It is famous for being used by the production company in the movie “The Untouchables “. Just like the production company you can set up your trailer or tents along the property. We are located just over a couple hours between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Lewis and Clark’s footsteps are all around us here on the property. Get out and enjoy!

Our family built a cabin in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the 1970’s. We’ve been coming out for over 20 years to visit and now are making this our home. One thing about this area that really strikes me is the gorgeous Ear Mountain. It hovers with the rest of the Rocky Mountain Front making a beautiful back drop for the quaint town of Choteau. We are located 90 miles from St. Mary’s in Glacier park. If you are looking to go to Glacier we are an excellent spot to stay and rest on your journey. The town of Choteau has several restaurants, gas stations with propane, a drug store and Rex’s grocery. If you feel like walking downtown, you’ll see the historic buildings like the Courthouse built in 1906.

You may meet our family dairy cow, our milk & wool sheep, and a variety of poultry and waterfowl. We are very near the Sun River and less than an hour’s drive to the Missouri River or the Rocky Mountain front. We enjoy fly-fishing, climbing, and hiking and are happy to recommend some great spots.

Wade the Dearborn in the back yard of this 3-bedroom house (fourth bedroom/living room or guide cabin next door ($150/stay to open) on 10 acres of the former Gary Cooper Ranch. Don’t be surprised to see deer, geese and ducks in the window nudging their way near the deck, especially at the spring waterfall that cascades down the slope. if you are especially quiet and observant, the hundreds of acres of park and ranch across the river also have mountain goats, bears, antelope and even the mountain lion. Help yourself to the library, watch satellite television or DVD movies, or read from the house’s library. The public put-in is an 11 hour trip; private access to two shorter put-ins make this a recommended site for many Montana guides. From this base, see the spectacular Glacier Park or the continent’s largest dinosaur digs to the northwest, float the Lewis and Clark Trail by pontoon boat and lunch at the island where one of the nation's most famous fires occurred, or travel south to Yellowstone National Park or Jackson Hole, each an easy day’s visit. Bring your dogs to the kennel behind the house, hang on the deck with river and tremendous rock views, play pool or light the outside fire pit for a campfire. BBQ or enjoy the new, custom kitchen and fisherman’s décor. In the evening, take your pick of 3 spacious bedrooms where at the end of the day 6 extra long beds await or tie a few at the fly-tying table.

This is the second time I have stayed at Choteau Mountain cabins. The cabins are unchanging in their simplicity and comfort, which suits me fine. We made a campfire in the firepit, only to have to quickly put it out due to thunderstorm winds. The hosts are cheery and as helpful as we wanted them to be. At night the campground is very quiet and the rural community comes to life at sunrise, which suited us.

Elicia and her family were wonderful and very welcoming! My two young sons (2 & 4) and I were passing through while on an extended road trip just after my husband deployed. I felt very safe, and my boys loved interacting with the farm animals! I hope we have another opportunity to pass through, so we can stay again!

We had an amazing five star stay at Untouchable Hip Camp. This is a must stay location located in a small community surrounded by breath taking views in every direction. Bald Eagles fishing the Missouri River competing with the daily fly fishermen. Nightly visits of a doe and her babies roam freely in this little neighborhood. The Hip Camp Host can answer any question about the area and was very friendly and helpful. We didn’t make the time to float the Missouri River, but we definitely will be back next year for a longer stay.

We had a great stay at Choteau Mountain View! While the name suggests mountains, the real highlight was the peaceful setting right next to the golf course. It was quiet, well-maintained, and felt safe and welcoming. The location was super convenient, as we needed a place along our way. It was close to town but still offered that relaxed, open-sky camping feel. A perfect spot for a low-key stopover or a restful weekend. We’d definitely stay again!

A very cute set up. The grass was amazing on the sites so it was very easy to set up camp. Able to pull your car right up to the sites. Host make it easy to check in late with instructions and map. They have a wash sink for dishes and plenty of showers.

Our cabin is cute, clean and very homey. We lived our stay at Choteau, the outside mountain view is amazing. They all have the amenities that you may need during your stay. The host is very accommodating ❤️, sunset is very beautiful. Our daughter enjoyed and loved their playground ❤️ shower and bathroom is clean ❤️ overall, our stay is excellent! Highly recommend ❤️

Elicia made me feel right at home. The camp is in historic Fort Shaw. The fort is in walking distance as is the military cemetery. Beautiful countryside and the Sun River is close by. Right down the road is Big Sky Deli in Vaughn with all kinds of meats, cheeses, pastries, kombucha and provisions. I love the sounds of the farm animals and so did my pooch! :) I would definitely stay here again!
