Often bald eagles can be spotted at both lakes. Other wildlife you may see: deer, wild turkey, raccoons, opossums, fox, bobcat, coyote, rabbits, armadillo, otter, and squirrels. Please do not approach the wild animals! There is a pretty creek for those who like to creek walk. Petrified wood can be picked up in the creek bed. We are only 30 minutes from the University of Mississippi campus for people coming for ballgame weekends. We are only about 20 minutes from Grenada and Enid Reservoirs. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise.
We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center.
You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line.

It's rustic and basic and was perfect for what I wanted for a few days. I enjoyed my time outside most. There are Christmas tree groves, a vineyard, open fields, and nature trails. The wildlife was alive, the stars were bright, and Austin/Wanda were kind.

My friend and i loved our time at the skoolie! We stayed in late January. Iit was below freezing temps outside, but the bus is temp controlled and well insulated. Brooke also went well out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable.

Our stay was pretty much what we were looking for - secluded, quiet, and comfortable. The best part was the staff. They were beyond just friendly and professional, but were also very accommodating. They gave us a side-by-side tour of the property, let us borrow a phone charger, and even offered us fishing poles and bait to use in the two beautiful ponds. If you are looking for something secluded and quiet where you can just relax and enjoy nature, we strongly recommend.

This was the best trip I have been on in a long time. The home was absolutely perfect but all the camp sites on the property were beautiful. The owners are THE SWEETEST! They responded so quickly to any and all questions my family and I had. The property is incredible with so many awesome riding trails for all experience levels or ages. The home slept my whole family comfortably. Waking up and going right out to our bikes to ride was such an incredible experience. We all felt so safe and secure there even going into town and leaving our stuff. I would recommend this family, home, property and trails to EVERYONE. My family and I will 100% be back and we are so excited for the next trip already!

The Old Farmhouse at Twin Lakes was incredibly spacious, comfortable and beautiful. Between the quiet, woodsy farmland setting and the architecture and furnishings, from the friendly dogs in their yard who greeted ours to the happy horses grazing all day, to the antique furniture and enchanting art, it was a magical experience and we wished we could have stayed longer!
