It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. We are the closest HipCamp site to Slide Mountain, the Catskills tallest peak at 4180 feet. Our drive up camp has a 10X12 covered tent platform, several individual tent sites with private fire rings, as well as a bunkhouse and a leanto for day use. The camp table and cook pit are covered from the elements. For toilet use, we have a CleanWaste loo which is a 5 gal bucket in a toilet seat box. You lift the lid, place a CleanWaste bag in the bucket which has a kitty litter like powder called Poo Powder in it. You do your business, the powder absorbs all the odor and gels all the matter. When done, you lift the seat, take out the bag, tie it up and throw it in the trash. There are camp rules about how to handle trash, recycling, and compost so as to minimize the possibility of black bear visits. Follow those rules so as to avoid a penalty fees of $50.00 if trash, recycling, and compost are not followed. A detailed message about trash, recycling, and compost practice will be sent to campers days before the booked trip. We arrived after dark in the rain and Adele met us and guided us up to the camp site. Adele was very welcoming and helpful. The camp sites are extremely well kept. It was peaceful and beautiful and I would certainly come back again.

Great location, not the most isolated spot due to it being located right off the road, but the amenities and the convenience of them are fantastic. Walking up to the river roaring is a lovely feeling, unfortunately I did not have the time to do some fishing, but I know the trout were calling my name! Have to stop by again!

It was private and well-maintained, complete with firewood, a clean outhouse with composting toilet, a really nice fire pit, and a container of non potable water. A few steps away from the hiking trail that led us to an amazing view at the lookout point, and there is a fresh spring at the base of the trail. Adele is a wonderful host, and her farm is truly beautiful. The 3 camp sites are spaced far apart in the woods behind the farm, and the Beechwood site in particular comfortably accommodates one large tent (there were two of us staying), and also has a picnic table with benches, and a wooden rocking chair by the fire. We had an awesome time, and we’ll will definitely be back!

Spring 2023: Maplewood received extensive flood/water damage over the winter requiring extensive drainage work and regrading. We also added a layer of fresh sawdust to the tent area on all our tent sites for a more comfortable nights sleep.

I highly recommend visiting Lisa and Ed, genuinely good people who take great care to ensure that you'll be comfortable and have what you need to optimize your stay. They are extremely knowledgeable about pretty much anything to do with farm living, and the horses receive amazing care.Lisa and Ed can't hide how much they love them. As far as which site to pick I walked the entire grounds and whichever site you choose is a winner, comes down to personal preference. There's no place else that can match this experience. Lisa and Ed are very responsive and have suggestions on local things to do .The reviews, all positive are a bit like pictures, they can't tell the whole story. Get here yourself and enjoy this peaceful, serene beautiful place and have this unique experience, you'll be glad you did. Don't forget all of the other things you can do to add to your experience that Lisa lists. This would be an unforgettable experience for a family with young kids. Bring a camera! Aside from the residents, the fields are visited by deer, and there are foxes, birds. There's a cabin, 2 trundle beds,folding room divider, windows all around, small sitting area with an awning in back looking into the forest .Lisa and Ed are kind, considerate and caring hosts. * Ask about buying some amazing Maple Syrup made using Ed's grandfather's recipe. Weekend Trip to Palsgraf estates

Perfect for a weekend escape from the city. The cabin was spacious and spotless, and the restroom was well-maintained. No service, water, or electricity, but firewood was ready for us, and the nights under the stars were amazing. The host was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in/check-out were very flexible and smooth. It felt a little pricey for a basic setup, but we still really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to disconnect and recharge in nature.

One of the best maintained and run camping sites I’ve ever been to via HipCamp. Adele and her daughter are responsive, accommodating and hard working. Beechwood site is remote, well maintained and a level area for your tent. The site is difficult to find in the dark so make sure to get assistance on your first visit.

Adele's property is nothing short of spectacular. The view from the overlook is gorgeous, and the recent addition of the Phoenicia town overlook is super cool! Her campsites are very well upkept. Her family was extremely inviting and friendly upon arrival. I cannot recommend staying at Adele's hipcamp enough! I will definitely be back!

Great place to camp with great views of the lake. Farm animals on the property are friendly and very cute. We got to bottle feed a baby calf and hand feed other farm animals, lots of fun. At night we enjoyed cooking over campfires, stargazing with a glass of wine. Paul and Marilyn are great hosts, look forward to visiting next summer.

This place is amazing, it’s the only HipCamp site I have ever gone back to more than once. Three trips so far and plan to go back. The animals are very docile, the hosts are as friendly as can be but give you your space. Plenty of room to spread out. Generous amount of wood on site for the $$$.

Such an incredible experience. I expected to be on a small piece of land with a few animals, and we discovered a beautiful property with animals of all ages and varieties. The hosts were warm and invited guests to interact with the animals/feedings/grounds. Nothing better than to wake up to baby goats.
