We recommend it although not highly. Kind of a cool setting if you’re into old timey museum type places. It’s great for a quick stopover point. Location was nice, we were the only people there (late season trip) so it was very quiet. Port Sanilac is a great little town.

Great spot if you are looking to get away from city noise and lights. Heard nothing but nature. Dennis was quick to respond. Dennis came to check in with us and ask if we needed anything shortly after arriving. If you like coney dogs, stop at the coney trailer in Sanford. We will be back.

Quiet, nearest neighbor was 80 yards away. This is like a miniature greenfield village. It is clean and well kept, with fun little walking trails to explore. For an additional fee you can have a guided tour of the historic buildings onsite. I had a wonderful time!

Wonderful venue!! We didn’t realize until we arrived, this is not a “campground“ but a historical village, and you camp on their grounds. The only negative would be that there’s no shower, but that was not a big deal. We went to a play at The Barn Theater onsite - perfect for us theater folk! We were tempted to leave a bad review so we could have the place to ourselves, but that wouldn’t be fair!! Quiet, beautiful, lots of things to do in the area - what’s not to love?!!

Our second stay at the property and as good as ever. We arrived a bit late so we didn’t meet our Host however she provided all the info we required. The site is really amazing with clusters of refurbished heritage buildings. We felt safe and had access to washroom facilities (no showers) which was very convenient. We highly recommend a stay

Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. The river is beautiful to watch, lots of wildlife and fantastic sunsets right in front of you. You are able to fish right from your site. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. This will be our annual fishing spot.

From the campsite, facing west, the only open sky lets in a little sun in the afternoon.

The host greeted me on arrival while filling water dishes for dogs along the drive - very cool. He pointed out walking paths and made sure I had his number. You drive nearly a mile into the woods to reach the site — total privacy and solitude, 10/10. Quietest spot I’ve camped at all year. Any distant sounds are rare, brief, and far off. Most of the time, it’s completely silent — even wildlife was minimal when I stayed. You can turn in a full circle and see nothing manmade except the picnic table. No people, wires, lights — just woods. Site is shaded with some sunlight, has a solid picnic table, a well-placed firepit, and a generous stack of firewood. This site would be perfect for anyone looking to fully unplug, be alone, or just enjoy the silence.

I had a very relaxing time tent camping on Dennis’s site. Very remote for those looking for complete alone time. I felt safe the whole time which is important for any solo campers. There is a clearing by the site for fantastic star gazing, plenty of wood for fires and a nice picnic table. Lots and lots of bugs and black flies, so bring the DEET and I had success with some insect repellent incense sticks I placed around. I highly recommend this site for anyone looking to be off the grid for a bit. Thank you, Dennis.

Really flexible host. I was rolling through the UP on my way to Montana and asked last minute if I could camp around 9:00, Dennis was really easy going and the spot was nice and private so I didn’t feel awkward changing clothes/setting things up. I’d stay again if I were visiting the UP, makes a really nice base camp. Thanks Dennis!
