in your yard. No water hookups. No dumpstation either. We have free WiFi. Firewood available for $5 a bundle or bring your own. The local gas station has small bundles down the street for $8 each. * Please ask me before you let any of your dogs off leash. If there are other campers here, we all need to be in agreement on this. For their children and pets safety too. I do allow multiple dogs here. Again, please clean up after them. Do NOT just toss it into my woods or the canal. Nice small canal town here with local eateries, including two pizza places; two bars and a breakfast lunch spot / laundromat / hardware store / Dollar General / gas station. We have a veterinary in town too. All within a short walking distance. NYS Bike path on the opposite side of the canal, goes from Buffalo to Albany. Some 350 miles. Also a free NYS Canal boat ramp 1,800ft to the east, on our side of the canal. So bring your bikes / kayaks / boats / fishing poles. Rentals available in Lockport. Worms available at the hardware store in town. We are also open during the winter season, Uh yep. Please message me before hand because it depends on the snow depth if I'm letting campers in. *Special Bonus Offer - I am an online ordained minister and offer wedding nuptials here at Camp Tomtuga. Our twist is having your vows done by Rev Bigfoot or Padre Yeti in full regalia. Comes with an actual wedding certificate (you still need a license to make it legal). Cake is an extra fee. I provide a list of local NY info / places to visit in Canada and my experience on crossing the border. My camp to downtown Buffalo is 38 miles. To downtown Rochester is 51 miles. 1 night at Overgrown Ridge Camp By Letchworth

Beautiful property and so convenient to not have to put up my own tent. The tent is wonderful equipped with a wood burning stove. I camped on a reeeealllly cold & windy night so it was nice to have my Mr. Buddy heater to supplement in the middle of the night when I didn’t feel like tending to the fire. I didn’t have time to explore the other paths and I’m so bummed because it looked like an amazing place to frolick! If you are a star gazer, this is your place! The hosts were so amazing and very accommodating. I appreciated the fire!

Weekend Trip to Overgrown Ridge Camp By Letchworth

The site is tucked back in hidden from everything but a field. The tent is great and the wood stove worked wonderfully once we remembered how vents work. The bed was quite comfortable but pick your side wisely if you are over 6 ft. The outhouse seems brand new and the short trails around the property are a nice morning walk. We were comfortably warm in the 30s, except for when I let the fire go out. Will definitely be stopping by again when it warms back up.

Weekend Trip to Tomtuga on the Erie Canal

Our stay at Thomas' was perfect. Due to all campsites being closed for the season, had Thomas' place not been accepting reservations we would have been forced to drive 14hrs+ all the way home to Montreal. It was a lifesaver for sure. We got to his place around 6:30pm. He drove us right into our spot and help us setup. Great guy, great place. Only had electric, but that's all we needed for one night's stay. Thank you Thomas!

Great place to camp, it was out in the wilderness but at the same time close to everything. Nice large site with a water view. The only thing I wish was the electric was a little bit more heavy duty; but we had no problems. Overall great trip and I’d definitely come back and recommend to anyone looking for something different than a resort.

Thomas was a very helpful host, met me upon arrival and helped me set up my trailer on the site. Not great at backing up my trailer yet but he gave me some helpful instruction! Gave me lots of information on what to see in the area as well. I'll definitely come back for a visit in the future!

The views all around are spectacular, it is close to many great state park hikes, and so very peaceful… i don’t think I’ve ever been in a quieter location when camping. We shared some good stories with Randy and Bob around a campfire; they are both so very friendly and just joyful to be around. So grateful for their hospitality and without a doubt worried stay here again!!

Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the setup of the site to the little touches that make your stay comfortable and relaxing. It’s also conveniently located — only about 10 minutes from town, with easy access to gas stations, Walmart, and McDonald’s if you need to grab anything. You get the best of both worlds here: the calm and privacy of nature with the convenience of nearby amenities. We had a wonderful stay and left feeling refreshed. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and enjoy a bit of nature without being too far from town!

Always a little hesitant going to a new place but our first time at this site did not disappoint! The pavilion was a perfect touch especially with the unexpected rainy morning weather. 4 nights at Klip Klop Buggy Watch

Awesome in all ways. Randy is a great hostess and we enjoyed engaging with her. She even took us on a ride in her Model T! The campsite is very level and, of course full hookups! You will need about 40’ of sewer hose (Randy has a 10’ loaner), and maybe 30’ fresh water hose and power cord. Dansville is just 4 miles away for anything you might need. We went to Lechworth State Park and Watkins Glenn, but my favorite was Stony Brook State Park just on the other side of Dansille. And we did see quite a lot of Amish in their buggies. Just a great stay overall and a great base for exploring the finger lakes.
