Spring Lake Ranch boasts countless trails and lake activities. Formerly known as Sayersbrook Bison ranch, at one time it was one of the largest Bison ranches in the world. This property is filled with amazing things to see and explore. Nothing like it in Missouri. Lake is 60+ acres and is spring fed. Amazing fishing, swimming and kayaking. We are pet friendly. You will have amazing lake views and will be close to hiking trails, horseback riding, and wine tasting at Edge Cliff Wineries which is next door to us. The beautiful shower house is super clean, has restrooms and hot showers and it is within walking distance. Firewood and ice are available to purchase; kayaks and fishing poles are available for rent. Located at the confluence of the Meramec River and Labarque Creek, my place (Matt's Place) is a ridge above a bottomland bowl of sorts. The old iron truss bridge here is likely built in 1910 and it has a survey marker from 1932. The creek has a nice little swimming hole, and a beach that is sometimes sand, sometimes, gravel, and sometimes a mix of both with some silt or even mud after a storm. It's peaceful down there to explore in the creek, wade while looking outward to an opening into the Meramec River. It's also fun to stand just at the mouth of the creek in the Meramec River. It's an awesome view upstream or downstream of tree lined banks, rock bluffs, and every now and then, passing boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. The old iron truss bridge hovers above the meeting of two waters. The water is cool and clean. Some fifty species of fish have been recorded in this creek, the most in all of Jefferson County and St Louis County. The bottomland has two levels, the lower bottoms down by the creek and the upper bottoms about a hundred feet from the creek. The upper bottoms has a clearing like a meadow with mowed grass. My favorite things to do here include gazing up at a cottonwood tree that must be sixty feet tall. It's leaves in a breeze are like a thousand hands waving hello. The bottomland meadow offers just enough sky to see bats dance in the dusk air between the trees, then fireflies as it gets darker yet. Up top is where I live. Just five miles off HWY 44 and HWY 109, at Eureka, MO, (30 minutes west of downtown St Louis, 18 minutes from Six Flags) this place sits on a ridge with great views above the Meramec River.

The farm and staff are absolutely fantastic! We had an issue with charges, which they resolved with some investment of time on their part. They all I’ve and beyond in service. Helping us find our site in the dark, making sure we had enough supplies and even throwing a pair of jeans in the dryer for our teenager 😁 Truly kind people!

Matt is a wonderful host. We stayed in his cabin and had a great evening in front of the fire listening to the sounds of the river. I spent this past weekend at a very special place. I was looking for “unique places to stay,” within driving distance and found Old Man River Nature Retreat outside of Potosi, MO. 1 night at Lakeside Tipi Retreat

The waterfall and crystal creek were definitely the highlights of our overnight adventure. Our kids couldn't have had a better time splashing around. We took an early morning hike after staying in their on site teepee. The gas fire pit in the middle kept up warm through the night and the 2 fans circulating the air perfectly. We even went through a therapeutic sounding thunderstorm overnight...staying comfortable and dry. Hearing the birds and crickets and coyotes were also pleasent noises to relax in nauture with. Jim also provided dry firewood to make sure we could enjoy a campire. For added comfort and perfection there is a bathhouse/kitchenette with more than one would need for Camping...shower, toilet, running water, kitchen table air conditioner. Also fully stocked with fishing poles and lake toys, which we plan to utilize on another trip. Jim provided knowledge for his own trails on site and is only a short text away. Jim and Cindy are amazing for sharing their own slice of heaven with us.

1 night at Hummingbird Hollow Outdoors

We just came back from our second trip to Hummingbird Hollow Outdoors, and once again it felt absolutely magical. ✨ As a single mama of four, camping can sometimes feel overwhelming, but renting the yurt made it so much easier — and honestly, it turned into something even more special. The land itself is breathtaking, and the experience of being surrounded by animals roaming freely, sweet and friendly, made it unforgettable for my kids. They were in heaven, completely obsessed with every animal they met. Making magical core memories with my children is my number one goal as a mama, and this place does that and so much more. It wasn’t just a getaway — it was a memory-making trip that gave us those moments I know my children will carry in their hearts forever. The beauty of the land, the warmth of the animals, and the sense of peace all around truly make it a one-of-a-kind spot. This is more than a five-star rating, but five stars is the max. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ll definitely be coming back as often as humanly possible!

