The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed. We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day. This is a non-smoking, no candle facility.

As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house. I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils. +++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce. The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars. With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great. Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away. *No cell service in the greater area. WiFi reaches around the house/deck and allows for WiFi Calling: that’s a setting in your phone that enables phone calls & texts beside usual internet access.

There is abundant wood that you can use for free, but put all coals out and you can use the creek water, when it is there. REMEMBER this is the desert!!I would like to book a 3 month visit from January 1st-April 1st with free water. You need to provide your own electricity, but solar would be an excellent option as sites are on south facing, so panels would work well. I would like to trade a discount for help on the farm during this time. $5.00 a day disount, plus the water. You would be the only one booked during this time, so very quiet and private for long term winter stay!!

Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish. Learn more about this land: Located in the high desert 20 minutes from Albuquerque and 40 minutes from Santa Fe. Views of Sandia mountains, and near historic archeological sites. Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe. If you want to have easy access to the city, but still enjoy nature, this is the perfect spot for you. Take some time to rest and relax on our two acre property or stop by for a safe place to sleep on your way to your next adventure. Sleep under the stars, relax in the shade of the pinon trees, play in the grassy, wildflower fields, or cozy up to one of the fire pits on the property. Camp sites have access to water and the covered RV space has electricity and water hookups. Love riding as much as we do? Clean off that New Mexico clay at our bike washing station! We are dog friendly and already love your furry companions, but please keep them leashed. We can provide long cables so your pup can still play outside with you! The two acre property also includes our home, covered RV site, pear tree (help yourself to fresh fruit!), many shady areas to relax, large field to play, fire pits, and access to trails within walking distance! After a few years of living on the road, we know how hard it can be to find a clean, safe place to stay and how magical it feels when you find just the right spot. Now that we are stationary, we want to share our home with you and give others a chance to enjoy nature and all of the beautiful adventures surrounding us! We live full-time in the house and do have neighbors on our street (dirt road), please let us know if we can do anything to make your stay more comfortable!

Riverside camping with beautiful views.. Tent camp directly on the riverbank below for a private paradise. Car camping up top can get noisy depending on Hwy traffic. This spot is magical for swimming, fishing and watching wildlife. Catch and release fishing only please. 110v and 50amp 240v plugin are available. There is a drinking water spigot as well as a trash receptacle on site. There are no bathroom facilities here yet. The parking area will accommodate camper vans and small trailers. Large RV’s aren’t able to fit in our small parking area. If you love the river and enjoy seeing wildlife this spots for you.

Wonderful spot. Was extremely quiet, peaceful and beautiful. With this spot, you will get the view of the sunset through the trees pretty much every single day. I am a writer and business owner, and this provided a really great inspirational spot for me! Highly recommend! When I went, the owner had just poured in new loose gravel, so leveling for my 28ft trailer was a bit tough, but if you bring ample equipment, very doable!

Beautiful location and spacious campsite!! Host has 2 sweet and friendly dogs that love to linger around camp, but take note that the dogs wandered off with our doormat and we weren't able to find it- host said this is something that happens here but we wished that was communicated in advance so we didn't set that out as usual (was a sentimental gift from my grandmother). Otherwise loved being so close to Santa Fe and would stay again!!

Anastasia is a welcoming host who shares her farm in its beautiful location, conveniently close to Taos, NM, where there is so much to explore. We were invited to tour and learn about all the various efforts Anastasia and her community are experimenting with sustainable practices. The Mountain view from our site was gorgeous at sunset and sunrise. Also, guests are given access to a beautiful and well-maintained bath house. We would definitely visit again and appreciate the stay.

Ben and his campsites were great!! Super hospitable, easy communication and he did everything to make sure we had a great time! Sites are level and close to hookups for easy connection. He even made a pull-through pathway for one of the sites so we could easily drop the camper and go drive around the woods! Beautiful area, lots of great backroads, and a super safe neighborhood. We even had deer browsing outside our camper right at Ben’s sites!!! Great experience, highly recommend, both for the RV hookup sites (which I used) as well as his tent sites, which looked great. Thanks Ben!!
