About this space
The "Kick Back Tiny Shack" has a queen size bed, small futon bed (for a child) along with two single camp cots. This tiny house can sleep up to four people (2-3 most comfortably) depending on your needs. There is a mini fridge with mini freezer along with a mini gas range/oven, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There is a TV and Wi-Fi. The cabin has a freestanding gas fireplace to keep you cozy and warm and air conditioning for the hot summer months. Come prepared to relax. This is a rustic cabin with all amenities so no need to pack up dishes, bedding, towels, etc. (bring sleeping bag and pillow for anything other than the queen size bed.) The kitchen is fully stocked with your basic cooking and dining essentials. If you don't want to do dishes you are welcome to bring your own paper plates, etc. Coffee, Salt, pepper, cooking spray, dish soap and hand soap, toilet paper and one roll of paper towels provided. There is not a well or city water, but you will be supplied with an electric pump faucet with 10 gallons of water for the kitchen sink to heat water for doing dishes, etc. There is also an electric pump faucet for the outhouse sink. In addition, 1 to 2 gallons of drinking water will be supplied depending on the length of your stay. There is a heated outhouse next to the cabin which has a shower stall in which you can shower with 120 gallons of water and on demand water heater. Towels are provided and if you need more water, you can contact us, and we can refill at our home which is located next door. Please allow notice in case we are not home at the time. The contact information will be provided with your booking confirmation. You have your own private yard on our 6 acres with a BBQ pit in the summer months, firepit and grill off of the back deck year-round. If you chose to bring a four-wheeler, canoe, boat or snowmobile there is plenty of parking space depending on the quantity. Snowmobiles and side by sides are available for rent 3 miles up the road from the cabin. Come and unwind or explore the many wonders that the Northwoods has to offer! The interior of the cabin is newly refinished. The exterior will be improved as time goes by. No unauthorized guests or pets as a fee may be added and Airbnb does not cover this.

Experience upscale camping–Glamping in the Forested Hills of Lake Superior. Sailor Springs is a small three-site campground located just two miles outside of the picturesque tourist town of Bayfield, WI. 2023 will be our first year of operation and we’re excited to host campers on the property and provide a unique camping experience.
The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round.
We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall. We are so blessed to live in this little piece of serenity just inside the city limits of Duluth.
Our home was once an abandoned house that sat for years until a friend mentioned to us that it might be going up for sale. We loved the location and rolled up our sleeves. Twenty years later we still marvel at the beauty around us and can hardly believe that we LIVE here!
Just down the road is a trout stream and beyond that was a popular farm that attracted many folks to this neighborhood for hay rides and sleigh rides. The farm has since retired its horses and closed its doors to make room for new homes, but memories live on in the beauty of the open fields. I often imagine the sound of horses and sleigh bells and people singing carols and then warming up around a toasty fire sipping hot cocoa. Some of those memories live on right here at Balsam Ridge (minus the horses). Over the years many groups of folks have enjoyed a sense of community in these back woods no matter the season. Campfires, kids catching frogs, neighborhood campouts, snow picnics, hair-raising toboggan runs, family campouts, spiritual silent retreats, a take-your-breath-away giant swing, and some tales too daring to mention are all part of the fun.
This is why we do what we do. We've been given much, and love to give back. It just wouldn't seem right to keep all this good to ourselves.

Additional notes to consider: During certain times of the year, particularly fall, it is also possible to hear occasional hunting from other large properties around the lake, but be assured there is no hunting on our property or our direct neighbors and you are located securely in the center of our 15.5 acres.

Staying at the Roost was awesome! Linda and Chris welcomed us as we arrived, gave a tour of the property, and gave great ideas on throngs or places to experience. The Roost is definitely small, so be prepared for that. That being said, we had a fantastic time at the Roost. It’s a quick drive to Duluth and a great place to recover in a quiet area after a long day out! Thanks for a great weekend!

Had the absolute Best Time here!! Linda and her Husband were the absolute sweetest and most welcoming hosts. Me and my other Teen friend came here to Glamp and it was a very nice and Safe area. The stove was very easy to figure out and use after a fire was started. Very easy and convenient. It felt secluded in the best way!! The site is very close to town and Lake Superior!! The Bathroom we were told to use was VERY clean! There is also a Community Space by the pond with plenty of Activities! There are a Variety of hiking trails and they were so Beautiful and easy to stay on the trail and find your way back thanks to the tree markers and Lindas Handy map!! Overall such an amazing experience and we will 100% be back next summer!! thank you Linda!! ❤️❤️❤️

We had a great time at Kyle's rustic cabin. The off-grid solar made cooking a breeze. It was so nice to have hot showers too. It was close to the things that we wanted to visit like Black Beach and Iona Beach, yet still felt private and remote. Google maps took us straight to it and Kyle's directions were spot on. The waterless toilet took a little get it used to, but it was nice to have. We did have a little bit of a challenge finding a place to take our garbage when we left, but after searching a bit, we found a campground that accepted it.

The whole family loved staying in the Stuga. Cozy, private, relaxing. We watched hummingbirds in the large window. Our son loved swimming and fishing in the nearby pond, and we all played some competitive (and fun) games of carpet ball. Of course, we also went on the amazing swings. I would highly recommend this place, it’s pretty special.

Balsam Ridge was an absolute treasure! Hosts Linda and Chris were a total delight—they provided top-notch service and have clearly poured their hearts into creating an unforgettable space. Can't wait visit again!
We stayed here for a 5-day mountain biking trip with four guys, and it was the ultimate basecamp. It gives you that peaceful getaway feel outside the city, while staying conveniently close to all the action. Over the week, we tackled Hartley, Lester, Mission Creek, and Spirit Mountain, before closing out the trip with the full Duluth Traverse. Couldn't have asked for a better home base! Thank you Linda and Chris for making our trip so unforgettable!
