We purchased the property in 2003 in order to escape the city life and be closer to nature. Over the years we have developed our sustainable farm, raising grass-fed cattle, chickens, and various other animals over the years. We also breed Bernese Mountain Dogs, so you'll see some of our pack wandering the property. We work hard to maintain practices that heal the land and preserve it for the future. No chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, pesticides or herbicides are used here. We raised our four children here and have made many memories together as we learned to farm, build and enjoy our land. We continue to create and build towards a long-term vision, creating a haven for artisans with self-sufficient living in mind.
Welcome to our inviting custom built cottage. It is located on our property, approximately 300' from on our home on our 55 acre land plot, located 10 minutes outside of St. Joseph, MN. We are very near St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict. Hiking trails located on our property as well as nearby County parks and St. John's University. We are 6 miles from the Wobegon Trail (76 miles long) which is great for biking, roller blading, walking and running.
Come explore Creekwood Acres which is host to a great deal of wild life as well as sustainably raised animals with a process we call rejuvenative farming. Wander through the woods and listen to the birds, watch monarch butterflies, our cattle and hear the, frogs, crickets and occasionally distant coyotes. The Watab Creek runs through the property which consists of fields, forest and a pond.
Our cozy cottage was built by our family using lumber sawn on our property. There are two double beds up in the loft accessible by ladder and one queen size sofa sleeper (very comfortable!) on the main level . A wood burning stove keeps the cottage cozy in cooler weather. There is a bathroom with flushing toilet and shower. Electricity keeps the cottage aglow and runs a refrigerator, microwave, sound system and fans. Also available for your convenience, an apartment size range and kitchen sink.
Enjoy a fire in a private fire ring near the cottage. Firewood available for purchase (for exterior fire ring). Enjoy a wood-fired sauna upon request. The sauna has been known to get quite hot!

The more we host, the more we understand that some people just want to be left to enjoy a quiet weekend while others love to engage and develop a connection. We enjoy engaging in conversation and developing connections and yet completely respect the desire for others privacy to the utmost degree. We try to let the guest set the stage and expectations based on the first greeting and any encounters. Please feel free to state your hopes and wishes.

Perfect cabin for our little girls winter get away. The wood stove kept us nice and toasty, despite the bellow 0 weather. hosts were very accommodating. Nice and private. Beautiful spot and loved watching the dogs and cows frolic around. Kitchen had everything we needed even a toaster & microwave. This space was plenty of room for the 3 of us. I would definitely stay here again! Although getting up into the loft was okay for us, if you don’t do well with patters this could be tricky for the 2 beds in the loft the the sofa pulled out into a nice bed on main level. That said the latter going up to the loft is fixed to the wall and very sturdy. The loft it’s self was very sturdy and not creeky at all. Lovely place all around.

We had a wonderful weekend at Todd and Sarah's cabin who were ever so kind and helpful. They were always quick to reply and would give us a heads up before they left the property to make sure we had all we needed.
We unintentionally picked one of the colder weekends for our adventure but the wood stove kept us nice and toasty, especially while sleeping in the loft. The loft had a beautiful view of the farm, and a telescope to gaze at the stars at night.
We regrettably did not take advantage of the camp fire or sauna due to the brutally cold weather, but it gives us something to look forward to on our next trip! It was a very luxurious and private weekend.

We loved being able to stay in the Creekwood cottage. It was so easy to pack and leave home quickly because the cottage is so well equipped! The cottage has a hand crafted woodsy feel throughout, total privacy, beautiful views from inside and outside, great connection to nature even a sauna, hot shower, and farm fresh breakfast available. We felt refreshed after just one night!

Our time at Todd & Sarah's Creekwood Cabin was fantastic! The location was close to the city yet far enough for the feel of a true getaway. Their land is gorgeous. It was so much fun wandering the trails with their dog Frances and soaking it all in. Todd and Sarah were the perfect hosts. We had such a great time getting to know them and learn about their passion for animals and the land. They gave us space to enjoy the best Mother's Day I've ever had, complete with the most delicious homemade breakfast. The minute we stepped foot into the cabin our kids were asking when they could come back and as we left they said it felt like we had been visiting family. We all loved it! Thank you for a fantastic weekend!