2 nights at Secluded Wooded Cabin - Lakeside

Clean, well stocked, and private. Exactly what we needed to get away from this realtor’s crazy work life. Location is spot on for spending the day in nearby cities and enjoying quiet evenings in. The perfect solution to those who would prefer an upscale feel in a perceived camping environment. The only thing we would change would be sturdier chairs around the camp fire. Although, we did have a good laugh.

Weekend Trip to Lakeside Tipi Retreat

⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Magical Birthday Celebration! We celebrated our daughters’ birthday at Lakeside Tipi Escape, and it was perfect from start to finish. Passing through the gargoyle-guarded gates felt like entering another world — peaceful, beautiful, and full of wonder. The tipi, tucked in the pines near the lake and waterfall, felt like a cozy fairytale hideaway. The kids fished, explored trails, played by the water, and loved visiting with the friendly dogs. Cindy and Jim are amazing hosts — warm, thoughtful, and even surprised our girls with birthday cupcakes! Their care and love for this sanctuary shines in every detail. Our daughters called it the best birthday ever, and we couldn’t agree more. We left with full hearts, happy kids, and memories we’ll treasure forever.

Hummingbird Hollow was exactly what we needed this past weekend. The yurt, Lady Asha, was beyond expectations and had everything we needed. The animals (especially the horses and donkeys), the creek, the foliage, was all the nature healing we could ask for. We can't wait to go back!

Host is nice, thoughtful, excellent communication, beautiful property with happy animals. Brought us Uno while we enjoyed the sound of rain on the yurt- for which she had everything we could need. Enjoyed the creek and walking the peaceful trails. Thanks for a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Delightful 1 bedroom peaceful tiny house

We loved every second of being at this tiny home! Melissa and Rick’s farm is so beautiful, right next to the house are horses with a very friendly horse Bubba who will come and greet you. On this property there are an assortment of animals: cows, chickens, cats, the CUTEST dogs, and friendly goats. Rick is so friendly and took my boyfriend and I on a tour and it was our favorite part of this trip, we didn’t want to leave!! Inside the Home there is a microwave, tv with dvd player, plates and cutlery, an electric skillet, clawfoot tub and a shower. There is no kitchen sink so we just used bathroom sink to do dishes, wasn’t too much of an issue. Outside is a bench perfectly located so you can enjoy the sunset, which you’re going to because they are truly magical. You can make a campfire and there is also a grill available. Was a great time and we are already talking about coming back, Melissa and Rick are amazing!!

Weekend Trip to Delightful 1 bedroom peaceful tiny house

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this place. It met every expectation and added more. The land is beautiful, with slightly rolling hills, but in those hills are about 30 different horses with a whole cascade of personalities, and about 20 cows and calves(watching the calves play is so cute, I was giggling like a maniac all weekend). Rick (Melissa’s husband) is such a great host, he has a story for every animal on his property, and you can tell that he loves being out there. Besides the cattle’s and horses, there’s a wide array of birds such as guinea fowl and peacocks, goats and chickens, some beautiful country pigeons, and even a domesticated raccoon named Captain(who has more personality than the rest of the animals combined). The retired hunting dogs that live on the property are SO excited to see a new face and to get pet, along with a few of the smallest, cutest dogs I’ve ever seen in my life. The house itself is also a treat! They provided a mini fridge, microwave, and a decent sized electric skillet for cooking, along with a coffee pot and Keurig(with coffee supplied!). There’s also a small tv with a dvd player attached, and a wide assortment of movies. The bathroom was wicked cool, my girlfriend really loved ending our second day with a good soak in the clawfoot tub, but there’s also a shower in case you get dirty from petting horses out in the field with Rick. All in all, this place was something incredible, we will 110% be back to stay in here again!!

The glamping site was good, the hosts were helpful in making the stay comfortable. Great place for a weekend getaway!!!!!!
