We are surrounded by pine trees, and it is a quiet place to escape the noise of the world. It is a place to recharge and enjoy the outdoors. Our campsite is close to West Yellowstone and only 30 mi. from Yellowstone National Park. Island Park has a lot to offer including: boating, waterskiing, fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, trail riding and much more. All of these activities are within a few minutes away. We are in close proximity to highway 20 and easy access to services and dining. We have a very large parking area where you can park trailers and vehicles. We have about 3 acres and have 5 RV spots. We have a central sheltered picnic area and a big fire pit on each RV spot. Each pad is rented at $40 a night with provided 50 and 20 amp service with an adapter provided for 30 amp service. No water or sewer is provided. There is a porta potty on location from mid May until end of October. Must pack out all of your trash or be a accessed a cleaning fee per lot. Although wanting to keep this campground in a primitive state, we will be adding a few updates in coming years. Pets allowed on a leash only.

There is one extra cabin with one queen bed available for an additional fee. It is 4 feet from the homestead. It is only available for use by guests of the homestead cabin, so it is private.
There is a gorgeous new shower house built in 2023. It provides a large walk in shower, vanity and sink, outlet and standard flush toilet.
Candles, oil lanterns, propane for the BBQ grill, campfire ring, camp chairs, wood stove, towels, hot springs & river towels, bedding, pots, pans, utensils, basic camp supplies are all included! There is a separate shack with an electrical outlet, toaster oven, electric coffee pot, percolator, a single electric burner for the cooking supplies. There are 3 other rentals on this property. Each cabin has 1 - 1.5 acres of private use and are generously spaced out.The Homestead cabin is bordered by Little Trail Creek and the house pasture. There are 5 horses on site. Absorkee Wilderness is in the back yard with thousands of miles of hiking trails. This is a Glamping experience. There my be wildlife - including bears, elk, deer, bugs or field mice at anytime. We have tried to preserve the Homestead cabin as much as possible to its original state. There are elk, deer, birds and other native wildlife on the property daily.

The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Bear Creek winds through the property, with several great places to sit by the water and enjoy the surroundings. On the downstream side of the camping area, we have a large, 16’ x 24’ wall tent outfitted with two cots, a sectional couch, table and wood stove (no bedding provided, please bring your own sleeping bags). You can either sleep in the wall tent, or set up your own tents and use the wall tent as a lounge area. The wall tent sits right on the bank of Bear Creek, with a lovely view of the creek right out the front door, and the sounds of water to lull you to sleep. Due to bear safety, we do not allow cooking in the wall tent – please use the creek side cookshack.
On the upstream side of the camping area, we have one dispersed RV site, with no hookups. RV campers need to be self contained, with their own toilet.
There is a communal cookshack pavilion right on the creek, with a BBQ grill, counter & picnic table where you can cook, enjoy your meals & relax by the creek. We take bear safety very seriously, and do not allow any food or drink (besides water) in the wall tent – please do your cooking and eating at the cookshack. Food & other bear attractants must be secured in your vehicle at night, and cookshack area must be cleaned up immediately after use.
Not all of Jardine Retreat is part of this new camping area. We ask that you please stay in the designated camping space and do not access construction zones, out buildings & other marked off areas of private property. There are fences and signs designating where you cannot enter. We are currently remodeling an 1880’s historic cabin and turning it into a bath house for you to use next time you camp here – but currently there are no usable facilities & no access to any of the cabins on the property.

You’ll want to allow yourself plenty of time to take advantage of all that Targhee National Forest has to offer. On several million acres, waterfalls cascade down volcanic cliffs, and crystal clear pools provide some of the best cutthroat trout fishing in the world. Rafters and tubers frolic in the shadows of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, and the smell of campfires makes you feel like an Oregon Trailer. Ancient rock formations sprout wildflowers, providing a scenic spot to boulder or rock climb, and Big Spring & Palisades Reservoir boasts over 70 miles of shoreline to bask in the sun after a long day of hiking. Two of the trails here access the high-altitute Alaska Basin, as well as trails in Grand Teton National Park. You’ll also be right next to the city of Idaho Falls, perfect for stocking up on the essentials before a full day of exploring grizzly bear habitats and karst limestone formations, all under the watchful eye of the snow-peaked Tetons!

