The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country. We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. Come stay a while at Casas de Indigo Graneria! We have two neighboring sheltered spaces 20' wide by 24' deep where you can shelter your rig from direct sun and weather. We are located close to all the offerings of the area: to the south is the infamous Rio Grande river where you can have either a mellow float or brave a ride down class III/IV rapids. To the north is Taos Ski Valley, home of world class terrain. In between are epic hikes, numerous galleries and unique shops, delicious food, and culture--Taos truly is a little slice of heaven. Our half-acre space overlooking the Rio Grande del Ranchos offers a more private, scenic and peaceful environment than the typical recreational vehicle parks. Anastasia is a welcoming host who shares her farm in its beautiful location, conveniently close to Taos, NM, where there is so much to explore. We were invited to tour and learn about all the various efforts Anastasia and her community are experimenting with sustainable practices. The Mountain view from our site was gorgeous at sunset and sunrise. Also, guests are given access to a beautiful and well-maintained bath house. We would definitely visit again and appreciate the stay.

I don't know what I can say that I haven't already said in my other three reviews. This is my fourth time to the cliffs Camp 8 very private very secluded very quiet. Landon is great very hospitable. This is definitely a place of peace. I will always be back. All the campsites are very far from each other which is something that I like. It's just a nice piece of property. They have done well

Great little house with all of the basic amenities someone looking for a place not too rustic would love. Harvey was extremely friendly, and gave us any and all of the privacy we could want. The dirt roads are pretty bumpy, so if you come in a standard height car take it slow.

Beautiful and very accommodating campground! The peaceful setting, breathtaking night sky views, and well-maintained campsites made for a perfect weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We loved the complimentary amenities: including water, charcoal grill, grilling utensils, and an over-the-fire grill. Each site even had its own individual well-maintained portable restroom instead of shared facilities. The amazing firepit added the perfect camping ambiance. The location, views, and thoughtful details made this stay truly memorable.

This is our idea of a perfect campsite! Beautiful setting and very quiet. It is quite secluded and yet town is only a short distance away if needed. Landon and Kendra were available to answer any questions that we had. The property has so much to see and do and great places to hike. We enjoyed ourselves so much and will definitely be back!

Rancho Algo Mas is 25 minutes or so from Ojo Caliente, one of our favorite places on the planet. You drive in past the main house, past all the animals of a working farm. You camp in a secluded grove of trees with fire pit, table, and freestanding compostable toilet. It was one of the best hipcamp experiences we've had! Very thoughtful touches. Our only regret is that we didn't get a tour of the whole property!
