It is a beautiful building with a lot of history and charm that shows it's age. Range Rider Accommodations Located in the town of Silver Gate, just outside the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park, sits the historic Range Rider Lodge. Construction began on the Range Rider in 1937 after the magnificent Beartooth Highway was completed. Whole logs were brought in from the surrounding forests and oil paintings depicting beautiful mountain scenes were commissioned to line the banisters of the second floor. Ernest Hemingway even used to frequent the bar and write. The original logs still stand and the Range Rider still possesses all of the magic that it has had since the day it opened. Over the years not much has changed, just enough so that people can continue to enjoy the Range Rider as so many have been able to in the past. Rooms in the Range Rider are available to be rented for nightly rentals. Rooms with one double bed start at $99.00/night and rooms with two double beds start at $184.00/night (these prices do not include tax). There are 5 communal restrooms; among them are 2 men’s showers and two women’s showers and two men’s restrooms and 2 women’s restrooms. The Range Rider is a rustic lodging option for people who don’t mind communal bathrooms, creaking floors, and thin walls. It is a beautiful building with a lot of history and charm but its age shows. The Range Rider Lodge is not for people looking for a luxury lodging option. It offers the bare minimum for your stay; the beds are comfortable and made with fresh linens and towels are provided for the bathrooms. The rooms are simple with just a bed and a table furnishing each room. The building warms up during the day but cools off at night depending on the outside temperature; to combat this we provide small space heaters in each bedroom.

We had a very lovely stay at Margaret's property, the area is gorgeous and we loved being close to the horses! Our Great Dane loved it too! We didn’t get a chance to meet the host but we did meet Suzanne who also lives on site and she is wonderful! She’s a guide in Yellowstone and works in town. We definitely hope to stay here again next time we pass through Cody and hopefully for more than one night!

We loved camping on Judy’s land. We had a great spot for our van at the end of her field next to the river and amongst the trees. The location is right next to the road, so there is a fair amount of road noise, but we still felt like we enjoyed a good amount of privacy. There is a porta potty and water available near by. It was a great location with close proximity to Tippet Rise (30 mins away). Judy was lovely and easy to communicate with. We felt lucky to have found such a beautiful spot and would definitely camp there again.

Sandy and Jerry were excellent hosts and their property is beautiful! The setting along the river is very peaceful. Water on one side and mountains all around. They were very accommodating and had plenty of local suggestions. We were greeted upon our arrival and offered a hand with anything we needed. Very flexible with where we could park in the yard. Even offered use of their bathroom if we needed to. This was our first time using hipcamp and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Sandy and Jerry for all of your wonderful hospitality!!

1 night at Silver Gate Lodging

The cabin was beautiful and everything was new and in wonderful condition. Very close to the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone and perfect for us because we love to drive Lamar Valley in the mornings and evenings. Check in instructions were a little vague, but they returned my call promptly to explain what to do if coming in late. Also, the Hipcamp listing said checkout before noon, but when we got there, our paperwork said we would be charged $75 and our possessions removed if we were there after 10:00am. We got up for sunrise in the park and came back for late breakfast and to pack; we were planning on a little later checkout than 10:00 am, but it worked out. We would definitely stay again.

1 night at Secluded Yellowstone River Camp

Fantastic host that’s very knowledgeable about what it takes for a camper to have a great time. The cabin is nice, right on the river and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Lots of room outside and very peaceful and quite except a train passing through every once in awhile which we didn’t mind. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and book and you won’t regret it. Thanks to the host for a great stay and for having us. If ever in the area again we will definitely stay again.

Great glamping site situated close enough to downtown Red Lodge for a bite to eat, yet just far enough away to enjoy the quietude and dark skies at night. Appreciated the easy communication with Cyndi and Brad as well. Would stay here again!

Judy was awesome and quick to communicate. I was able to set up a last minute reservation for my husband while he was on a motorcycle trip. He showed up in the dark, was able to set up his tent and find everything easily, and loved waking up to a beautiful river view.

We had a lovely couple of nights at this property. The cabin was clean & comfortable with quiet surroundings. The yard is beautiful & spacious, perfect for our dogs to roam about. The kitchen is well equipped, and we were very grateful for the opportunity to do laundry. Proximity to both the mountains & the canyon was a huge perk.

My daughter and I loved this unique stay during our travels in Montana. It was truly a highlight, and we loved meeting and talking to Kelli, who was super responsive, helpful and friendly.