The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Adventuring in the largest national forest in Montana should definitely be added to your summer (or winter!) to do list. Activities abound in The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, including wilderness trekking, scenic drives to killer views, camping among smallish forest sites, downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter, lake fishing, picnicking, and exploring historic wild-west ghost towns in the summer. You can also check out parts of the Continental Divide trail which crosses through this park, and cheer on thru-hikers in the final stretch of their epic journey. Jardine Retreat camping area sits on a unique and beautiful piece of property in the heart of Jardine, Montana. Bear Creek winds through the property, with several great places to sit by the water and enjoy the surroundings. Plans are in the works for a small retreat center on the property, and in the meantime, we welcome people to camp at this amazing location and enjoy the relaxing space. Your host & owner of Jardine Retreat, Zondra is a massage therapist with a massage studio right next to the camping location. Jardine Retreat guests get priority booking for massage appointments.
On the downstream side of the camping area, we have a large, 16’ x 24’ wall tent outfitted with two cots, a sectional couch, table and wood stove (no bedding provided, please bring your own sleeping bags). You can either sleep in the wall tent, or set up your own tents and use the wall tent as a lounge area. The wall tent sits right on the bank of Bear Creek, with a lovely view of the creek right out the front door, and the sounds of water to lull you to sleep. Due to bear safety, we do not allow cooking in the wall tent – please use the creek side cookshack.
On the upstream side of the camping area, we have one dispersed RV site, with no hookups. RV campers need to be self contained, with their own toilet.
There is a communal cookshack pavilion right on the creek, with a BBQ grill, counter & picnic table where you can cook, enjoy your meals & relax by the creek. We take bear safety very seriously, and do not allow any food or drink (besides water) in the wall tent – please do your cooking and eating at the cookshack. Food & other bear attractants must be secured in your vehicle at night, and cookshack area must be cleaned up immediately after use.
Not all of Jardine Retreat is part of this new camping area. We ask that you please stay in the designated camping space and do not access construction zones, out buildings & other marked off areas of private property. There are fences and signs designating where you cannot enter. We are currently remodeling an 1880’s historic cabin and turning it into a bath house for you to use next time you camp here – but currently there are no usable facilities & no access to any of the cabins on the property.

Beautiful location. Stayed here in the winter with a Lance truck camper to access skiing. Jeff was gracious and accommodating. Electric hook ups worked great. About 2 miles to Big Sky Resort. You absolutely need 4wd with good tires to access home. Very steep snow covered roads but I had no problem with stock pickup 4wd. If you like to sleep level, you will need a leveling blocks.

Jeff's place is a perfect spot for someone wanting to be close to Big Sky. Less than a 5 minute drive to the mountain and you can walk to Beehive Basin trailhead if you are a backcountry enthusiast. Jeff is very accommodating and helpful. Only drawback is the approach to the property is very steep and icy during the winter.

I found Angel camp and it was so beautiful, and to our surprise it had electric hook ups so we even had heat thru night. Weekend Trip to Starlight Retreat Yellowstone
Absolutely loved our beautiful glampsite on the way to Yellowstone National Park! Didn’t know it came with great perks like the welcome center, friendly staff, towels for showering, a community fire pit, a map, etc! Sure it can be colder at night with the high altitude but I slept very comfortably with the fuzzy blankets provided. It was such an aesthetic way to camp and I will never go back to regular camping LOL. Very responsive and friendly host, and super helpful and chill staff! One guy even gave me his personal floss when I had an “floss emergency” lol. Absolutely loved it here! 1000000/10 would stay again and bring more friends :)
