Soon the steep slope anchored a Yurt with a wrap-around deck that puts you up in the trees. Our gathering spot by the creek became a camp site. Recently the grandkids' Bunk House found its way in. Our Retreat is 10 acres, narrow, but 1/4 mile deep, stretching down a steep wooded slope to a creek - and up the other side to the top of a bluff. Six level acres in western St. Charles County. Typical evening and night is very quiet. I have approximately 500’ of frontage on Indian Camp Creek with access to a private and secluded gravel bar. Kayaking activities are available without shuttle service. Indian Camp Creek County Park is less than 4 miles away offering mountain biking trails, hiking trails, equestrian trails, picnic pavilions, and Frisbee golf. Incline Village Golf Course is less than 1/2 mile away. Cedar Lake Winery is about a 15 minute drive. I keep a walking path mowed around the perimeter of my property so the weary traveler can stretch their legs after a long day of travel.

Welcome to our wildlife home in the country where you will have the chance to experience fresh air, stars, peace, and a chance to unwind from a long day of travel. There is a small pond that is in its natural wildlife setting to fish in, catch and release please. The deer and other critters come to drink and you might just get to see them. We have an area you can dry camp or set up tents. There are endless outdoor activities you can enjoy around the nearby areas. Enjoy a stay at our 10 acre horse farm centrally located between 2 popular Missouri Wine Country regions and less than 15 minutes away from antique shops, restaurants, wineries and a conservation lake.
The farm is home to our beloved Percheron draft horses, one quarter horse and a little mule that's been in the family for over 25 years. We also raise chickens and have a few barn cats that might show their faces once they're used to your company. (They're very tame, just bashful with strangers.)
You're welcome to participate in daily farm activities such as feeding horses, gathering eggs and gardening. You may spread out in the large backyard and set up your games or hang your hammock in the trees and rest amid the relaxing sounds of nature.
Speaking of relaxing, there might be times during the weekend when life here on the farm is bustling with activity. We might be getting ready for carriage rides in the morning and returning to the barn to unload horses late in the evening. We may occasionally operate the tractor, chainsaw or some other noisy equipment. In other words, it's not always quite, but it's all part of the farm-stay experience!
Located just 2 miles from Highway 50, we're easy to find. And the driveway is suitable for most any size RV or travel trailer.

Property is on 5 acres that used to be part of the neighboring farm. It is located south of Columbia, just a mile from the old Pierpont General Store and less than 2 miles from Rockbridge Memorial State Park.
The property has a large garage which now houses an office and storage, and has a convenient circle drive for entry/exit. There is a large concrete pad for parking. The surrounding land is about half cleared yard space lined by large trees, and the other half has been left as natural meadow space.
It is quiet, private, and serene!

Weekend Trip to Retreat to the Country
Absolutely must see! The yurt is beautiful and cozy and everything has its own little place that makes you feel right at home. The land is beautiful and the trail down to the creek allowed for some great scenery and view of the wildlife. We will definitely come again outside of the winter months to enjoy the yurt magic.

I went looking for remote, and remote is what I got. This places was absolutely fantastic! I stayed down by the river and had an amazing time. The road down can be a bit rocky but easily doable in just about any vehicle. Lance was a great host and shared a lot of knowledge about the property and surrounding area. I'll definitely be back!!!

I really enjoyed camping at Sudden Valley. I was looking to get away from everything and a public campground is usually too close to your neighbors. I wanted solitude. The Top of the Ridge site was perfect. The site is tucked back into the woods with was plenty of room to spread out with multiple tent sites in that area to choose from - tucked into the trees or out in the open. It would be great for a family with a couple of tents and still have room for games like corn hole or washers. I’ll probably bring my grandkids next summer. Randy got me set up with firewood and the scoop on the property, then I wasn’t bothered the rest of my trip, well, except for Molly, one of their dogs, that dropped by for a visit each morning for a quick pet.

We had an amazing time, even though there was unexpected rain and a freeze warning…we will definitely be coming back when the weather is warmer!! The campgrounds were very spacious and private. The supplies were well stocked, they think of everything you could need! The horses were so cute, and my kids loved the turkeys. We can’t wait to come back!!

We loved tent camping out here on Lance's land, it was beautiful, the woods are lovely and secluded which is exactly what we were looking for. Lance is a wonderful host and very accommodating. We will definitely be back in the future for a longer stay, 5/5 stars!

My husband and I took our two girls (ages 8 and 10) to stay in the lady Asha yurt. The yurt was well stocked with so many little details well thought out. All of the animals were very friendly. We had horses and a dog come right up to our yurt to say hello.

We enjoyed our stay at The Top of the Ridge campsite! It was very quiet and peaceful, and Randy made sure we had everything we needed. There was plenty of firewood at the campsite and we utilized the Weber charcoal grill as well.

I live in a rural area and this is VERY RURAL, and that’s just fine. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. We could have stayed up top but wanted a view of the river so we braved the rustic trail to the secluded river spot. We both had AWD and were glad we did because it was a bumpy ride. However, totally worth it. The site faced west over the river and we got to see deer run across the low river and heard owls and coyotes. It was 100% primitive camping down there but we had brought water and a portable toilet so we were prepared. If you have a vehicle that can make the trek down and you don’t mind primitive and secluded, then this is a spot for you.

I found the site On Top of the Ridge to be a wonderful place to tent camp. There was a table, plenty of firewood, a cabinet with camping supplies and an awesome private outhouse just for this campsite. It was a short walk to visit the horses. The whole farm with multiple barns, fields, trails and really beautiful horses was well maintained. The owner was so gracious and welcoming. It was an easy drive from the interstate on my way from Nashville to Denver.
